I Collect Skill Fragments in the Demon World
Chapter 1112 - 740: Limb Regeneration
It’s not just his father and brothers who’ve suffered misfortune—even he himself has, hasn’t he?
"One of my arms has been crippled, and my bloodline was sucked dry by that Great Demon. I’ve now completely fallen into being a useless cripple. Father was ambushed while escorting the shipment, and most of the Escort Masters of the entire agency have already been bought over by the Gong Family. My little brother has now had his mind thoroughly bewitched by the Gong Family as well. The whole Dragon Tiger Escort Agency is about to change hands. They came for that escort item—just what is that escort item, that it actually drew out so many experts to make a move?" Chen Ping’s voice was full of sorrow.
"Once the Gong Family supports my little brother to ascend to the orthodox position, then my little brother will, in the name of the Escort Agency’s greater good, order me to hand over that escort item, and the Gong Family will definitely get it. And once the escort item is lost, my Dragon Tiger Escort Agency will surely have its entire household wiped out, not a single corpse left intact." Chen Ping’s voice was full of confusion. "The reason the Gong Family has still kept you alive, I fear, is that they plan to wait until matters are settled, then ’save’ you, and leave us to take the blame."
Chen Ping was no fool. With his intellect, as long as he gave things a little thought, he could deduce everything.
One must know, that is the Gong Family—a power that has been passed down for who knows how many tens of thousands of years. How would they ever put a mere Dragon Tiger Escort Agency in their eyes?
"What am I supposed to do? Under the Gong Family’s wooing, all the elders in the agency have already thrown in with them. What can I, alone, possibly do?" Chen Ping stroked his empty sleeve, a trace of despair flashing in his eyes.
Unless his father could wake up, or he could repair his severed arm and then recover his lost strength—only then could he smoothly inherit the agency’s orthodox authority and become the one in charge.
The Dragon Tiger Escort Agency could not possibly be entrusted to a useless cripple with no Martial Dao Cultivation.
Although it was his father’s line that held sway over the Dragon Tiger Escort Agency, the entire agency was still a clan industry, with various uncles keeping watch at the side. Those uncles of his also held authority in their own hands.
Just as Chen Ping’s heart sank and he had no idea what to do, suddenly a burst of footsteps sounded outside the door. "Young Master, someone outside has delivered an invitation, asking you to attend a banquet."
"Inviting me to a banquet?" Chen Ping was stunned when he heard this.
He had already fallen to such a state, and yet someone still invited him to a banquet?
The servant handed over the invitation. After Chen Ping took it and opened it, although no name was written on it, just from the tone of the letter he could instantly judge that the one who had sent the invitation was Zhang Chen, and so he nodded. "I understand."
Holding the invitation and looking at it for a while, Chen Ping put it away, then said to the servant, "I understand. But why is there no address written?"
"The other side said that if you are willing to attend, once the appointed time comes, they will send someone to fetch you." The servant replied.
If the letter had included time and address, Mr. Gong Si would long since have gone according to the address to seek them out. How would he have passed the letter on to Chen Ping?
Time flashed by in haste, and in the blink of an eye it was the second day. Zhang Chen stood beneath a great tree, his eyes fixed on the distant setting sun, a trace of contemplation in his gaze. Threads of Sun True Flame light flowed in his pupils as he raised his head to look at the sun overhead, seeming to sense that today’s sun was somewhat unusual.
"Master, the guests have arrived!"
The servant stepped forward, standing respectfully behind Zhang Chen and bowing.
Hearing this, Zhang Chen turned his head to glance at the servant, then lifted his gaze toward the direction of the front gate, a strange look flashing in his eyes. "Seems that my good friend not only came himself, he’s even brought a guest."
Zhang Chen seemed not to notice that guest hiding in the shadows, and moved unhurriedly to the gate. There he saw a servant controlled by the Blood God Child already waiting with a carriage outside. Chen Ping stepped down from it outside the gate. Seeing the imposing residence, he couldn’t help but show a look of astonishment; he had never imagined that Zhang Chen had actually carved out such a grand enterprise in Jinling.
"Mr. Chen, you finally came. I’ve prepared a humble spread of wine and dishes, just waiting for you." Zhang Chen clasped his fists toward Chen Ping.
Chen Ping’s voice was full of disbelief. "Zhang, this is your residence?"
"My residence." Zhang Chen nodded upon hearing this.
"How did you get so rich?" With a look of astonishment, Chen Ping followed Zhang Chen into the courtyard.
At these words, Zhang Chen smiled. "I was just lucky. During the great chaos in Jinling City, I took advantage of the turmoil to gain some wealth, then bought up a bit of property."
"You really do have good luck." A trace of emotion appeared on Chen Ping’s face. He marveled at the subtlety of fate: that youth who once went hungry on the refugee road in the Northern Land actually enjoyed such prosperity today—was this not Creation’s mockery?
The two of them sat down. Zhang Chen’s gaze, without drawing attention, swept toward a flowerbed in the distance, then he poured wine for Chen Ping. "Today I invited Mr. Chen here because I have a piece of Creation I wish to bestow upon you."
"Creation? What sort of Creation? Don’t tell me it can make my arm grow back?" Chen Ping asked, his interest listless.
Hearing Chen Ping’s words, Zhang Chen laughed. "As it happens, some days ago I obtained a bottle of Divine Water that can revive the dead and regrow flesh on white bone. It may well be able to make your severed arm grow back—we cannot yet say for sure."
"Really?" Hearing this, Chen Ping instantly perked up.
Hearing Chen Ping’s words, Zhang Chen took a jade bottle out from his sleeve. The bottle was sealed with a stopper, and then Zhang Chen pushed it in front of him:
"Drink the water in this jade bottle. By then, it might just come true."
What was in the bottle was Li Spring; Li Spring Water certainly didn’t have the effect of Limb Regeneration, but Zhang Chen possessed the Law of Life, and he was only using the Li Spring Water as a cover.
As for the claim that activating the Law of Life would consume his lifespan? Zhang Chen only needed a single breath to regrow the other party’s severed limb—how much lifespan could that really cost him? Ten years? Or a hundred?
"What kind of water is this, to have such an effect?" Chen Ping’s eyes were full of anticipation. He impatiently pulled out the stopper, and without caring what was inside, he tilted his head back and poured it all down.
The water gurgled down into his body. Along with the sweetness lingering in his mouth, a surge of heat instantly rose up in his Dantian.
This was Li Spring; washing the marrow, cleansing the bones, and extending lifespan were nothing but commonplace. After a whole bottle of Li Spring Water went down, it directly soaked into his body, helping to wash away all hidden internal injuries, and all the latent problems left by his past Martial Dao practice were swept clean.
But Chen Ping didn’t care about the changes in his body. His eyes were fixed dead on his severed arm. In the next moment, he saw the wound at the broken arm squirm, followed by a wave of itching rising up, making Chen Ping unable to help reaching with his fingers to scratch. Then, in the next instant, Chen Ping was stunned, watching that broken arm begin to wriggle and actually swell and grow; within a few breaths, a completely intact arm had already grown back out.
"Th-this... is this real?" Chen Ping stared at his own arm, his eyes full of disbelief.
It wasn’t just Chen Ping; even in the grass not far away, there was a sudden disturbance in Qi Mechanism, but in the blink of an eye it was forcibly suppressed again.
"Unbelievable!" Chen Ping looked at the arm that had grown out, his eyes full of incredulity.
You really think it’s easy to restore the fleshly body in the Extraordinary World?
If it were easy to repair the fleshly body, Taiyi Daoist wouldn’t have needed to craft a Lotus Body for Nezha.
Treasures that mend the fleshly body are just as rare and hard to find, incomparably precious. Their value is in no way inferior to those mysterious items of the Eleventh Tier or Twelfth Tier.
Then Chen Ping pushed the table aside and actually knelt straight down before Zhang Chen. A solid iron-boned man, at this moment his tiger eyes were brimming with tears and his eye sockets were red and swollen: "Zhang, from today on you’re my reborn parent. If you ever give me an order in the future and I, Chen Ping, utter so much as a single word of refusal, may I be struck by thunder and die a miserable death."
"With the bond between us, what’s the point of saying such formal things?" Zhang Chen hurriedly helped Chen Ping back up.
He felt that Chen Ping was a good man, with a chivalrous heart, and that was why he’d befriended him.
Chen Ping sat down again, looking at his fully functional arm, his eyes showing a trace of disbelief: "With a complete arm, I can once again circulate Qi Blood through my meridians and continue cultivating the Martial Dao. Even if my Bloodline Power has been crippled, it doesn’t matter—I still have the Martial Dao!"
Hearing this, Zhang Chen glanced at Chen Ping. The effects of Li Spring possessed unbelievable power; there was still residual True Dragon Bloodline Power in Chen Ping’s body, and with the nourishment of Li Spring, once his body finished transforming, that Bloodline Power would continue to grow out again.
Especially after the nourishment of Li Spring, the Bloodline Power would completely fuse with him, turning into his blood, passed down through his descendants for generations.
Chen Ping lifted his wine cup, toasting Zhang Chen in an excited tone, speaking and crying at the same time. Only heaven knew what kind of pressure he had endured these past days.
Now at least his arm had grown back; he had hope of regaining his Martial Dao Cultivation. When that happened, he’d have a chance to hold down the scene at the escort agency. As for the Gong Family, he’d think of a way to deal with them later. The Gong Family, scrupulous about that escorted item, instead wouldn’t dare to overly force him.
The two of them were halfway through their drinking when Chen Ping’s body, under the nourishment of Li Spring, actually began to spontaneously generate Qi Blood. His complexion suddenly changed; not caring to greet Zhang Chen, he hurried over to the side to assume a standing stake posture.
Another hour later, crackling sounds rang all over Chen Ping’s body, arcs of lightning coursing around him. A bloodline within Chen Ping was actually beginning to revive, and what was reviving was the Power of Thunder.
Zhang Chen drank while quietly watching Chen Ping cultivate. Only after a full five hours did he see Chen Ping slowly finish, with all the phenomena around him completely disappearing.
"Zhang!" Chen Ping opened his eyes, electric light flickering in his pupils, his face flushed with excitement as he looked at Zhang Chen: "What kind of treasure is that liquid of yours? The Bloodline Power I lost has actually been re-nurtured?"
"If I were you, I wouldn’t be fussing over what that liquid is right now. I’d hurry back home to rest and nourish myself, and take the chance to draw out its power to the fullest. Maybe it’ll let you undergo a complete transformation and step into the Martial Dao Acupoints realm." Zhang Chen smiled and pointed at the door.
That was Li Spring Water after all; helping him open his Acupoints was entirely possible!
The greatest effect of Li Spring Water was to nourish his body, strengthening his bones and Qi Blood.
