Chapter 167: Chapter 167: Sophie’s Suspicion

At this point, Zerev couldn’t help but chuckle.

The Holy Capital only had so much to its name, yet Ophelia had already developed the craft of making sugar. If she were to learn how to weave cloth as well, I’m afraid a mere Fuzu Tribe wouldn’t be able to contain her. Someone as capable as her deserved a much broader world. Perhaps one day, she would also come to the Holy Capital.

"Go to the Winged Dragon Clan’s weaving workshop, get a loom, and send it to Ten Thousand Beasts City for Moye," he ordered.

"Yes, sir," Jiuying replied.

"And what about the purple Crystal Stone?" Jiuying pressed.

Zerev raised an eyebrow. "When it comes to her affairs, there’s no need for Klein to play the gallant."

Standing outside, Sophie couldn’t hear clearly, but she vaguely caught the words "Ten Thousand Beasts City" and "loom."

She couldn’t shake the feeling that something about Zerev had changed since he returned from Ten Thousand Beasts City this time, though she couldn’t quite put her finger on it. In the past, Zerev disliked wearing long linen robes because of the heat. Now, no matter where he went, he was always dressed in a long robe. Aside from his head, neck, and wrists—areas that necessarily had to be exposed—he kept the rest of his skin strictly covered. In the Holy Capital, this practically made him a complete anomaly among males.

Sophie had even guessed that Zerev might have experienced something in Ten Thousand Beasts City. But no matter how much she pried, he remained tight-lipped about anything related to the city. The only person who had gone with him was Jiuying, and Jiuying was his trusted confidant. She couldn’t get anything out of his mouth, either. This only made Sophie increasingly curious.

Lost in her wild thoughts, she returned home and sat in her room in a daze.

Brada came looking for her. Seeing his sister spacing out, he asked, "Did you go to Zerev’s place again today? Did he still refuse to see you?"

Brada felt utterly helpless in the face of his sister’s stubbornness. Zerev must be blind to look down on a female as noble as his sister.

"Sophie, if you ask me, Zerev might be good-looking, but the other males in the Holy Capital aren’t bad either. Why don’t we find someone else?"

Hearing her brother’s words, Sophie immediately retorted. "No! Brada, I only want Zerev! I don’t want any other mate but him."

In the Holy Capital, because the status of each noble family was extremely prestigious, most practiced monogamy. Only in a few very exceptional families would a polyandrous situation arise.

Seeing how obstinate she was, Brada didn’t dare say much more, lest they end up arguing again. "The Yilong Family Master has already acknowledged your marriage agreement. It’s a foregone conclusion that the two of you will become mates, sooner or later. What are you still worrying about?"

"Brada, I just feel that something isn’t right. How about you make a trip to Ten Thousand Beasts City for me and find out exactly what happened to Zerev there?"

Brada felt his sister was overthinking things. "What could a single male possibly do in Ten Thousand Beasts City? It’s not like he would take a lowly little female as a mate!"

Seeing his sister’s face darken, Brada’s expression turned serious. "Did you find out something?"

"No, but I just feel uneasy. Please, Brada, just make a trip for me," Sophie tugged at Brada’s sleeve, pouting softly.

The male smiled dotingly. "Alright, I promise you."

"Then go quickly, Brada!"

Brada facepalmed. "You have to at least let me finish handling the affairs I have on hand."

Smiling mischievously, Sophie pushed him toward the door. "Then hurry up and handle them so you can set off sooner!"

Brada shook his head helplessly and left.

With Zerev’s help, the loom was delivered to the Fuzu Tribe ten days later. Meanwhile, Ophelia was currently inspecting a bow and arrow.

A few days ago, she had discovered an ingenious young male named Lantai among the tribe’s new additions. Ever since seeing the wooden spades and rakes Lantai crafted, a bold plan had formed in Ophelia’s mind. She took out the bow and arrow she had purchased from the System Mall and had Lantai study them to make replicas. Since they lacked arrowheads made of refined iron, she had the male substitute them with sharply ground stones.

To her surprise, in just a few days, Lantai had crafted an identical bow and arrow set. Other than the arrowhead, it was practically a hundred percent replica.

"Lantai, you’re really something," Ophelia said, testing the bow in her hands with a bright smile, her eyes curving into crescents. "By the way, what material did you use for this bowstring?"

Seeing Ophelia’s satisfied expression, Lantai felt overjoyed to receive her approval. "I used the sinews of prey. They are both elastic and hard to snap."

Ophelia gave it a try. Although the power of this wooden arrow couldn’t compare to the product from the system, it was still far superior to those of the Mountain Goat Clan.

Males had an innate love for things like weapons. When Tyler and Klein saw the bows and arrows, their eyes lit up.

Ophelia looked at them. "Do you guys want to give it a try?"

"Yes."

"Sure."

And so, Ophelia carefully explained to them how to use the weapons. After firing a few arrows, the two of them gradually became proficient.

Klein even used the bow to shoot down a wild pigeon resting in a tree. Seeing the pigeon on the ground, Ophelia shot him an approving look. "Nice aim, Klein."

"It’s alright," Klein smiled modestly.

Not to be outdone, Tyler fired an arrow that struck a tree trunk a hundred meters away. Ophelia went over to check and found that the entire arrowhead was embedded deep inside the wood. Tyler stepped forward and had to exert some effort to pull the arrow out of the trunk.

Klein reached out and touched the hole left in the trunk, his eyes trembling slightly. "The destructive power of this thing is actually this strong," he murmured.

"If it hit a person..." Even if it didn’t kill them, it would inflict severe injuries. If it struck a vital point, like the heart or head, the target would likely die instantly.

Staring at the bow and arrow in his hands, Klein grew a bit tense. "Ophelia, something this powerful must never be known by outsiders."

Both Tyler and Klein’s gazes instantly landed on Lantai.

Ever since crafting the weapon, Lantai had been well aware of its power. Meeting their intense stares, he remained calm and collected. "Don’t worry. Since I chose to join the Fuzu Tribe, I will never do anything to betray it."

"No. You must swear to the Beast God that you will not leak this matter." Klein never trusted the hearts of men.

Tyler pursed his lips; he shared the same sentiment. Lantai looked at Ophelia.

Ophelia pondered for a moment before speaking. "I have some other things here. As long as you can guarantee not to leak their secrets, I can hand them over to you to study in the future."

With that, she took out a Crossbow from her woven basket. Then, right in front of the three men, she pulled the trigger. Three small arrows shot out at lightning speed. The sheer velocity made all three males widen their eyes in shock.

Lantai’s gaze fixed on the Crossbow in Ophelia’s hands, his heart racing with excitement. To think that such a small contraption could fire three arrows simultaneously—it was simply incredible. He desperately wanted to know the mechanics behind it. Since he was young, he had loved tinkering with strange and bizarre gadgets and had no passion for hunting. As a result, he wasn’t favored by his original tribe, which led him to join the Fuzu Tribe instead. Now, he was absolutely certain that joining the Fuzu Tribe was the right choice.

"Alright, alright! I’m willing to swear!"

Following Klein’s instructions, Lantai swore an oath to the Beast God. Once an oath was made, it had to be followed, otherwise the swearer would suffer the Beast God’s punishment.

Satisfied, Ophelia tossed the Crossbow into his arms. "Take it and study it. I hope you can recreate it as soon as possible."
