I Can Evolve Spirit Elementals
Chapter 165: The Battle Continues II
Chapter 165: Chapter 165: The Battle Continues II
Damon raised his hand again.
More ice spears formed around him, but this time, he didn’t immediately launch them.
Instead, he spread his fingers, and the spears separated into several formations. Some hovered above him, while others moved to his sides, waiting for his command.
A pack of Thunderfang Wolves released a coordinated lightning attack.
Damon’s eyes narrowed.
The spears shot forward in a wide arc, meeting the incoming lightning head-on. The collision produced a series of sharp explosions, but the spears continued through the energy, piercing the wolves before they could launch another attack.
At the same time, a large Wind Elemental beast broke through the swarm and charged directly toward him.
Its body resembled a massive wolf, but thick plates covered its shoulders, and two curved horns extended from its head. Wind gathered around its claws as it accelerated, tearing through the ground beneath its feet.
An A-rank beast.
Damon glanced at it.
Before the beast could reach him, he formed a thick ice barrier in its path. The creature struck it with tremendous force, shattering the barrier and sending fragments flying.
But Damon had expected that.
He had already moved to the side, and a spear formed in his hand.
Lightning surged along its tip as he infused it with Wind Elemental Aether. He threw it forward, and the weapon crossed the distance almost instantly.
The beast attempted to twist away, but the spear struck its shoulder and released a violent burst of lightning.
Its body convulsed as the energy spread through it.
Damon followed up with another spear, piercing its chest and bringing it down.
He didn’t even pause to admire the result.
More beasts were approaching, and he was already preparing his next attack.
Caelia watched him for another moment before realizing she had been standing still.
She wasn’t the only one.
Even the spirits had been momentarily drawn to their master’s display. Freya’s tails flickered with excitement, while Sylphie gave a sharp cry and flew higher into the air.
Damon glanced back at them.
"Are you planning to watch the entire battle?"
His lighthearted remark broke the brief silence.
Caelia immediately snapped out of her thoughts.
"Of course not!"
"Good. Then get moving. We have plenty of beasts to deal with."
He turned back toward the swarm, a faint smile on his face.
"Don’t let me take all the fun."
Caelia shook her head, but a smile soon appeared on her lips.
"You’re really something else."
She raised both hands, and a surge of Ice Elemental Aether spread across the battlefield.
"Shiro, Snow! Let’s go!"
Shiro responded immediately.
"Frostbound Sanctuary!"
A wide field of ice erupted beneath the incoming beasts. Frozen pillars rose from the ground, disrupting their advance and forcing the front ranks to change direction.
Snow dashed forward, her body moving between the formations as she targeted the beasts that had been slowed by Shiro’s Art.
She was much more accustomed to fighting Wind and Lightning Elemental beasts now. Rather than trying to match their speed directly, she used the terrain and Shiro’s support to create openings.
A Gale Shadow Panther lunged toward her, its claws coated in compressed wind.
Snow shifted to the side, allowing the attack to pass before striking its exposed flank. Her claws tore through its hide, and a burst of Ice Elemental Aether spread through the wound.
The panther tried to retreat, but Shiro’s Frost Chains caught its legs and pulled it down.
Caelia followed with a sharp ice spear, ending the beast’s struggle.
The group moved together, their coordination much better than it had been earlier.
Shiro restricted the beasts’ movements, Snow attacked from the openings he created, and Caelia controlled the wider battlefield. Whenever a stronger beast threatened to break through, she redirected her Arts to support the others.
However, the swarm was far too large for them to handle with ordinary attacks.
Several A-rank beasts pushed through the frozen formations, unleashing powerful Wind and Lightning Arts. The impact shattered parts of Shiro’s Sanctuary, and a violent current swept toward Snow.
"Snow, get back!" Caelia shouted.
Snow leaped away as a bolt of lightning struck the ground where she had been standing.
Shiro immediately raised an ice wall to block the next attack, but the force behind it was enough to crack the barrier.
Caelia moved closer.
"Don’t try to hold them all back at once. Focus on separating them!"
Shiro understood.
He released another wave of Frostbound Sanctuary, but instead of spreading the ice evenly, he concentrated it beneath the larger beasts. Thick ice formations rose around their legs, slowing their movements and separating them from the smaller creatures.
Snow took advantage of the opening.
She rushed between the formations, striking the exposed sides of the beasts before retreating behind the ice barriers. Her attacks weren’t always enough to bring them down, but they weakened the beasts and made it easier for Caelia to finish them.
Damon noticed their progress while continuing to deal with the beasts on his side.
"That’s better!" he called out. "Keep them separated!"
His voice carried through the battlefield, and Caelia adjusted her movements accordingly.
She began creating narrow channels of ice that guided the smaller beasts toward Shiro, where his Frost Chains could restrain them. At the same time, she used larger formations to slow the A-rank beasts, giving Snow more opportunities to attack.
The battlefield was gradually taking shape around their strategy.
But the swarm kept coming.
Freya finally joined the fight in earnest.
Silver lightning spread from her body, forming several streaks that swept through the incoming beasts. Her attacks struck with incredible force, leaving the creatures unable to withstand the energy surging through them.
A large Lightning Elemental beast attempted to confront her, releasing a powerful bolt from its horns.
Freya simply raised one of her tails.
Silver lightning surged forward and collided with the attack, overpowering it before striking the beast directly.
The creature was thrown backward, crashing into several others.
