Chapter 692 - 213: The Terrifying Might of the National Preceptor’s Golden Arrow

In a secluded forest, the moment Shen Bai finished speaking, all the present members of the Observatory drew their Weapons.

They knew everything was now in place. It was time to spring the trap.

Shen Bai didn’t linger. Once Red Makeup and Amber had merged into his body, he rode the wind and rose into the air, flying at the head of the group toward the Marquis of Ren De’s position.

Behind him were over a hundred members of the Observatory, their formation so vast it seemed to blot out the sky.

...

「In the wide clearing where the Marquis of Ren De stood.」

The oil lamp on the ground flickered with a dim, yellow light. As a gentle breeze blew past, the flame inside the lamp swayed slightly.

It was just an ordinary oil lamp. When the Marquis of Ren De tried to activate it, nothing unusual happened at all.

The Marquis of Ren De stared at the oil lamp in astonishment. Countless thoughts flashed through his mind, finally merging into one.

He knew then that he had fallen into a trap.

He didn’t know when, but someone had swapped the lamp. This was no longer the one that opened the Life and Death Road.

"Steward, who touched my lamp?" the Marquis of Ren De demanded, his face grim.

Ever since obtaining the lamp, he had kept it in a hidden corner of his study.

Few people knew of that place, and the old steward was one of them.

The old steward trembled, his gaze suddenly snapping to a trusted aide beside him. His eyes became incredibly cold.

A long time ago, this aide had offered him a great deal of silver coins and had even taken him to the brothel on multiple occasions.

Due to these entanglements of money and favors, the old steward had promoted him to an important position.

He was the one who had cleaned the study last time.

"You’re from the Observatory!"

A powerful fluctuation, that of the Void Realm Peak, emanated from the old steward.

The aide’s expression turned grave, but he remained silent, seemingly confirming the old steward’s accusation.

The work of an undercover agent was to live a life with a hidden name and buried past.

No one knew their origins, their identities, or their pasts.

Everything about them was concealed in the cracks of history.

The Observatory’s undercover agents paid an extremely heavy price, but they never once voiced a single complaint.

Now that his cover was blown, his mission was complete. His face was a mask of solemn acceptance.

To an undercover agent, death was an outcome they had long been prepared for, so he could face its arrival head-on.

Seeing the aide’s calm acceptance, killing intent began to radiate from the Marquis of Ren De.

Without hesitation, he raised his hand and thrust a palm strike toward the aide.

"I will grind your bones to dust!"

In that instant, all his plans had turned to ash. The Marquis of Ren De was overcome with rage.

He figured that in this situation, he would take down as many as he could.

After he killed this traitor, he would take his remaining generals and flee Lianyun Dao at top Speed.

The undercover agent remained perfectly calm. As he watched the Marquis of Ren De’s palm draw near, he closed his eyes.

He would die without regrets, yet a sliver of regret remained.

He regretted that he could no longer walk the path of an undercover agent.

Just then, a piercing whistle suddenly echoed.

A voice that sent shivers down the spine boomed from the sky above.

It was a loud voice, brimming with killing intent.

"An agent of the Observatory is not for you to kill as you please, Marquis of Ren De!"

A blood-red light descended from the heavens. The Sword Qi was like a blood moon, yet it carried a brilliant, righteous aura. A volley of ten thousand swords filled the sky.

The terrifying Sword Qi condensed into an immense blade that slashed horizontally toward the Marquis of Ren De.

The Marquis of Ren De’s eyes widened. He crossed his palms and let out a furious roar.

"Everyone, form the Battle Array!"

The soldiers and generals still loyal to the Marquis of Ren De immediately followed his command.

The terrifying Power of the Battle Array surged from their bodies, coalescing into a massive conduit of energy that flowed directly into the Marquis of Ren De.

His crossed palms clashed with the Sword Qi, and a tremendous roar echoed across Heaven and Earth.

The Sword Qi dissipated. The Marquis of Ren De clasped his hands behind his back and stared coldly at the sky.

Just then, the undercover agent circulated the Qi in his body, blurring into an afterimage as he shot into the air. He landed beside Shen Bai, cupped his hands in a salute, and said, "Greetings, Lord Shen. I am relieved to report that I have not failed my duty and have completed the task you assigned."

As an undercover agent, there was no need for him to state his name. Not even Shen Bai would inquire about his name or his past.

Because once this matter was settled, the agent would be dispatched to another location to carry out another mission in the shadows.

Knowing his past would be a great detriment to the agent’s future safety.

Shen Bai clapped him on the shoulder. "You have sacrificed for the Observatory, and the Observatory will not let you die on our watch. Everyone, protect him."

Ma Yuan and Wang Teng stepped forward. "As you command."

Only then did Shen Bai turn to face the Marquis of Ren De below. "Marquis," he said coolly, "your hour has come. Zhang Dao Ling has been waiting for you for a long time. It’s time for you to go and keep him company."

The Marquis of Ren De was incandescent with rage. He pointed at Shen Bai and snarled, "You beardless brat! When I was conquering the world alongside the Saint Martial Emperor, who knows what corner you were hiding in! To think I’d be brought down by the likes of you! Today, I will tear you limb from limb!"

The terrifying Power of the Battle Array enveloped the Marquis of Ren De’s entire body.

The Marquis of Ren De prepared to soar into the air and fight Shen Bai to the death.

But then he noticed that Shen Bai’s expression was unnervingly calm.

Although the Marquis of Ren De was a veteran of countless battles, he was no fool. If he were, he would never have lived to see this day.

He sensed something was amiss. The rest of his soldiers and generals were now forming their own Battle Array.

All the Power of their Battle Array was surging toward Yang Chuan.
