Chapter 143: Chapter 143: Choosing the First Partner in the Dueling Arena

Rejected and interrupted time and time again, Ali was getting quite angry despite her excellent temper.

Looking at the increasingly ugly expressions on the faces of the Golden Dragon Clan males, Ali couldn’t help but cry out.

Laxus choked, only just realizing what he was here to do today. He didn’t understand why he had been constantly rejecting the males Ali selected. It was as if a voice at the bottom of his heart was telling him not to let Ali mate with them, otherwise he would regret it.

Ali furiously poked Laxus’s chest with her finger. "Say something!"

Laxus’s lips moved, but he didn’t know how to answer.

His silence, in Ali’s eyes, was an admission.

Her eyes reddened as she stomped her foot. "I don’t need you to choose a mate for me. I’ve made my decision.

"I’m going to hold a dueling tournament to choose my first mate. All unmatched, single males can participate.

"You don’t need to worry about me. With so many people, there will definitely be one suitable to be my mate."

After saying that, Ali turned and ran off.

Laxus watched Ali’s retreating figure and waved his hand at the males behind him. The few Golden Dragon Clan males had originally come happily, but now that such a thing had happened, they all left the Fuzu Tribe with poor expressions and without a word.

Ophelia saw that Laxus wasn’t entirely apathetic about Ali finding a mate. Thus, she probed tentatively, "Laxus, do you actually like Ali? What are you really thinking?"

This time, Laxus didn’t directly deny it. Instead, his brows furrowed tightly, and he remained silent for a long time.

Just as Ophelia thought he wasn’t going to say anything, Laxus voiced his true thoughts. "She is the White Tiger King’s sister. I am just a Dragon Beast; I don’t deserve her."

The White Tiger Clan owned mines, and Ali had never suffered a bit of hardship since childhood. Moreover, if Ali mated with him, she would have to leave the White Tiger Clan and live with him in the Golden Dragon Clan. Then it would be very difficult for her to see Klein again. He couldn’t bear to separate her from her family.

"Laxus, what nonsense are you talking about?" Ophelia retorted. "You are the Young Clan Leader of the Golden Dragon Clan, and also the strongest male in the Golden Dragon Clan. How could you not deserve Ali?

"She likes you so much, how can you bear to reject her?"

After that, Laxus said nothing else.

Seeing her brother acting as stubborn as a mule, Ophelia could only give up.

After Laxus left, she wasn’t sleepy at all anymore. She and Zerev started strolling around the tribe with the cubs. Ever since the three little dragon cubs returned to the tribe, they hadn’t stepped out of the three-story stone house to avoid exposing their identities as Winged Dragon cubs.

The three little ones were curious about everything outside the stone house; their three pairs of eyes simply couldn’t take it all in.

"Ophelia, your cubs have already taken human form!"

Outside a five-story stone house, the chatting females were very surprised when they saw Ophelia and Zerev walking over with the cubs in their arms.

The three little ones were arguably the first batch of children born since the establishment of the Fuzu Tribe, so they were extremely popular. The young females scrambled to hold them.

Just as Maya reached out to take the third cub, the little one turned her face away, hugged Ophelia’s neck, and shook her head.

"I don’t want Auntie to hold me. It will crush the little baby in her tummy."

Ophelia was taken aback and blurted out, "You’re pregnant?"

Hearing this, Maya’s cheeks flushed slightly. She touched her still-flat abdomen and nodded gently. "Yes, it’s only been a month. How did you know?"

Ophelia instinctively looked at the third cub in her arms. The little one blinked her big, watery eyes.

"I just saw it." The third cub cooed softly.

Fortunately, cubs only established a telepathic connection with their mother and immediate family. Others couldn’t understand their conversation.

"I’ve been through it, so I just took a bold guess," Ophelia said to Maya.

The other young females were also pleasantly surprised to hear that Maya was pregnant. The center of attention instantly shifted from the three little dragon cubs to Maya.

"Maya, your luck is too good! You got pregnant right after the rainy season."

"Yeah, you and your mate have been together for five years, right?"

"You didn’t get pregnant all that time you were in the Snow Wolf Clan, but you managed it within half a year of arriving at the Fu Clan!"

"Our Fuzu Tribe is truly a blessed place."

The young females all looked at Maya with envious eyes. After the rainy season, the chances of young females getting pregnant increased. Watching their mates leave early and return late every day to hunt, they also hoped to bear offspring for them soon as a way to repay their thoughtful care and love.

"It will happen. Everyone will have their turn."

Seeing the envious looks in the young females’ eyes, Ophelia thought for a moment and decided to go back and look up some fertility-boosting prescriptions.

After playing for a while, the sky gradually darkened. Only then did Ophelia and Zerev take the cubs back home.

When they arrived home, white smoke was already rising from the stone house. Tyler was cooking.

"Princess, you’re back."

"Yes. Why didn’t you sleep a little longer instead of getting up to cook?" Ophelia’s heart ached as she watched Tyler bustling about.

Seeing this, Zerev couldn’t help but curl his lip. "He just cooked a meal, what’s the big fuss?"

Ophelia snapped her head up at his words. Tyler shot her a look, signaling that Zerev was jealous. Thus, the two of them said no more, and the meal passed in total silence.

"Tyler, boil some water, please. We’ll give the cubs a bath in a bit."

"Okay."

Seeing that the water was almost ready, Ophelia picked up the third cub and prepared to head to the bathroom.

Zerev stopped her and spoke in a deep voice. "It’s time to name the cubs."

Ophelia noticed his slightly unnatural expression and curled her lips into a faint smile. "Not angry anymore?"

Zerev knew exactly what Ophelia meant. Feigning composure, he changed the subject. "I’ve thought of a few names. See which one you like?"

Zerev rattled off a bunch of names, listing every name he could think of that carried a beautiful meaning. Ophelia thought they all sounded lovely and was momentarily spoiled for choice.

She thought for a moment and looked at the third cub in her arms. "Baby, what do you want to be called?"

The third cub cheered happily, "Mother, I want to be called Wendy!"

The second cub also hurriedly raised his hand. "I want to be called Dan’er."

And just like that, the second and third cubs’ names were decided.

Finally, all four of them cast their gazes on the eldest cub. Despite his young age, the eldest had a solemn expression on his little face.

"Mother, there are no names I want here. Can I pick my own name?"

Ophelia was surprised. She hadn’t expected the eldest to have such an independent sense of self at such a young age. She patted his head and smiled. "Of course you can. What do you want to be called?"

"I want to be called Kohen."

"Mhm, that is a good name."

Receiving Ophelia’s praise, an innocent smile bloomed on the eldest’s serious face.

So, it was settled. The three little dragon cubs finally had their names. From now on, Ophelia, Zerev, and the others would learn to use names to tell the three of them apart.

"Then it’s decided. In three days, we’ll hold their one-month-old celebration banquet."
