I Can Extract Divine Power
Chapter 647 - 204: Marquis of Ren De’s Family Banquet
The sky was a crystalline blue. A golden arrow shot through the air, accompanied by a piercing whistle.
As the terrifying whistle rang out, all the members of the Observatory’s Jia Division snapped into action.
"Intercept the arrow! Protect Lord Shen!" Ding Quan shouted, drawing his weapon.
The many Jia Division members moved at once, intending to block the arrow.
If Lord Shen came to harm under their protection, they would be completely useless.
But as the golden arrow reached Shen Bai, it suddenly exploded, catching everyone completely by surprise.
In an instant, the exploded golden arrow transformed into a cloud of mist that billowed in the sky.
The mist gradually condensed, forming the image of a young man.
The man was handsome, with a gentle and refined air about him, like a young Scholar.
But on closer inspection, one could see a hint of madness in his eyes.
Though this hint of madness was deeply Hidden, it was not difficult for Shen Bai to notice.
"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Wen Jing, a Gold Token student of Xinhua Academy."
Wen Jing’s illusion stared directly at Shen Bai, his voice devoid of emotion. "You must be Shen Bai, I presume?"
Surrounded and protected by his Jia Division members, Shen Bai replied coolly, "A coward who hides in the shadows dares speak to me? It might be a different story if you showed up in person."
Wen Jing shook his head. "Your words are sharp as a blade, but for people at our level, it takes more than a few barbs to anger me."
"Lord Shen, did you like my gift?"
"The deaths of an entire village, as spectacular as fireworks. What did you think of my welcoming banquet?"
His words were laced with a rapturous tone, as if the lives of the villagers were no more than pigs or dogs in his eyes.
Shen Bai raised an eyebrow. "And what of my gift to you?" he asked slowly. "Did you like it?"
Nearby, a gruesome pile of severed heads lay on the ground.
Seeing this, the corner of Wen Jing’s eye twitched.
This was part of his plan: sacrifice a village, then come to watch Shen Bai’s enraged and humiliated reaction.
But he had never expected to see so many heads piled on the ground.
Only when Shen Bai pointed it out did Wen Jing realize that not a single one of his attackers had survived.
"Impressive methods, Lord Shen."
Wen Jing exhaled, the madness in his eyes intensifying. "However, there will be many more gifts waiting for you, Lord Shen."
"You didn’t send this illusion all this way just to tell me that, did you?"
Shen Bai said, "If so, you’re even worse than Wang Tianxing. A complete waste of time."
"Lord Shen is comparing me to a Copper Member?"
Wen Jing shook his head. "Never mind. I came here to tell you our next move, Lord Shen."
"Everything here, this entire Lingyun Dao, will become a living hell because of you, Lord Shen."
"We have one surprise after another for you, Lord Shen. I hope you’re ready for them."
Shen Bai said nothing.
Beside him, Ding Quan leaned in closer. "We have a file on Wen Jing at the Observatory. The man has a twisted personality and is supremely confident."
"He loves to tell his enemies the plan before he enacts it, then slowly watch them sink into despair."
No one who joins Xinhua Academy is normal. They’re all lunatics.
Wen Jing was no exception.
Just as Ding Quan said, Wen Jing had appeared as an illusion this time solely to satisfy that twisted impulse of his.
Shen Bai nodded and activated his Infinite Divination Skill.
But the illusion before him was untethered, providing no clues for him to follow.
This meant either he didn’t have enough clues, or Wen Jing had concealed or erased any key traces, preventing the Infinite Divination Skill from making a Calculation.
But it wasn’t a major problem.
’As long as they keep making moves, they’ll eventually slip up,’ Shen Bai thought. ’And when they do, a storm of retribution will be waiting for them.’
Seeing that Shen Bai remained silent, Wen Jing taunted, "What’s wrong? Are you regretting that you crossed Xinhua Academy?"
Shen Bai said coolly, "I’m just thinking about exactly how I’m going to end your life when I finally catch you."
Wen Jing sneered. "Is that so? Then let’s wait and see."
With that, Wen Jing’s figure gradually faded away.
Ding Quan turned back, looking as if he wanted to speak but held his tongue.
Shen Bai waved a hand dismissively. "We’ll talk when we get back. Also, what happened today in the village with Yang Jian’s betrayal—no one is to speak of it."
"Once we’re back, just make up an excuse. That’ll be enough to get by."
Although Ding Quan didn’t know Shen Bai’s reasons, he didn’t ask any questions.
"As you command."
The group wasted no more time and headed for the Observatory.
...
After leaving the village, the rest of their journey was uneventful, and Shen Bai, Ding Quan, and the others arrived at the Observatory without any further trouble.
"Ding Quan, gather everyone at the Observatory, including the two Landlords of the Registration and Resource Rooms. Have them come see me," Shen Bai ordered.
A small five-story building stood not far ahead.
Most of the Observatory’s branches looked like this, so Shen Bai didn’t need to ask where his office was.
"Yes, sir," Ding Quan replied quickly.
Without wasting a moment, he immediately took his men to search for the other Observatory members on site.
Meanwhile, Shen Bai climbed the stairs of the five-story building all the way to the top floor.
There were quite a few Observatory members inside the building. When they saw Shen Bai, they all froze like statues, completely Immovable.
