I Grind to Martial Saint
Chapter 325 - 271: Peculiar
As soon as Ding Zihu entered the mountains, he took out his Compass and began to investigate what was special about this peak.
Han Yuan and the Orange Cat followed behind him.
The mountain’s terrain was extremely steep; an ordinary person would find it an arduous climb.
But Han Yuan and Ding Zihu were no ordinary people, and they made their way straight toward the summit.
An hour later, they finally reached the top.
"The terrain of a Sharp Blade Evil is very unique. This should be the place with the densest Spiritual Qi."
Ding Zihu led Han Yuan to a small earthen mound.
When Ding Zihu saw the mound, he let out a gasp of surprise.
"What’s wrong?"
Han Yuan asked.
"Do you think this mound... looks like a grave?"
Ding Zihu said.
Hearing this, Han Yuan couldn’t help but inspect the pile of stones before him.
The pile looked like it was made of nothing more than ordinary, jumbled rubble, completely unremarkable.
But if you were to call it a grave, it did sort of fit the description, just barely.
"Didn’t you say the Sharp Blade Evil formation would generate an extremely violent Evil Qi?"
"Surely no one would want to be buried here."
Han Yuan said.
The main reason being, the terrain of a Sharp Blade Evil is too easy to recognize.
Even a normal person could probably tell this place is unusual.
"Who knows... Someone might even be refining corpses here."
"This Sharp Blade Evil is a natural corpse-raising ground."
Ding Zihu muttered.
Upon hearing this, Han Yuan walked directly toward the pile of stones.
"It’s... probably hollow underneath."
Han Yuan said suddenly.
"How do you know?"
Ding Zihu was taken aback. Even he hadn’t been able to tell.
"I could tell from the feel of the ground... I’m afraid you were right."
As he spoke, Han Yuan suddenly lifted his foot and stomped on the ground!
BOOM!!!
The ground in a five- or six-meter radius around him instantly collapsed.
Even Ding Zihu was caught in it.
The two of them fell into a dark tomb passage.
"Meow~~ I’m being reminded of some unpleasant things."
Despite the sudden fall, the Orange Cat wasn’t the least bit panicked. Standing steadily on Han Yuan’s shoulder, it couldn’t help but speak up as it took in the scene.
Clearly, it was remembering its previous experience inside Hive Mountain.
But Ding Zihu shook his head. "This is a tomb chamber, not like Hive Mountain."
He had never expected this. He had originally come here to find a Middle Spiritual Land.
But instead of a Middle Spiritual Land, he’d found a mysterious tomb chamber.
"Let’s see who exactly is buried here."
Han Yuan suspected that an Evil Demon Seed might be here.
Now that he’d stumbled upon it, he naturally couldn’t just let it be.
"Alright, I’m curious too."
Ding Zihu chuckled.
He was the type of person who was used to exploring strange and eerie places.
In what would have been Han Yuan’s previous world, he’d be considered a natural-born adventurer.
The two of them proceeded down the dark tomb passage.
The deeper they went, the darker it became.
Ding Zihu used his Magical Power to conjure a ball of Spiritual Light to clearly illuminate the path ahead.
They walked for several hundred meters, but there was still no end in sight.
"Looks like this tomb is quite large."
"It’s comparable to the tombs of the princes and nobles of the Great Ling Dynasty."
Ding Zihu muttered.
Generally speaking, the larger the tomb, the more noble the deceased’s status.
After walking for another fifteen minutes or so, they finally arrived before a dark tomb chamber.
The door to the tomb chamber was massive, nearly five or six meters tall. It was primitive in design, its surface carved with mysterious patterns.
"Ding Zihu, do you recognize these patterns?"
Han Yuan asked.
"These patterns..."
Ding Zihu leaned in for a closer look, but after a careful inspection, he shook his head.
"I’ve never seen them... They’re probably special runes from a local tribe, not widely known."
"But from the looks of this stone door, I’d say it’s ancient."
Han Yuan said in a low voice, "Then let’s go in and see."
With that, he placed both hands on the stone door. His biceps swelled as he unleashed tremendous strength.
RUMBLE!!!
Han Yuan forced the incredibly heavy stone door open with his bare hands.
It was like opening the gates to the Netherworld.
A cold, malevolent aura wafted out from inside.
Fearing a thousand-year-old corpse would charge out at any moment, Ding Zihu hastily produced his Eight Trigrams Mirror.
But after Han Yuan pushed the door completely open, nothing happened.
Ding Zihu finally relaxed a bit and directed the ball of Spiritual Light to fly into the tomb chamber.
Instantly, he saw that the tomb chamber was packed with countless human figures.
The sight made Ding Zihu’s scalp crawl.
Han Yuan frowned as well.
He drew his Dragon Sparrow Cloud-Splitting Saber and whispered, "Be careful!"
With that, he stepped through the entrance into the tomb chamber.
The Orange Cat stood on his shoulder, looking around alertly like a little tiger cub.
Ding Zihu followed suit.
As they drew closer, Han Yuan realized the figures were actually desiccated corpses, each holding a long spear and wearing an iron mask.
They looked like guards from Hell itself, grim and terrifying.
"So many able-bodied young men, used as human sacrifices to serve as guards for the dead."
"It seems the master of this tomb was someone whose status far exceeds our imagination."
Ding Zihu said.
Although some tribes have the vile custom of burying the living with the dead,
it’s usually wives, concubines, or servants.
Using able-bodied men as burial sacrifices is quite rare.
A single glance revealed at least several thousand specially treated corpses.
The scene was exceptionally frightening.
Han Yuan was very brave and managed to remain calm.
The two of them carefully wove their way through the desiccated corpses.
Han Yuan had originally expected the corpses to reanimate at any moment, leading to a huge battle.
But to his surprise, even after they had passed completely through the chamber, the corpses hadn’t moved an inch.
