Chapter 109: Chapter 107: Such Amazing Technology? Mecha Weapons Found
The moment Lu Feng opened "Top Secret File 1," a virtual image popped up on the holographic computer.
The key difference this time was the virtual image. It wasn’t a computer interface. Instead, a light emanated outwards, first dimming the surroundings.
Then, other multicolored lights fanned out, bringing color to the dim space. The scene around him surprisingly transformed into the interior of a large hall.
The hall was incredibly realistic. The tables, chairs, and sofas were all so vivid they seemed to be right there in front of him.
Lu Feng reached out to touch the sofa in front of him. As he did, it rippled, and streams of data flowed across its surface.
The scene was just like the holographic video technology Iron Man demonstrated at the beginning of a Marvel movie—only even more realistic.
Just then, a woman and two men were seen returning from outside.
The woman, dressed in a white top and a short skirt, was stunningly beautiful with an excellent figure.
The woman cooed, "Hubby, I had so much fun today. Since it’s your younger brother’s first time visiting, you have to make him a delicious meal tonight."
"Alright, my queen!" The man nodded. He set his things down, headed to the kitchen, tied on an apron, and started cooking.
The woman, meanwhile, pulled the other young man, who was in his early twenties, down onto the sofa.
The video feed then zoomed in, bringing the pair right in front of Lu Feng. He could see them clearly—so clearly that even the woman’s underwear was faintly visible.
Lu Feng was at a loss for words.
’Is the movie technology in this game world really this incredible?’
But then, Lu Feng’s eyes widened. While her husband was busy cooking in the kitchen, the woman actually placed her legs onto his younger brother’s lap and began to gently...
The scene that followed was rather indescribable and was skipped entirely.
Lu Feng could feel his face flush red.
’To hell with these "Top Secret Files."’
’Who the hell was using this information sphere before me?’
Lu Feng sighed. He knew that an information sphere containing a holographic map to Mecha weapons shouldn’t possibly have this kind of video on it.
This suggested it had passed through more than one owner. Or perhaps the person who loaded the holographic map wasn’t the original owner at all, but someone who found the sphere and, under special circumstances, had to use it as-is.
’As for why they weren’t deleted, and were even renamed "Top Secret Files"... did that even need explaining?’
’Who, in the middle of the apocalypse, would delete such a treasure trove if they found it?’
Lu Feng immediately clicked on "Top Secret File 2." Another virtual movie unfolded. ’This time, the legs are really long.’
"Top Secret File 3." ’This one is... flavorful.’
"Top Secret File 4"
...
"Top Secret File 137!"
After watching 137 "leading ladies," Lu Feng finally surrendered. He didn’t dare watch any more, afraid he’d lose control of himself.
The sheer number—1080—was terrifying to even think about.
One of this information sphere’s previous owners must have been a god-tier connoisseur.
The key was his impeccable taste. Every single one of them was conventionally attractive and, most importantly, gorgeous.
Lu Feng forced himself to stop thinking about it and opened the last file, an unlabled one named "Map.JPA."
He clicked it open. The scene around him changed again, replaced by a holographic map of a city. On the map, a single red dot blinked continuously.
That must be the location of the Mecha weapons.
Lu Feng immediately took a walkie-talkie from his inventory and told Lin Jiao to come to the core building area.
Lin Jiao arrived quickly. The moment she entered, she saw the holographic map and asked curiously, "Boss, what is this?"
Lu Feng explained, "It’s a map. The red dot marks the location of three powerful Mecha weapons. Go gather some people. Get Wang Cheng and the others from the Salvation Army. We’re going to retrieve those weapons."
Lin Jiao’s eyes lit up. She had, of course, heard of Mecha weapons. They were the latest in single-person combat weaponry, developed just before the apocalypse and armed with laser-based equipment.
What’s more, their laser weapons were far more powerful than laser rifles and even included a laser cannon.
’The boss says there are three Mecha weapons? If we get them, we won’t have to worry about that mysterious faction he mentioned, right?’
With that thought, Lin Jiao hurried out to gather everyone. Before long, she had assembled Chen Tao, Chen Hao, Wang Cheng, and the other members of the Salvation Army, as well as a small combat squad from Qingfeng Base.
Xu Bin and Guo Zhen were left in charge of guarding the base.
After two hover-trucks left the base, Lu Feng used a data link to send the holographic map to their central control consoles.
This allowed the drivers to navigate directly to the location.
...
The location marked on the holographic map was in North Point Park, within Celestial Sea City.
There were no suitable locations for a base in the vicinity, and the City East Alliance was also far away. The roads, however, seemed to lead to a more suburban area.
This was likely to facilitate transportation.
Soon, Lu Feng and his group arrived near the area marked by the red dot.
And they immediately noticed something was wrong.
The area was too quiet. They hadn’t seen a single zombie on the road, and there wasn’t a single car on the entire street.
Normally, that shouldn’t be possible. The city was full of people and cars; a road like this couldn’t possibly be so empty.
At this point, Wang Cheng said, "It seems the road was cordoned off at the time, specifically for the transport convoy to pass through."
This seemed to answer Lu Feng’s question.
In the real world, streets were often cordoned off whenever important weapons and materials were being transported.
It just seemed that the restricted area here was a bit large.
Soon, the group stopped on an overpass. This was the final location marked by the red dot.
"Looks like there was a fight here."
"This is an explosion from a grenade launcher!"
"Someone fought the transport convoy?"
"The transport vehicle is gone."
Lu Feng stopped at the location marked by the red dot and saw signs of a battle all around. Then he noticed the most critical problem: the transport vehicle was nowhere to be seen.
The three Mecha weapons were supposed to be in that vehicle.
"Down there! The truck broke through the guardrail and fell off the bridge!" a member of the Salvation Army shouted.
Lu Feng rushed over with his men and looked down. Below the bridge was a dry riverbed, and sure enough, there was the transport truck in the middle of it, its exterior battered and dented from the fall.
Lu Feng immediately started leading his people down from the bridge.
Lin Jiao shouted to the combat personnel, "Secure the perimeter!"
Once under the bridge, Lu Feng went straight to the truck and violently tore open its already damaged door.
But when he saw what was inside, his brows furrowed.
There were no Mecha weapons inside at all.
"Looks like they were taken. I wonder if they’re nearby," Wang Cheng said at once, beckoning a few Salvation Army members to start searching the area with him.
Lu Feng, meanwhile, glanced at the scanner on his wrist. He immediately turned it on, cranked the power to maximum, and began scanning the surroundings.
A full sweep found nothing, until he scanned a bridge culvert and detected several mangled humanoid outlines, as well as the outlines of three boxes.
The Mecha weapons had to be in those three boxes.
The three boxes weren’t very large, only about the size of suitcases.
But before being deployed, the Mecha were stored in a compact form of this size.
In the game’s lore videos, the container for the Mecha was almost identical to the suitcase Tony Stark used to deploy his Iron Man armor on the racetrack in the Marvel movie.
Clearly, the game developers had ripped off that scene from the Iron Man movie.
They had even copied a fair bit of the Mecha weapon concept itself.
