I Evolve 10,000 Times Faster

Chapter 238: Master Korr Defeat!

  • Next Chapter

The giant moved fast. Faster than something that size should have moved. The liquid metal legs drove him forward with the force of a locomotive, each step shaking the courtyard, each stride covering ten feet.

His right fist came forward aimed at the spot where Holden was standing. The fist wasn’t just heavy. It was spiked. The liquid metal had extended six-inch spikes from the knuckles, each one a solid iron spear designed to punch through armor and flesh.

CLANG!

Holden wasn’t there. Void-Step.

shhp.

He was behind Korr. Ten feet. The giant’s back was a wall of rippling liquid metal.

Holden swung a quick, compressed Hellfire burst aimed at the back of Korr’s knee.

FWIP!

The fire hit the liquid metal. The surface hissed. A patch of the iron turned cherry-red from the heat. The metal softened and bubbled. But it didn’t break. The surrounding liquid metal flowed into the damaged area, replacing the softened iron with fresh, cool material from the rest of the armor. The wound closed in under a second.

tssss. shhhk.

Korr spun. His left arm swept backward, the liquid metal extending into a five-foot blade that whipped through the air where Holden had been standing.

shhp.

Void-Step. Holden was fifteen feet to the right. The blade passed through empty air and retracted, the liquid metal flowing back into Korr’s arm.

"You can’t cut what doesn’t hold its shape, boy!" Korr roared. His voice was deeper now. The sound echoed off the canyon walls. "Every cut heals!! My armor has no weakness!"

He threw both fists forward. The liquid metal extended from both arms simultaneously, forming twin spears that shot toward Holden from two directions. The spears were fast. Rank 4 fast. His 10,000x processor tracked them, calculated the intersecting trajectories, and found the gap between them.

shhp.

He was between the spears. The liquid metal passed on either side of him, close enough to touch.

The spears retracted. Korr swung again.

shhp.

Holden moved behind the giant and fired another Hellfire burst into the back of Korr’s thigh. The metal hissed, softened, and quickly reformed.

tssss. shhhk.

"STOP RUNNING!" Korr screamed. The liquid metal on his back erupted into spikes. Dozens of them. Six-inch iron spears extended in every direction from his back, shoulders, and arms.

shhp. shhp. shhp.

Holden teleported three times, moving through three different shadows. Each jump took him out of the spike zone and gave him a fraction of a second to assess the situation, calculate his next move, and plan his attack.

The spikes retracted. Korr turned. His amber eyes tracked the teleport pattern, the liquid metal on his face shifting, flowing, reforming to give him maximum peripheral vision. He was learning. Adapting. Reading the Void-Step pattern.

The next spike formation came faster, extending wider and covering more angles. Holden moved aside, but one spike caught the edge of his Ember-Silk Cloak and tore a six-inch strip from the hem.

The liquid metal was adapting to his movement. Korr was a Rank 4 cultivator. His mind was fast enough to track the pattern, even if his body couldn’t always react in time.

Holden needed more firepower. Not a different weapon. Not a different technique. He needed more of the same. More Holden. More fire. More blades. More angles of attack. More strikes at once.

He reached into his Inventory.

The Echo-Mirror appeared in his left hand. The

artifact hummed. Ready. Waiting.

[Echo-Mirror: Echo-Clone Active]

[Duration: 60 seconds]

[Creating physical shadow-clone of host]

[Clone will mimic: Rank 3 (8-Star), Eclipse-Sun Sword, all equipped gear]

[Clone cannot: Speak, use System features]

[Clone shares: Combat skills, movement techniques, energy reserves]

[Countdown: 60... 59... 58...]

A flash of silver light erupted from the mirror.

The light was not bright. It was a soft, silver glow that spread from the disk and slowly formed a shape beside Holden. A human shape. His shape.

The clone materialized.

It was him. A perfect physical copy. The same height and build. The same Phantom-Weave Armor. The same Ember-Silk Cloak. The same Blood-Amber Ring on the right index finger. The same Kinetic-Nova Bracer on the left forearm. The same Sovereign’s Pendant around the neck.

And in its right hand was the same weapon

The clone’s Eclipse-Sun Sword was identical. The blade pulsed with the same dark, living energy.

The clone was silent. It didn’t spea. It simply stood beside Holden, its black eyes fixed on Korr, its sword raised, its body in the same combat stance.

Two Holdens. Two swords. Two sets of 8-Star Aether-Steel fists.

Korr’s amber eyes went wide.

The liquid metal face of the giant stuttered. The flowing surface rippled, the smooth, adaptive armor losing its composure for a fraction of a second as the Rank 4 mind behind it processed what it was seeing. Two identical figures. Same weapons. Same armor. Same energy signature.

"What?" Korr said. The word came out flat. Confused. The voice of a man who had spent decades studying metal and had never encountered a material that could duplicate itself. "What is this? What ARE you?"

The clone didn’t answer. It couldn’t. It just stood there. Silent. Ready. A perfect shadow given flesh and fire.

Holden looked at his clone. The clone looked at him. A glance. A fraction of a second. No words needed. The clone shared his mind. His skills. His combat knowledge. His 10,000x processing speed. It knew the plan because it was the plan.

They moved.

Both Holdens triggered Void-Step simultaneously.

shhp. shhp.

Two dissolutions. Two reformations. Two arrivals. From opposite directions. The real Holden appeared on Korr’s left. The clone appeared on Korr’s right. Flanking. Simultaneous. The giant’s amber eyes couldn’t track both. The liquid metal couldn’t defend both sides at once. The armor was adaptive, but it was one system. One mind. One will. It could flow to the left or flow to the right. Not both. Not at the same speed.

Korr chose left. The armor thickened on his left side, the liquid metal flowing to reinforce the defense against the real Holden. The right side thinned.

The clone struck first.

FWOOM!

The clone’s Eclipse-Sun Sword hit Korr’s right flank. The dual-element fire carved into the thinned armor, the black and crimson blade slicing through the liquid metal, reaching the flesh beneath. The fire met the iron. The metal hissed. Boiled. Vaporized.

tsssss!

Korr screamed. Not from pain. From shock. The armor on his right side was gone. The flesh beneath was exposed. The fire had reached skin.

He spun toward the clone. The liquid metal on his left side, thickened and ready, flowed to the right to cover the wound. The left side thinned.

Holden struck.

FWOOM!

The real Eclipse-Sun Sword hit Korr’s left flank. Same spot. Same angle. Same dual-element fire. The thinned armor couldn’t resist. The blade cut through. The fire reached flesh.

tsssss!

Korr screamed again. Both sides. Both flanks. Both wounds. The liquid metal armor was caught in a loop. Flowing right. Flowing left. Trying to cover both wounds. Failing. The armor was fast. The clone was faster. The two Holdens were attacking from opposite sides, forcing the metal to split its attention, forcing the defense to thin on both sides simultaneously.

Korr roared. The sound was metallic. A grinding, shrieking, iron-on-iron sound that came from the liquid metal coating his throat vibrating with his scream.

SKREEEEEEE!

He threw his arms outward. The liquid metal on both arms extended in massive, sweeping arcs. Twin blades. Ten feet long. Designed to cut everything in a twenty-foot radius. To clear the courtyard. To kill both Holdens in a single, omnidirectional sweep.

Both Holdens raised their swords.

"Let’s turn up the heat."

The two Eclipse-Sun blades ignited simultaneously. Not independently. In sync. The same fire. The same Perfect-tier Hellfire Cleave. The same Rank 4 dual-element energy. The two swords blazed with identical intensity, the black and crimson fire merging where the arcs overlapped, creating a zone of combined heat that was twice as hot as either blade alone.

Two arcs. Two swings. Overlapping.

FWOOOOOSH! FWOOOOOSH!

The fire met Korr’s sweeping blades. The collision was not a clash. It was an annihilation. The dual-element fire from two Rank 4 swords, striking simultaneously from opposite directions, hit the liquid metal blades with a combined thermal output that exceeded the iron’s capacity to remain solid.

The liquid metal didn’t melt. It boiled.

The iron blades, caught between two walls of Perfect-tier fire, reached their boiling point. The metal turned from liquid to gas in under a second. The iron vaporized. The steam, superheated and pressurized, expanded outward in a shockwave that blew the remaining liquid metal armor off Korr’s body in sheets.

shhhhhhk!

The armor peeled away. Piece by piece. Layer by layer. The liquid metal, unable to maintain its form under the combined thermal assault, lost cohesion. It flowed off Korr’s body like water off a melting statue. The silvery surface slid away, revealing the flesh beneath.

Korr’s body was ruined.

The metal tattoos on his scalp had melted. The silver lines of enchanted metal, injected beneath his skin, had been heated past their melting point by the combined fire. The metal had run. Liquid silver, mixed with blood and tissue, dripped down his face, his neck, his shoulders. His skin was red. Not tanned. Burned. The flesh beneath the armor, unprotected for the first time, had been cooked by the heat that had vaporized the iron.

His amber eyes were still burning. Still molten. But the expression behind them was no longer confident. No longer arrogant. No longer the expression of a man who controlled the world around him.

It was the expression of a man standing inside an oven.

The two Holdens swung again.

FWOOOOOSH! FWOOOOOSH!

The second set of strikes hit Korr directly. No armor. No liquid metal. No defense. Just flesh and bone and the Rank 4 cultivation that had been holding his body together.

The fire hit him from both sides. Simultaneously. The two arcs of Perfect-tier Hellfire Cleave, overlapping, combining, creating a zone of thermal destruction that was twice as hot as anything a single blade could produce.

Korr’s body couldn’t take it.

The flesh burned. The muscles charred. The bones cracked from thermal stress. The metal tattoos, the source of his metal manipulation power, melted completely, the liquid silver running from his scalp like mercury from a broken thermometer.

drip. drip. sizzle.

Korr fell.

Not in pieces. Not in halves. In one piece. A single, charred, smoking figure that toppled from the pillar of earth and hit the courtyard floor with a sound that was heavy and final.

THUD.

The liquid metal that had been his armor lay in pools around his body. Silvery, bubbling, cooling. The iron that had been his weapon, his shield, his defense, his pride, was now nothing but slag. Useless. Inert. A puddle of boiled metal cooling on the cracked courtyard floor.

His amber eyes dimmed. The molten color faded. The fire went out. The eyes, which had burned with the heat of molten iron, went dark.

The clone flickered.

[Echo-Clone Duration: 3... 2... 1...]

[Clone dissolving.]

The shadow-clone dissolved. The silver light that had held it together faded, and the second Holden simply ceased to exist. One moment he was there, sword raised, fire blazing. The next, he was a wisp of dark mist that curled upward and vanished in the furnace heat.

shhp.

Gone.

Holden stood alone. One sword. One body. One set of black eyes looking down at the charred remains of a Rank 4 metal manipulator who had thought his iron fortress was unbreakable.

[Master Korr (Rank 4, 1-Star) Defeated!]

[Rank 4 Boss Eliminated!]

[+50,000 KP! 2x Booster Active! KP Doubled!]

[+100,000 KP!]

Holdon dismissed the Eclipse-Sun Sword. The black and crimson blade vanished from his hand. The courtyard went dark except for the furnaces, which still roared, still belched, still lit the canyon in hellish orange.

He looked at Korr’s body. At the melted metal. At the ruined tattoos that had been the source of his power.

"Your world had a melting point," Holden said. "I just found it."
