Chapter 157: Neighborhood Blacksmith?

Chapter 157: Neighborhood Blacksmith?

"Yes, Master," Frenrir and Noira replied in unison. They had silently been watching everything from the Soul Sanctuary, enjoying Leon’s excitement.

"Forging is an extremely rare talent. Very few people possess it, and those who do are held in the highest regard. Weapons and artifacts crafted by skilled smiths are worth enormous sums of currency. It’s one of the best ways to earn cultivation resources." Frenrir’s voice echoed in Leon’s mind.

"Smithing is as rare as alchemy." Noira added.

The more Leon thought about it, the brighter his eyes became. He extended his palm, and an ancient runestone materialized above it.

"How do I obtain the knowledge from this?"

"Master only needs to crush the runestone," Noira answered before the system could.

Leon nodded. Without any hesitation, he tightened his grip.

Crack!

The runestone shattered effortlessly. Instead of falling to the ground, the countless fragments transformed into tiny motes of light and drifted toward Leon before disappearing into his body one after another.

As the final speck of light entered him, Leon’s mind exploded with information.

Thousands upon thousands of images, techniques, runic symbols, and forging methods flooded into his consciousness all at once.

His eyes widened. His breathing became ragged. The torrent of knowledge flashed before his eyes so quickly that he couldn’t comprehend any of it.

"Ghh..." Clutching his head with both hands, Leon collapsed to his knees.

Several minutes passed.

Gradually, the overwhelming pressure subsided.

Only then did the countless pieces of knowledge begin settling into his memory. It felt as though he had spent decades standing before a blazing forge.

How to melt metals.

How to shape them.

How to refine impurities.

How to forge weapons and artifacts.

Every technique felt instinctive, as though he had practiced it countless times before.

Even the intricate runic lines no longer seemed mysterious. They felt as familiar to him as the alphabet itself.

His fingers twitched involuntarily, itching to engrave a runic pattern onto something.

Leon slowly lifted his head.

Then...

"Muahahahahaha!" His laughter echoed across the rooftop.

Some even peeked from their balconies of higher buildings to see who was laughing like this and why.

"The best weapon shop in Delvan..." Leon spoke without being bothered by the stares. He was too excited to even notice them.

"They won’t even stand a chance against me!"

Unable to contain his anticipation, Leon rushed downstairs and barged into the house.

He immediately began searching every corner for something he could experiment on.

The commotion quickly drew Jenny out of her room.

"What the hell are you doing, Brother?"

"Just wait and watch." Leon flashed her a mysterious smile. "You’re about to witness something incredible."

After searching for nearly a minute, he finally grabbed a kitchen knife.

"This will do."

He sat cross-legged on the floor and carefully placed the knife in front of him.

"Let’s start with this."

Jenny looked bewildered. She had no idea what had gotten into her brother suddenly. She stood at the side and started to observe, her arms crossed before her chest.

Leon closed his eyes. The countless runic patterns stored within his mind surfaced one after another.

Instinctively, he placed two fingers on the kitchen knife. Qi flowed from his fingertips.

A faint silver light gathered at the tip of his index finger.

Slowly, he traced a strange symbol along the blade. Wherever his finger passed, glowing lines sank into the metal as if the steel itself had softened to receive them. The moment the final stroke was completed...

Buzz!

The entire knife trembled before the glow disappeared slowly.

Jenny had stepped closer to look at it more clearly. She had no idea what Leon was doing, but one thing was clear.

Whatever it was...

It was extraordinary.

Leon slowly opened his eyes. He carefully inspected the kitchen knife before a broad grin spread across his face. "Normal-grade runic lines..." he muttered excitedly. "I actually did it."

He turned his head toward Jenny, still wearing that shameless grin.

"Here." He held the knife out to her. "Take it."

Still completely confused, Jenny walked over and accepted the knife.

At first, nothing seemed unusual.

She looked back at Leon with a puzzled expression, unable to understand why he was so excited over an ordinary kitchen knife. The engraving process had certainly looked impressive, but...

What exactly had he done?

Then, all of a sudden...

She froze.

Something clicked.

Her grip tightened around the knife as she instinctively moved it left and right.

Her eyes widened in disbelief.

"It’s..." She stared at the blade. "It’s weightless."

Leon felt satisfied with Jenny’s reaction. That’s exactly what he had expected. Bewilderment.

"Pretty cool, right?"

Jenny nodded vigorously, her eyes never leaving the knife. She turned it over again and again, as if trying to convince herself she wasn’t imagining things.

Leon chuckled. "That’s not all." He stood up confidently, a smug grin tugging at his lips.

"I actually engraved two sets runic lines into it. It has two abilities now. Try cutting something."

Jenny hurried into the kitchen and returned moments later with a carrot.

She placed it on the chopping board before positioning the knife over it.

Out of habit, she raised her index finger, preparing to press the blade down.

But before she could apply even the slightest bit of force...

Schlk!

The blade glided through the carrot as effortlessly as if it were slicing through tofu. The carrot split neatly into two halves.

Jenny remained frozen in place. Her mouth slowly fell open as she stared at the perfectly clean cut in utter disbelief.

"H-How did you do that, Brother?" Jenny finally asked after several seconds, unable to tear her eyes away from the knife.

Leon proudly brushed the tip of his nose with his thumb.

"Well... Your brother has just become a weapon smith."

Jenny stared at him for a moment. Then, all of a sudden, an idea popped into her head.

Without saying another word, she rushed back into the kitchen. A few moments later, she returned carrying two more kitchen knives, a pressure cooker, and several other utensils.

She placed everything on the floor in front of Leon with a bright grin.

"Brother, can you make these two knives like that too?"

She pointed at the pressure cooker and the rest of the cookware. "And make these lighter while you’re at it."

Leon’s eyebrows twitched. The proud smile on his face instantly froze.

’What the hell...? Does she think I’m some cheap neighborhood blacksmith?’
