Chapter 118: Chapter 95: I Really Can’t Do It! Time to Use Special Methods

Zhao Neng wasn’t the only one who was surprised. Chen Hu and the other construction team bosses were astonished as well.

’What the hell is this construction team working so desperately for?’

’Can’t we all just make good money?’

’Why are they working themselves to death this late at night?’

Naturally, Zhao Neng didn’t believe they were actually working 24 hours a day. That was completely impossible. They were probably just working a little late.

But he was soon proven wrong.

By 8:00 PM, the other team still showed no sign of stopping.

It looked like they were really planning to work through the night.

"Holy shit, where did this construction team come from? They have no respect for the rules!" Chen Hu couldn’t help but complain. "Is even construction this cutthroat now?"

If every construction team operated like this, then the rest of them might as well just quit.

"Can we report them? Aren’t there rules against nighttime construction?" Zhao Neng couldn’t just let the other team keep working like this, and a malicious idea immediately came to mind.

However, the construction team bosses just shook their heads.

One of them explained, "The ban on nighttime construction is due to the Environmental Noise Pollution Prevention and Control Law, specifically Article 30. It applies to construction in urban areas, where work is prohibited at night if the noise exceeds the specified limits."

"Even for emergency repairs, rescue operations, or in cases where continuous work is necessary due to production requirements or special circumstances, nearby residents must be given public notice."

Zhao Neng understood.

This place was far from any urban area, and there wasn’t a soul around late at night. Their construction wasn’t bothering anyone, and for all he knew, they might have already obtained a permit for nighttime work.

In other words, reporting them would be useless.

Zhao Neng had no choice but to turn to Chen Hu and his men. "Gentlemen, I need you to start working at night as well. We cannot fall behind them. If our progress lags too much, this project—and the subsequent development of tens of thousands of acres—will all be for nothing."

Hearing this, Chen Hu and the other construction bosses exchanged troubled glances.

One of the bosses said, "President Zhao, we only have so many workers at the moment, which limits our construction capacity. Even if we split them into two shifts, our overall output won’t change. If you want to speed up progress, we’ll have to hire more workers and organize a night shift."

Another boss chimed in, "Exactly. Otherwise, there’s no point."

Upon hearing this, Zhao Neng immediately said, "Then hire more people! Start at once. We absolutely cannot fall behind them."

Chen Hu then spoke up again. "President Zhao, at the current price, we can only afford this many workers. To find more people on short notice, especially for a night shift, it’s definitely going to cost more. We can’t absorb that cost ourselves."

The other construction bosses all nodded in agreement.

The implication was clear: they wanted more money.

Zhao Neng, of course, understood what they were getting at. But with no other choice, he gritted his teeth and said, "Fine, I’ll pay more. I just want progress. We can sign a new contract."

Hearing this, Chen Hu instantly broke into a smile and went to organize the workers he had brought along.

’I’m really going to make a killing this time.’

After all, he had only brought half of his crew here. The other half would head over directly after finishing their current job, and he could earn an extra premium on every single one of them. Of course, he’d have to find some temps to fill the gaps in the meantime.

Naturally, Zhao Neng was unaware of this scheme. Seeing the special nighttime construction lights switch on at his own site and watching the whole area hum with activity, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

For some reason, he suddenly felt a pang of regret about this whole project.

He’d clearly booked all the construction teams in You City and the two neighboring counties in advance. He’d even locked in contracts with the material suppliers ahead of time. So how in the world did his competitor find a crew that worked this frantically? And they were hauling in truckload after truckload of materials. ’Where on earth are they getting all those supplies?’

For a plan to run into trouble right from the start was clearly not a good omen.

But things had already reached this point; he could only bite the bullet and press on.

Regardless, as long as his campsite didn’t fall behind and was completed in time, he still had the upper hand—even if he had to burn through his own capital to crush his competitor.

「Time passed.」

「The next day soon arrived.」

The moment Zhang Lin arrived at Li Yuan Farm that day, he went to check on the construction progress at the campsite.

The entire 2,000-mu plot of land had been cordoned off, preventing outsiders from approaching.

As the owner, he was naturally unaffected.

Once inside the construction site, he could see that a large area had already been laid with turf.

There are many styles of campsites—woodland, beach, and waterfront, to name a few—but the most popular has always been the classic grass campground. Camping on a vast, lush green lawn is an absolutely refreshing and uplifting experience.

The 2,000-mu campsite designed by Fu Yao was based on this grassy model.

The construction team from the game was still working with incredible speed. At this rate, it would take them roughly half a month to finish building the entire 2,000-mu campsite.

He couldn’t wait to see the look on Zhao Neng of Kailin Investment’s face once this campsite was finished.

Zhao Neng, having woken up early, also rushed over to his own construction site to check on the latest progress.

After all, the construction team he’d hired had supposedly worked all night.

But when he arrived at the site, his brow furrowed.

His own construction site was completely quiet, while the one at Li Yuan Farm was still buzzing with activity, looking as if it had never stopped for a break.

He looked around and saw all his workers sleeping. Worse, it seemed they had accomplished next to nothing the entire night. It was as if that initial, feverish burst of activity had been put on just for him to see.

"Damn it!" Zhao Neng swore. He rushed out of the construction site, got in his car, and sped toward Li Yuan Farm.

He refused to believe the other team was so reckless that they could actually work 24 hours straight.
