I Can Give Talents
Chapter 582 - Outsmarted
Chapter 582: Chapter 582 - Outsmarted
Hearing the order, Death Bringer immediately stopped screeching. It channeled its bloodline power once again, enduring the intense pain from its injured legs. Before everyone’s eyes, new talons slowly grew out, replacing the shattered ones.
The harpy eagle then ascended high into the sky once more.
While it was preparing its next attack, Killer God had already sprayed a massive amount of venom from its stinger, pouring it down like torrential rain into the crater.
To destroy the barrier, the venom it produced was extremely acidic and corrosive. Everywhere it landed, loud sizzling sounds echoed as the earth rapidly melted away.
The air quickly filled with poisonous mist that spread throughout the battlefield.
Dammit! It’s coming my way! These flying demonic beasts are so annoying. Leyvi complained inwardly.
He immediately swallowed the tier-4 antidote and poison-repellent pills Anda had prepared for him. At the same time, he carefully reinforced every part of his Qi shield, making sure there wasn’t the slightest gap for the venomous mist to seep through.
His body had become highly resistant to many things over the years, but poison and venom were definitely not among them.
As for Mr. Bison’s diamond barrier, it remained as sturdy as ever without showing the slightest sign of weakening. Even the highly corrosive venom failed to erode it.
"Don’t stop, Killer God! Keep pouring!" Roman shouted.
The venomous mist drifted around Roman, but it had no effect on him. Having tamed Killer God for many years, he had long developed immunity to its venom.
The giant hornet continued consuming its bloodline power, producing an endless stream of terrifying venom. Before long, the corrosive liquid began flooding the crater.
Yet the diamond barrier remained perfectly seamless. Not a single drop of venom managed to seep inside. Only the surrounding ground continued melting away under the relentless corrosion.
Snort!
"Do you really think your little tricks can do anything to me?" Mr. Bison snorted proudly. "This is the protagonist barrier, not some random weak and stupid tusk barrier."
Despite sounding full of confidence, he was actually quite nervous inside. He feared neither claws nor brute force.
But venom and poison were a different matter entirely. If even a single drop leaked into the barrier, he would be in serious trouble.
"Oi, Scarlet." Mr. Bison asked. "How long do we have to stay still down here in this pit? Can I change our position?"
There was no response.
Before he could ask again, Leyvi’s voice suddenly rang in his mind through their spiritual connection.
Mr. Bison! It’s coming again!
Mr. Bison immediately focused on reinforcing his barrier, bracing himself for another powerful impact.
BOOM!
The harpy eagle’s enormous talons slammed into the diamond barrier once more.
The barrier sank even deeper into the ground. The already deep crater collapsed further, forming another crater within it. The corrosive venom that had pooled around them was blasted away by the tremendous shockwave, scattering in every direction across the battlefield.
This time, Leyvi had already anticipated that something might be sent flying toward him. He immediately summoned his volcanic armor and retreated even farther as a precaution.
Fortunately, no giant broken talon came hurtling toward him this time.
"What? This kid is also a multi-element user!" Geezer Mallard exclaimed in surprise. "To manifest the volcanic trait, that’s three elements combined!"
Even Bardan was caught off guard.
This time, even Bardan knew nothing about this. It had not been in the information provided, because Leyvi had learned it during the Mystic Realm expedition.
"No wonder the Multi-Element Sect decided to settle in Bara City," Bardan muttered.
He didn’t want to admit it, but he was slowly beginning to acknowledge that Leyvi was an extraordinarily outstanding young man. The only thing he couldn’t accept was that his daughter would have to share him with so many women.
Once the shockwave subsided, Leyvi cautiously flew closer again.
The harpy eagle looked even worse than before.
It screeched miserably as it struggled to stay airborne. Both of its talons had shattered completely, leaving its legs mangled beyond recognition. At a glance, it was obvious they could no longer be used to attack.
"Useless! Useless! You’re supposed to be the best of the best, yet you can’t even destroy this stupid barrier!"
Roman Magister was beside himself with frustration. Seeing every attack fail only made him angrier. He had never encountered a bloodline barrier capable of withstanding Death Bringer’s Mighty Talons before. The existence of such an absurdly tough barrier was simply ridiculous.
Of course, there was no way for Roman to know that the reason Mr. Bison’s diamond barrier was unbelievably durable was that both his Heavenly Lord Diamond Body and his bloodline power were supplying it with strength simultaneously.
While Roman was throwing his angry tantrum, his entire focus fixed on the barrier, a beautiful red fox quietly emerged atop a nearby broken cliff behind them, looking down at the battlefield.
Leyvi immediately noticed her through his mental connection with Scarlet.
Eh? Scarlet is already over there? Then who is the red fox sitting on Mr. Bison’s back?
Come to think of it, he had never actually asked Scarlet about her bloodline power.
Can she create a clone like Layla? Is that her bloodline ability?
Scarlet had always been so much less troublesome than Mr. Bison that Leyvi naturally paid less attention to her. Because of that, he had completely forgotten to ask about her bloodline power.
"Killer God! Death Bringer! Use Deadly Tempest together!"
Roman ordered his spirit beasts to attack once more, completely ignoring the injuries his demonic harpy eagle had already suffered.
Despite their condition, both demonic beasts obeyed without hesitation. Their bloodline powers surged through their bodies as immense energy gathered around their wings, preparing to unleash a devastating storm attack together.
However, at this exact moment, Scarlet struck.
She moved like a crimson blur, her three tails trailing behind her like flowing ribbons. Before Roman’s spirit beasts could even register her presence, she was already upon them.
Her razor-sharp claws sliced through the air in one fluid motion.
Slash!
Killer God’s wings were severed instantly. Its loud buzzing came to an abrupt stop as the giant hornet spiraled helplessly toward the ground.
Death Bringer, already heavily injured, instinctively tried to gain altitude.
But Scarlet was even faster.
She leaped into the air, twisted gracefully, and slashed across both of its wings. The sound of tearing flesh and feathers echoed across the battlefield.
The giant harpy eagle let out a miserable screech before crashing to the ground together with the hornet.
Boom! Boom!
Both demonic beasts landed heavily on the battlefield, battered and broken, no longer capable of flight.
Scarlet landed gracefully between them, her three tails swaying gently behind her. She didn’t give them the slightest chance to recover.
Her eyes began glowing, turning scarlet.
A pulse of bloodline power spread from her body, washing over the two defeated demonic beasts like an invisible ripple.
Their struggling gradually weakened. Their eyelids became heavier and heavier. Within moments, Killer God and Death Bringer had both fallen into a deep sleep, their breathing slow and peaceful.
The battle was over.
"Leyvi Leyan wins the Spirit Beast duel!" Bardan announced.
Roman stood there in disbelief. Everything had happened too quickly. He had lost so suddenly that his mind couldn’t even process what had happened.
Where did that fox come from? Wasn’t she inside the barrier? What just happened?
He hurriedly looked toward the crater. The red fox standing on Mr. Bison’s back was slowly fading away, turning into mist before disappearing completely.
A fake? How is that possible? Was I being played from the very beginning?
Because both the bison and the fox had appeared to remain inside the barrier the entire time, Roman never once bothered paying attention to the surroundings. Every bit of his focus had been devoted to breaking that hateful barrier.
Amid all the chaos, the real Scarlet had quietly slipped away, leaving behind a fake before patiently waiting for the perfect opportunity to ambush his spirit beasts. He had been completely outsmarted.
Roman slowly turned to look at Leyvi in the distance.
Dammit! Dammit! I actually lost to that country bumpkin! I can’t accept this humiliation!
Then he noticed Leyvi’s current appearance.
...And why are you half naked? Are you celebrating or something?
He gritted his teeth even harder.
"Roman Magister, take these elixirs and tend to your injured spirit beasts." Bardan arrived beside Roman and handed him two specialized healing elixirs for demonic beasts. The broadcasting device continued floating quietly beside him.
Roman wanted to lash out and curse at his spirit beasts for being useless, but he forced himself to hold it back.
He couldn’t embarrass himself even further by showing a cruel attitude toward his own spirit beasts. Not only had the fight been broadcast to all the wedding guests, but his grandfather had also witnessed his miserable performance.
Suppressing his frustration, Roman hurried over to tend to his spirit beasts’ injuries.
Meanwhile, Geezer Mallard was already chatting with Leyvi.
"How about I introduce you to my granddaughter instead? She’s not as smart as Barbara, but she’s far more beautiful. That stubborn Bardan doesn’t like you anyway. Why waste your time trying to earn his approval? That guy has always been terrible at judging people."
Just then, Bardan arrived and happened to hear the geezer trying to match Leyvi with his granddaughter while talking bad about him.
"What a shameless geezer," Bardan snorted.
"Hue hue hue. What shameless? I’m just telling him the truth." Geezer Mallard laughed.
"What’s the next challenge, Patriarch Bardan?" Leyvi asked.
"You don’t want to rest first? What about your injuries?" Bardan asked.
"Hahaha. I’m fine. They’re only superficial injuries. I’m still full of energy. We can continue."
"Are you sure?" Bardan asked again.
Leyvi nodded without hesitation.
"Good. Then the second challenge will be a fight against a Spiritual Cultivator. I heard my daughter keeps talking about how you have the greatest talent in Spiritual Cultivation. Prove it by defeating one of the best Spiritual Cultivators trained under our continent’s project."
Bardan then turned to the old man.
"Geezer Mallard, go bring a young lady named Monica here."
"Tch. You think I’m your servant or something?"
"Hmph. You’re the one who insisted on tagging along and being a busybody in my business. Now you’re complaining?"
"Tch. Fine." Geezer Mallard snorted before flying back toward the town.
Roman, having finished tending to his spirit beasts, quietly followed behind him.
Monica? My next opponent is a woman? Leyvi wondered.
