Chapter 111: Chapter 109: Sudden Attack

"No genetic data detected. Unable to bind for use!"

Chen Tao’s attempt failed again. He said in frustration, "Boss, it’s no use!"

Lu Feng’s eyes, however, lit up.

’This means the problem isn’t with the Mecha, but its nature. Under my system, this Mecha is classified as a game item. I should be able to use the special properties of my Exploration skill to force a bond with it.’

Two more members of the Salvation Army also tried to perform a genetic scan on the Mecha suit, but they too were unable to pass the check.

This meant that even if they had participated in the assessment before, they hadn’t passed it.

Seeing this, Wang Cheng sighed and pressed his palm directly onto the central control screen of the first Mecha suit. The next moment, a prompt sounded: "Genetic data detected. Mecha suit activating for the first time. Initiating user binding procedure..."

As the program ran the genetic binding, the Mecha components inside the case began to move. A gauntlet started to fit itself onto Wang Cheng’s hand. Soon, the other parts flew out one by one, rapidly encasing his arms, head, chest, and finally, his entire body.

On the chest of the Mecha suit was an illuminated energy indicator light.

If the light was on, it meant there was energy. If it went out, it meant the energy was depleted.

Wang Cheng was now completely covered in a sleek layer of Mecha armor.

Chen Tao and the others stared with wide eyes, completely captivated.

Lu Feng, on the other hand, couldn’t help but curse inwardly. ’This game designer is a total plagiarist! An absolute, shameless copycat! That scene was practically identical to the one in *Iron Man*.’

Even the design looked somewhat similar.

It just lacked any color and wasn’t as smooth as the Iron Man suit; in fact, it looked quite crude.

Even so, it made Lu Feng eager to try. He pressed his hand on the second Mecha suit, used his Exploration skill, saw the information again, and then directly chose to bind and use it.

The next moment, the components of this second Mecha suit also began to move. They started fitting onto his body one by one, and soon, the parts had covered him completely.

"The boss can use it?" Chen Tao blurted out.

However, the game designer did have some semblance of a conscience and didn’t copy everything. For instance, this Mecha suit couldn’t fly like the Iron Man suit, nor did it have its many functions, and it certainly didn’t have an arc reactor for power.

This, however, made Lu Feng take issue with the game designer.

’Talk about missing the point, right?’

’He didn’t copy the things he should have, but copied the things he shouldn’t. So amateurish.’

’How great would it be if the game designer had just copied the functions of the Iron Man suit completely?’

Just as Lu Feng was lost in thought, another member of the Salvation Army passed the genetic scan for the third Mecha suit. After binding with it, the suit’s components quickly assembled around his body.

This meant that out of all these Salvation Army members, only this one other person had passed the pre-apocalypse assessment.

The three men tested out their Mecha suits for a moment, but they soon reached into the cases and deactivated them. The Mecha suit on Wang Cheng quickly disassembled, its components returning to the case one by one.

The other Salvation Army member did the same.

Moving around with the Mecha suit active consumed energy, so naturally, they couldn’t afford to waste it.

Lu Feng, however, had no such concerns. He raised his hand, and a firing port opened in the palm of the Mecha. A laser beam shot out, striking the ground nearby and blasting it apart.

The power of that laser was leagues beyond that of a laser rifle.

After a few more laser shots, the ground was completely mangled.

With each laser blast, Lu Feng also noticed that the energy displayed on his virtual screen decreased by 3%.

Seeing this, Lu Feng had a thought and took out the Energy Storage Device from his inventory space. It still held 534 energy points.

He aimed the storage device at the energy recharge port, and the consumed power quickly replenished.

Meanwhile, the value on the Energy Storage Device decreased by 3 points.

In other words, 1 energy point could restore 1% of the suit’s power, whereas 2 energy points could provide a laser rifle with 20 shots.

Therefore, the Mecha suit’s laser attack was much stronger than a laser rifle’s.

After studying it for a bit, Lu Feng also deactivated the Mecha suit and returned it to its case. With a thought, he stored the entire case in his inventory space, making it convenient for his own use later.

As for the other two cases, he had Wang Cheng and his men carry them directly onto the bridge and load them into the hover-truck.

From now on, these two Mecha suits would be kept at the base for use.

"Let’s go, back to base!" Lu Feng was in high spirits.

But just then, a piercing whistle suddenly tore through the air. An artillery shell instantly fell from the sky, heading straight for the bridge where they stood.
