[Overturning the Foundations of the Grand Edifice of Physics].

Upon hearing these words from Xu Yun.

Old Fa was initially taken aback.

Soon after, he seemed to realize something, quickly glancing at the bustling crowd around.

He then pulled Xu Yun aside and whispered to him:

"Student Luo Feng, your words about 'overturning the foundations of the grand edifice of physics'—is it just an exaggerated rhetorical device, or...?"

"Will it completely overthrow our existing physical system...?"

After finishing his sentence.

He stared intently at Xu Yun, awaiting the young man's response.

If, half a day... no, if two hours ago, someone had spoken such words to Old Fa, he absolutely wouldn't have believed even a single punctuation mark.

Are you joking?

Modern physics has been gradually built up since the 15th century, spanning over 400 years till now.

With the efforts of pioneers like Kepler, Little Niu, Franklin, and Ampere, today's physics is considered a very mature discipline.

Recently, leading physicists like Faraday are planning to petition the Royal Society to separate physics from being subordinate to chemistry and establish it as an independent discipline.

In this context.

For someone to audaciously claim they could overturn the grand edifice of physics, anyone would find it absurd and laughable.

But now...

Whether it is the speed of light result from the first experiment or the yet bubbling photovoltaic phenomenon, both point out one thing:

What Xu Yun said might be true.

After all, he has Fat Fish backing him.

Therefore, as a leading figure currently in the physics community, Old Fa must consider certain extreme situations:

If, by any chance, Xu Yun has indeed uncovered an enormous, super huge piece of news, utterly negating the existing physics system...

Then what to do?

Without a doubt.

If Xu Yun's words are authentic, then this information must not spread!

Which means the experiment should continue, but it must not proceed in the current environment where those who love to exaggerate are gathered.

Otherwise, if spread by those who don't understand but love to exaggerate, tomorrow might see it turned into the end of the world.

In the worst-case scenario, it should be announced at a physics conference.

Looking at the vigilant Old Fa, Xu Yun could largely understand his feelings.

After all, in the past life, he was similarly gossiped about as the fishing girl, spending nights typing and being talked about as having a rich nightlife, yet in the end, those group members pretended nothing happened...

Thinking of this.

Xu Yun pondered for a moment, organized his thoughts, and said:

"Rest assured, Mr. Faraday, the main purpose of this experiment is still to support the gradually declining particle theory."

"Although it might have a bit of impact on the classical physics system, it won't cause the entire system to collapse, nor will it render the efforts of the sages futile."

Although Xu Yun paused, he decided to disclose a bit more:

"In his will, Fat Fish Ancestor referred to the world visible to the human eye as the macroscopic world."

"The concepts we draw from the macroscopic world only need to remain unquestioned within the macro domain."

"Don't you agree, Mr. Faraday?"

Old Fa nodded in vague understanding.

Although he could not find flaws in Xu Yun's words, he still somehow felt something might not be right?

Perhaps he was overthinking it....

Subsequently, Xu Yun led Old Fa and others forward a bit and came to the equipment tinkered by Old Tang.

This set of equipment covers an area approximately as large as a piano, divided into two parts, much more sophisticated than the previous two experiments.

The first part is an electric spark generator.

The generator has two large copper spheres as capacitors, connected via copper rods to two closely spaced small copper spheres.

Wires extend from the two small spheres, coiled at the ends of a large induction coil.

They are then connected to a Meidinger Battery, integrating the setup into a whole. (I'll see if I can include a diagram in this chapter)

The second part is a receiver, not far from the generator.

It consists of two open rectangular copper rings, with a small copper sphere embedded at each junction of the ring interface.

Between the generator and the receiver, a metal plate is placed.

The generator, receiver, and metal plate form a triangle, with the line connecting the generator and receiver being the base of the triangle.

Old Fa calmly walked to the equipment, his gaze quickly locking onto the part with the coiled induction coil:

This induction coil has a large number of turns, roughly as thick as an ear's base, occupying a significant area.

According to Old Fa's years of dealing with electromagnetism.

If the wire specs are standard, this induction coil should be capable of emitting over ten thousand volts of voltage.

Ten thousand volts, that's not a small number.

What is this for, then?

Surely it's not for a demonstration of electric play, right?

While Old Fa pondered.

William Whewell also approached, as he currently felt no pressure and developed a strong interest in Xu Yun's experiment.

He first circled around the receiver, then lightly exclaimed:

"Oh? Mr. Faraday, did we forget to connect the wire on the right side of this setup?"

Old Fa thought for a moment, then gently shook his head:

"Probably not that it was forgotten, but that it inherently does not require wires."

William Whewell was taken aback upon hearing this, blinking, and asked:

"Why, have you figured out the principle of this setup?"
