Chapter 180: Chapter 119: A Terrible Matter! The Master’s Righteous Cause?
It was a heartbreaking thought.
But that wasn’t their responsibility. Their job now was to manage the aftermath and take preventative measures.
"So, what’s our response?" Liu County spoke up again.
After all, Li Yuan Farm fell under the jurisdiction of the Tourism Bureau, so it was up to them to take the lead with any proposals. Anything that could prevent this from happening again was a good thing.
Zhao Han was prepared. "My proposal is simple," he said. "Have Boss Zhang add an entry inspection procedure. Additionally, our county should consider establishing a tourist police force. After all, Li Yuan Farm is already handling 15,000 visitors a day, and that number will only increase. We have to be prepared."
"Li Yuan Farm’s security guards resolved the issue this time, but they ultimately have no law enforcement authority. The presence of patrolling tourist police would be a much stronger deterrent!"
"Yes, that’s a good idea. What else?" Liu County nodded. He had looked into the idea of tourist police before.
With the rapid development of the economy and the significant improvement in people’s standard of living, the tourism industry was boosting the economy. But at the same time, tourism security management was facing new challenges and demands. Relying solely on the attraction’s own security staff was no longer enough.
You could find plenty of news online about unruly tourists: first, there was the woman who brazenly knocked over a scenic area’s trash cans; then another who pushed down one sign after another; and yet another who tried to bring her granddaughter past the safety line to take a picture with a lion cub, and so on.
These incidents just weren’t as severe as the one at Li Yuan Farm.
This kind of troublemaking was common at tourist attractions. The problem was that these tourists acted with utter impunity. They weren’t afraid of the security guards, who had no law enforcement authority. They’d even strike a pose as if to say, ’If you dare touch me, I’ll call the police.’
And that was why the tourist police came into being: to deal with such ill-mannered visitors. In addition to being responsible for security at parks and attractions, their duties also included promoting tourism safety, directing tour buses, and so on.
Of course, the most important aspect was their authority to enforce the law.
For incidents that constituted a public disturbance, the tourist police could slap a pair of handcuffs on the offender right on the spot. More serious violations could earn someone a free 3-to-15-day "vacation" behind bars.
So, it was indeed time for Li Yuan Farm to take action.
Zhao Han immediately added, "As for the rest, we should consult the specialized departments for their recommendations and ask for Director Wu’s opinion. But when the time comes, the farm will definitely need to have a dedicated station established on-site. I happen to know that one of Boss Zhang’s cousins works in the system, and their relationship is quite good. We could suggest having him transferred over. That way, if anything comes up, it’ll be much easier for both sides to discuss and coordinate!"
"Yes!" Liu County nodded, then decisively picked up his phone and started dialing.
...
Zhang Zhao knew nothing of this. Although he was already a junior supervisor at his station, he was aware that at his age, another promotion was unlikely in the near future. He simply wasn’t someone with a powerful background.
So, all he could do was dutifully build up his seniority, wait for an opportunity, and do the tedious work. Today, for instance, his task was to lead a team to various sites to publicize the latest safety policies.
Back at the station, he greeted his colleagues as usual. He had barely sat down when he saw the chief approach, and he hurriedly stood up to greet him.
The chief got right to the point. "Zhang Zhao, you’ve been summoned to a meeting by the county. Get over there right away!"
"Huh? Me?" Zhang Zhao was visibly stunned.
’Why on earth would the county summon me for a meeting?’ If it was something important, they would have called one of his superiors, or even the chief.
The chief was puzzled as well. After all, he was the one who should have been called for a meeting.
Then, they both reached the same conclusion: it couldn’t be for anything important.
"Whatever it is, they asked for you by name, so just go and show your face," the chief instructed.
"Yes, sir!" Zhang Zhao nodded. He just hoped the meeting would end quickly so he could get back to compiling the progress reports for the publicity campaign.
The safety awareness campaign was an annual task, and a top priority at that.
