Chapter 97: Chapter 97: Deadly Poison

Miche’s voice was exceptionally gentle. Without waiting for a response from inside, she pushed the door open.

Inside the room, Zerev sat by the window, gazing at the sky outside, lost in his own world. Miche tiptoed quietly to his side, her soft, small hands gently resting on Zerev’s shoulders. Seeing that he didn’t resist, she grew bolder, slowly sliding her hands down and slipping them past the collar of his linen shirt.

Zerev, who had been deep in thought, finally snapped back to reality. He forcefully seized Miche’s wrist and snapped coldly, "Get out!"

"Master Zerev," Miche started, still trying to plead her case.

Zerev raised his voice. "Throw her out!"

A Beast Servant hidden in the shadows heard the command and swiftly stepped into the room.

"No, Master Zerev, I didn’t mean to! I just like you too much. Please forgive me this once!" Miche cried, secretly regretting her impatience as she begged mournfully.

The Beast Servant was startled by her sudden kneeling and looked toward his master.

"What are you waiting for!" Zerev barked.

At that, the Beast Servant grabbed Miche by the back of her neck, turning a deaf ear to her pleas. She wept piteously, tears streaming down her face, but he remained entirely unmoved.

Hearing the commotion, Moye hurried over. He looked at the Beast Servant and asked, "What happened here?"

"She disturbed the young master, and he ordered me to throw her out," the Beast Servant replied, his voice icy and devoid of emotion.

Moye’s face paled in shock. After all, he was the one who had made the call to let this young female stay. He had hoped she could win the young master’s heart, never expecting her to be so hopelessly impatient and offend him right off the bat.

"I’ll handle this. Go back and guard the young master," Moye said.

"Understood." Showing no tenderness for the fairer sex, the Beast Servant simply let go, dropping Miche to the ground.

Miche crawled forward on her knees and hugged Mo Ye’s legs, her eyes brimming with tears.

"Since you’ve angered the young master, I can’t let you stay," Mo Ye said. "Take this Red Crystal Stone as compensation."

Miche shook her head in resistance. "No, Lord City Lord, please don’t send me away. I truly like Master Zerev! I promise I won’t appear in front of him again. Please, just let me stay."

Moved by Miche’s apparent sincerity, Moye sighed. "Fine, I’ll give you one last chance. If you fail to grasp it again, don’t blame me."

Her eyes red, Miche looked up at him with immense gratitude. "Thank you, Lord City Lord."

Miche knew this was her last and only chance. After behaving herself for two days, she once again found an opportunity to approach Zerev.

At that moment, Zerev was in his room discussing matters with Moye.

"Young Master, there is news of sugar from the northern trading market."

"Mhm, let’s go check it out tomorrow."

"The person behind this has waited so long, they must be getting anxious," Moye noted. The weather was growing hotter now, making white sugar difficult to store; it would soon melt.

Standing outside, Miche listened to the talk of sugar with some confusion, instinctively leaning in closer to hear better. However, this very movement gave her away.

"Who’s there?!"

The moment Zerev’s voice rang out, someone clamped down on Miche’s neck. The door swung open, and the Beast Servant forced Miche down on one knee.

"Young Master, this young female was eavesdropping outside the room."

Moye was surprised to see her. "Why is it you?" He had always thought this young female was well-behaved and obedient; he never imagined she would dare to eavesdrop.

Panic flared in Miche’s heart, but she forced herself to stay calm. Knowing Zerev was cold-blooded, she turned a pleading gaze toward Moye.

"Lord City Lord, I just wanted to catch a glimpse of the young master. I truly didn’t mean to eavesdrop. This is all a misunderstanding! I didn’t hear anything."

"Lock her up," Zerev ordered, murderous intent flashing in his eyes. He still remembered how this very female had slandered Ophelia to his face back then.

"No, Young Master, I really didn’t mean to!" Noticing the killing intent in Zerev’s eyes, Miche reached out, trying to grab the hem of his shirt to beg for mercy.

Zerev stepped sideways, dodging her outstretched hand.

The Beast Servant reached down to pull her up, but unexpectedly, she suddenly sprang to her feet. Swiftly pulling an animal-skin pouch from her clothes, Miche flung all the powder inside it directly at Zerev.

No one present expected her to pull such a drastic stunt.

Caught off guard, Zerev inhaled the powder into his nasal cavity. Almost immediately, a surge of blistering heat rushed through his body, burning away his rationality like a raging inferno.

"Miche, what are you doing?" Moye glared at her furiously, realizing he had misjudged her yet again. This young female wasn’t gentle and kind at all; she was deeply scheming.

Miche burst into maniacal laughter. "What am I doing? I just want to become Master Zerev’s mate! This is a powder that triggers a male’s mating heat. If he doesn’t release it, his life will be in danger. Right now, I’m the only young female in the City Lord Mansion. Master Zerev, I am willing to be your cure."

"Shameless! Disgusting!" Moye exploded with rage. He turned to look at his young master, only to see Zerev’s face flushed bright red, the veins on his neck bulging, and his eyes completely bloodshot.

"What do we do now? Young Master, I’ll go find a clean young female for you." Moye broke out in a cold sweat. The most urgent priority was to detoxify his master; he couldn’t let him be in real danger.

"No need."

Miche never expected that even at this stage, Zerev would still reject her. Emboldened, she threw herself into his arms and began tearing at his linen clothes.

Clenching his jaw to maintain his sanity, Zerev raised his foot and kicked her away. Then, right there in the courtyard, he transformed into a Winged Dragon and took to the sky.

"Young Master, where are you going?" Watching his master’s silhouette fade into the distance, Moye felt as if his own life might just be forfeit.

"That is the direction of the Fu Clan," the previously silent Beast Servant suddenly spoke up.

Realization dawned on Moye. The young master was going to find Ophelia!

Meanwhile, outside the Fuzu Tribe, Ophelia was in the fields spreading fertilizer.

A few days earlier, Tyler had led the tribe’s males under the cover of night to plant all five acres with rice seedlings. Now, her task was to apply a second round of fertilizer. Because the area was so large, she and Tyler had split up, starting from opposite ends.

Suddenly, a large shadow was cast over her, and Ophelia looked up. Before she could even clearly see who was coming, she found herself swept off her feet.

"Ah!" she screamed in terror.

"Don’t be afraid. It’s me," Zerev’s hoarse voice whispered in Ophelia’s ear.

Ophelia stared in disbelief at the Winged Dragon holding her. Catching sight of those silver-gray eyes, she realized who it was. "Zerev, it’s you! What are you doing? Put me down quickly!" she struggled.

Zerev’s eyes flashed with displeasure. "Be good. I don’t want to hurt you."

After flying for about ten minutes, Zerev found a hidden cave in the forest. Gradually shifting back into his humanoid form, he wrapped his arm around Ophelia’s waist and practically carried her into the cave.

RIP!

The linen clothes on her body were torn apart.

A crisp slap echoed through the air. "Zerev, what exactly are you trying to do?!"
