I Can Level Up Infinitely
Chapter 284: Planetary Spectral Breathing Technique
Just as Logan was falling asleep...
Knock! Knock! Knock!
Logan tilted his head toward the door. "Don’t tell me it’s Lamia this time."
Logan stood up unwillingly, walked to the door, and pushed it open. "Lamia, don’t think you can also try something funny like..." Logan paused. He found no one standing at the door. "What are they up to now?" He whispered. He was about to close the door again when...
"Uncle, can I come in?"
Hearing the voice, Logan looked down, only to find Spade standing there.
"Spade? Sure. Come in." He welcomed Spade into the room with an enthusiastic smile.
Spade walked inside with his short legs, and then Logan helped him sit on the bed.
"Uncle? Can I ask you something?"
"Anything," Logan replied with a warm smile. Talking to Spade felt like the best thing he had done in years. Whether it was just because Logan liked kids or something else, was unknown.
"How did you become so strong?"
"Me? I train hard every day. That’s the only way to become strong. There are no shortcuts to gaining strength."
"Do you think if I train daily, I can become strong like you?"
"Of course. But why do you want to become strong?"
"I want to help my Papa. He is always so happy, but sometimes he is not. He clutches my mama’s picture to his chest and cries. And I want to bring back my mama as well."
"Where did your mother go?"
"She went to the sky."
"To the sky?" Logan was taken aback.
"Yes. To the sky. Papa said she became a star and went to the sky to live there. I wanted to go there as well, but Papa said I have to get stronger fast or else Mama won’t see me. So will you help me? Can you teach me how to get strong?"
Logan felt a lump forming in his throat as his eyes became slightly reddened. "I will definitely teach you how to get strong." Logan knew what had happened, but he didn’t break it to the kid. Spade might have shown great courage while trying to save Lilith, but that was a momentary impulse. An emotion-driven response born of necessity, not his actual mental capability.
"Really? Promise?"
"Promise."
"Then do you think Papa will let me go to Mama?" He asked with an expectant gaze.
"Of course he will," Logan said, but his voice lacked conviction. ’When he grows up, he will understand it on his own.’
"Uncle, then teach me how to train." He said while clapping his hands.
"Now?"
"Why? Now is not a good time?"
"Forget it. Let me teach you a breathing technique very suitable for people like your Papa. I will teach you some fighting techniques as well. But which weapon do you like most? I will teach you fighting techniques based on your preferred weapon."
"Ummmmmm." Spade fell into deep thought while tapping his index finger on his lips. After some time, he spoke. "I don’t like any weapons. I like magic more. Can you teach me something with magic?"
"Magic, huh! Ok. Then I have a special breathing technique to teach you. With this, you will be able to awaken multiple magical affinities."
"Really!"
"Yes," Logan said with a smile.
"Okay, Uncle, then teach me."
"The technique I am about to teach is very famous among the elf race."
"Elves? You mean those fairy-like people with pointed ears?"
"Yes."
"Wow! Very nice, uncle. Teach me, teach me."
Logan smiled affectionately before explaining.
"This particular breathing technique is called ’Planetary Spectral Breathing Technique’. Here, your body is like a universe. In your body, there are different Starry Rivers. Each Starry River has multiple Planetary Cells. Our body is a combination of cells. But among those, some are special, known as Planetary Cells. When you can control every Planetary Cell within a particular Starry River, that Starry River will be awakened. And with each Starry River, you will be able to use a particular magical affinity. For example, the Stormy Starry River has seven Planetary Cells. If you can control all of them, you will be able to use air magic."
Spade stared at him like a fool. Looking at his dumbfounded expression, Logan couldn’t help but scratch the back of his head awkwardly. ’I almost forgot he is only ten or eleven at best. That’s not a proper way to teach a child.’ He exhaled and started again.
"Forget about everything I just said now. Just do as I say. Okay?"
"Okay, Uncle."
"Now close your eyes."
"Why? Are we going to play hide and seek?"
"Nope. Close your eyes, and I will tell you."
"Can I keep one eye open?"
"Why?"
"I am afraid of the dark."
"Don’t worry. If you follow my instructions, even after closing your eyes, you won’t see darkness."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
Spade took a long breath and then closed his eyes.
"Good," Logan said. Now try to feel the air. Is it hot? Or cold?"
"Both."
"Both? You mean not hot but not cold either, right?"
Spade nodded his head.
"Good. Now, do you see something bright? Something that is glowing and darkening back and forth?"
"Ummmm, no."
"Try to focus. It’s surrounding you. You can’t see it until it allows you to. Try to feel the breeze. Try to feel a slow current in that breeze that is flowing slower than the breeze. It’s not hot. It’s not cold. But it’s still soothing, comforting. And continuously, it’s glowing and darkening like a firefly."
Spade tried to focus, shutting his eyes tight.
Seconds passed. Then minutes. Logan didn’t rush him. ’It will take him a few days to feel the mana.’ He sat there quietly.
Suddenly, after half an hour, Spade shouted in excitement. "Uncle, I see them."
"What?" Logan froze. "You see them?"
"Yes."
"Tell me what they look like."
"They are round with sparkling edges. And each one is different in colour."
Logan swallowed. ’He could detect mana in just half an hour? H-how?’
