I Dumped My Mate—Now Every Beast King Wants Me
Chapter 85: Linen Linen
Chapter 85: Chapter 85: Linen Linen
In the main hall of the City Lord Mansion, every plate on the table had been wiped completely clean.
Samo still seemed to want more. "If I go build the stone house for you, will I be able to eat food like this every day?"
"Of course. I’ll personally take charge of your three meals a day."
Her dream of a two-story villa was one step closer, so Ophelia would agree to absolutely anything.
Samo licked his lips. "All right, then. Two Orange Crystal Stones, and three meals a day of dishes like these. Come pick me up tomorrow morning."
"No problem at all."
When Ophelia and Tyler walked hand-in-hand to the entrance of the City Lord Mansion, Moye came running over, drenched in sweat.
"Wait a minute! Wait a minute!"
Ophelia turned around in confusion. "City Lord Mo Ye, what’s wrong?"
"Little female, our Mr. Zerev really likes the dishes you cook. He hasn’t had a good appetite lately, so I’d like to ask you to cook for him."
"I’m sorry, City Lord, but I don’t have time right now." She had to cook for Samo every day from now on; coming all the way back to Ten Thousand Beasts City to cook for Zerev was simply unrealistic.
"Little female, don’t be in such a hurry to refuse. Our Mr. Zerev said that as long as you cook for him for ten days, he’ll give you one Green Crystal Stone.
"And you won’t have to run back and forth. Mr. Zerev will go to the Fu Clan to eat. Plus, whatever ingredients you need, you can just tell us."
Ophelia was tempted. Upgrading her spatial dimension now required more and more points; relying solely on animal skins could no longer satisfy her needs. A single Green Crystal Stone was worth 400,000 points. This was a fantastic deal!
"Sure. As for the ingredients, just bring whatever you see fit. I’ll cook based on what you bring."
"Great, then it’s a deal."
Early the next morning, Tyler came to Ten Thousand Beasts City to pick up Samo and head to the Fu Clan. Moye and Zerev also went along with them.
It was nearly noon when the group arrived at the Fu Clan. Seeing them from afar, Ophelia quickly poured two bowls of cooled water.
"Drink some water first. The food will be ready soon."
The meals for the elderly males had all been entrusted to Hai Rui. She only needed to take care of the food for Samo and Zerev. To show her welcome, Ophelia had been busy since the crack of dawn. She made a large pot of pork, potato, and cabbage stew, along with a stir-fry of pork with green peppers, stir-fried greens, and a cold cucumber salad.
"It’s sweet?" Zerev furrowed his brows.
"Yes, it’s brown sugar and pear tea. It’s good for soothing the lungs." After saying that, Ophelia ran off to check if the food was ready.
Moye also took a sip of the pear tea. "There’s sugar in this?"
Zerev gazed at Ophelia’s retreating back, his eyes dark and unreadable. Sugar was extremely rare and could only be found in the Holy Capital. Even Ten Thousand Beasts City didn’t have any.
"Tyler, where did you get this sugar?" Moye asked in a low voice.
Tyler swallowed his pear tea, a proud gleam in his eyes. "The Princess made it herself."
"She made it herself? How is that possible?" Even the Holy Capital only produced a dozen or so sacks of sugar a year, which showed just how complicated the sugar-making process was. Moye couldn’t believe this was something a little female from a lower-tier tribe could make. He was much more inclined to believe that this sugar had somehow trickled down from the Holy Capital. "Tyler, we know each other so well by now, don’t try to fool me. Which trading market did you exchange for this sugar?"
"The Princess really made it herself. She used a plant called sugarcane." Being doubted made Tyler a little unhappy. His Princess was so amazing; what was so surprising about her knowing how to make sugar?
Moye wanted to press further.
"Food is ready!"
To make dining more convenient, Ophelia had specifically asked someone to craft a few stone tables, providing enough space for everyone. After dishing out two basins of the pork and cabbage stew, Ophelia let the elderly males divide the rest of the pot. Although it wouldn’t make them full, tasting the savory flavor would still make their main food go down much better.
"You... what are you wearing?" Ophelia asked. She sat down at the stone table and only then noticed that Zerev wasn’t wearing animal skins today. Instead, he wore clothes made of linen that resembled the robes of an ancient scholar, though the hem only reached his knees.
She was incredibly surprised to discover that the Beast World already had linen. She wanted some too. Ever since the weather had warmed up after the rainy season, the animal skins had become stiflingly hot. She was sweating all day and was on the verge of developing a heat rash from being so bundled up.
Ophelia leaned close to Moye’s ear and whispered, "City Lord Mo Ye, how can I get the kind of clothes Mr. Zerev is wearing?"
"The clothes he’s wearing are made of linen. It’s a very precious fabric. No one can use it except for the major families in the Holy Capital." It was a symbol of status.
"Oh, I see," Ophelia said, feeling a bit disappointed. She had been hoping to make a set for herself.
Zerev ate his food gracefully. Seeing Ophelia’s face fall, he said flatly, "If you want one, I’ll have someone deliver one to you tomorrow."
Ophelia’s blue eyes instantly lit up, shining like the azure sea under the bright sun. "Thank you, Mr. Zerev! I’ll work hard to make even more delicious food for you."
Zerev gave a slight lift of his chin and continued picking up his food. Beside them, Moye’s gaze shifted back and forth between the two. He seemed to have noticed something, yet at the same time, perhaps nothing at all.
After resting for a while post-lunch, the elderly males went back up the mountain to continue quarrying stones.
Ophelia took out the house sketch she had drawn and showed it to Samo. Samo took the sketch, his brows furrowing slightly as he looked at it carefully again, his gaze lingering on the parchment for a long time.
Ophelia felt a bit worried. She wondered if he wouldn’t be able to build it. It was the simplest villa design she could think of, and it didn’t involve any complicated procedures.
"Did you draw this?" he asked.
"Yes."
"Because it’s inconvenient to bathe in a standard stone house, I wanted a separate room for bathing, and another room to use as a washroom."
Samo looked up, his eyes filled with surprise. "Your ideas are very novel. This is the first time I’ve ever seen a stone house like this. What is this thing in your room?" he asked, pointing at the bathtub in the bathing room.
"It’s for bathing. A person can sit inside and soak."
"Hmm, not bad. It’s very well thought out.
"Let me clarify one thing first. If you want to build a three-story stone house, you’ll need cement. I don’t know if the mountain here has any cement. If not, then I won’t be able to help you."
"Okay," Ophelia agreed obediently. The City Lord Mansion was a three-story stone building, which meant there had to be cement somewhere nearby. She wasn’t worried about this at all.
"Building a three-story stone house will take quite a lot of time, and you will all have to follow my instructions the entire time," Samo added.
"No problem."
During the afternoon, Tyler and Samo went up the mountain to see if they could find any limestone. Meanwhile, Ophelia took advantage of the fact that no one was paying attention to enter her spatial dimension and focus on her business.
She needed prey now, so she put her breeding farm to use. She had upgraded it to Level 3 in one go, expanding it to 300 square meters, spending 10,000 points in the process.
[Remaining points: 180,000]
She still needed 2,000,000 points to reach Level 8.
She checked the store.
Piglet: 20 points. Level 1. Maturation period: 120 hours (5 days). Occupies 5 square meters. Yields one 220-pound adult pig.
Lamb: 20 points. Level 1. Maturation period: 120 hours (5 days). Occupies 5 square meters. Yields one 220-pound adult sheep.
Other livestock details were the same.
Therefore, she decisively spent 1,200 points to buy 60 piglets.
[Remaining points: 178,800]
