Chapter 734 -189: Emotional Silk Severed, the Killing Trap Begins
The Stone Forest itself was a massive, naturally formed “Gathering Array.”
It forcibly gathered the Spiritual Mechanism from the Secret Realm and even the more distant void, concentrating it here until it was so dense it almost wouldn’t disperse. A single breath made one’s Primordial Qi swell.
But where there is fortune, disaster lurks. A Grotto Heaven Blessed Land like this naturally gave rise to countless ferocious Demon Beasts, which hid in shadowy crevices, lying in wait to devour the unwary.
However, compared to these living creatures, the “Stone Statue Array” at the front of the Stone Forest, composed of countless towering stone statues, was the true threshold of death.
This Array guarded the only path leading deeper, to the Purifying Nightmare Spirit Crystal and the Clear and Muddy Spirit Source Ore Vein.
The statues were not made of gold or jade. Their texture was like stone or iron, and they stood silently amidst the rubble in various poses.
Yet every single one of them emanated a bone-chilling, murderous aura.
The moment they were triggered by the aura of a living being, they would “come alive,” possessing infinite strength and being nigh indestructible.
Furthermore, they could use the Array to command the nearly infinite Heaven and Earth Spiritual Mechanism within the Stone Forest, giving them a ceaseless supply of power.
Most despairingly, even if they were blasted to dust, their scattered remains would swiftly re-form and rise again as the light of the Array flowed.
The cycle would repeat, a state of Undying Immortality.
An ordinary Bright Heart Realm Cultivator trapped in this Array, even if they could resist for a time, would eventually be worn down by the endless attrition and die of exhaustion.
But at this moment, deep within the Stone Forest, in the core of the Grand Array, three figures were locked in a fight to the death, completely ignoring the stone statues that frantically assailed them.
The aftershocks of their battle were a hundred times more terrifying than the statues’ attacks.
BOOM! RUMBLE! CRACK!
The deafening roars and the explosive sound of metal striking stone practically merged into one continuous din.
Violent Force, like an invisible tsunami, swept outward in frenzied waves from the center of the battle.
The ferocious statues, each possessing immense strength, shattered the instant they touched these spreading shockwaves. They cracked like porcelain struck by a great hammer before exploding into countless pieces of rubble of all sizes, which rained down with a rustle.
But soon, the Array on the ground flashed with a faint light, and the fragments began to tremble and slowly reassemble.
Amidst the intersecting lights and shadows, Sword Qi as chilling as a winter blizzard crisscrossed the air, tearing through the gray-yellow sky.
The gleam of a spear was like a roaring dragon, stirring up gusts of a bloody wind.
There was also a treacherous and cunning sword shadow, like a viper in the darkness, that would strike at the most opportune moments with vicious and sinister intent.
Another direct, unadorned clash!
A blinding radiance exploded, and a boom louder than thunder shook the entire Stone Forest.
The three figures used the force of the Rebound to separate abruptly, each landing atop a massive stone pillar.
The rock beneath their feet cracked, and their auras churned.
They were none other than Sword Traceless, Wang Yiyi, and Lin Xiao of Prince Zhennan’s Mansion!
Sword Traceless, dressed in spotless white robes, pointed his longsword diagonally at the ground. Its blade was as clear as water, reflecting his emotionless eyes.
He faced two opponents—Wang Yiyi with her fierce and domineering bright Silver Spear, and Lin Xiao with his ghostly, unpredictable sword. Yet, he showed no signs of being at a disadvantage. Instead, he radiated an air of cold effortlessness.
Wang Yiyi wore a tight-fitting, dark red martial arts uniform that accentuated her athletic and impressive curves. Her beautiful face was grim, and her Silver Spear, “Reversed Scale,” pulsed with a somber light. A faint Dragon Form shadow coiled around its tip.
Her chest heaved slightly. Her gaze, fixed on Sword Traceless, was as sharp as a falcon’s, yet it couldn’t hide a trace of gravity.
From their recent exchange, she had already determined that Sword Traceless’s sword was the epitome of fast, precise, and ruthless.
Without any superfluous moves, every strike aimed directly for an opening, making her domineering Spear Technique feel sluggish, as if caught in an invisible spiderweb.
‘Though I hate to admit it, I am indeed slightly inferior in a one-on-one fight.’
‘Beating him would be extremely difficult.’ ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
‘Killing him would be next to impossible.’
‘And that’s even when I’m teamed up with Lin Xiao.’
Lin Xiao was also reeling with shock. His last few incredibly risky sneak attacks had all been effortlessly neutralized by his opponent’s sword, as if the man had eyes in the back of his head.
He had even nearly been wounded by a sharp counterattack.
‘This man’s strength is beyond my expectations.’
The surrounding stone statues continued to tirelessly re-form and charge, but the three combatants didn’t spare them a single glance.
These inanimate objects were nothing more than background noise and cannon fodder in their intense battle.
Sword Traceless’s gaze swept over Wang Yiyi and Lin Xiao, his brow furrowing almost imperceptibly.
‘Wang Yiyi is more troublesome than I expected, and Lin Xiao’s Swordsmanship is also decent.’
‘My chances of winning a two-on-one fight are slim.’
‘If this drags on, setting aside the consumption of my Primordial Qi, I could attract other complications or be further hindered by this Stone Statue Array, which would put me at a disadvantage.’
Thinking this, Sword Traceless no longer hesitated. He gave the two a detached glance, and his body flickered, about to transform into a stream of light and flee.
“Trying to leave?”
Wang Yiyi was not about to let him go. She sneered, her voice like clashing metal, “Have you asked my ‘Reversed Scale’ for permission?”
Before her voice had faded, she stomped her foot, and the top of the stone pillar beneath her CRACKED and shattered. Her entire body shot out like a streak of crimson light!
Woman and spear seemed to have merged into one. Though she was still several zhang away from Sword Traceless, her “Reversed Scale” had already thrust straight forward!
“ROAR—!”
The tip of the spear trembled violently, and the phantom of a Black Dragon—clearer and more ferocious than before—roared into existence. With scarlet eyes and bared fangs and claws, it hurtled toward Sword Traceless’s back, carrying a Sky Splitting shriek and a pressure as heavy as a mountain!
Wherever it passed, even the dense Spiritual Mechanism that filled the air was brutally pushed aside and torn to shreds!
‘This madwoman… does she really think I’m afraid of her!’
A flicker of anger at being pestered finally crossed Sword Traceless’s eyes.
His rapidly retreating figure came to an abrupt halt. Pivoting on his left foot, he executed a fluid and sharp turn in an instant.
Facing the devouring Black Dragon, Sword Traceless simply swung his longsword in a single, straightforward downward slash!
