Chapter 121: Chapter 121: A Quiet Morning

The crowd erupted again. This time Damon could only smile.

He wasn’t used to this.

Being thanked.

Being welcomed.

Being celebrated.

But he liked it.

A lot.

Eventually, they separated.

The crowd remained outside, still celebrating the victory, while the elemental users and important members of the family began returning inside.

Damon walked toward his room.

When he opened the door, he stopped again.

A bath was already prepared.

Food had been placed nearby.

Clean clothes were waiting.

Damon stared for a moment.

"They really went all out."

He smiled.

It felt good.

Really good.

There was something satisfying about being treated like someone important.

Especially when he remembered how his first day in this world had gone.

He had awakened the highest grade White Core.

Everyone had celebrated.

Then they discovered he had no normal elemental affinity.

And just like that, the attention disappeared.

He had gone from being the pride of the family to being someone they barely wanted to acknowledge.

Now he had returned from a battle where the same kind of people would have expected him to die.

And they had welcomed him like a hero.

Damon smiled to himself.

"I guess things changed."

He took off his clothes and stepped into the bath.

The warm water helped his tired body relax.

But once the battle was over and his mind became quiet, other thoughts began appearing.

Leading to his old family.

Haven’s Edge.

Tempest Hollow.

The mutation.

He had seen how dangerous the world could be.

And Haven’s Edge was stronger and more organized than the city where the Winterbourne family lived.

But that didn’t mean they were safe.

He thought about Kane too.

Had he managed to grow stronger?

Had anyone actually given him the chance?

Or had the harshness of the world swallowed him before he could reach the strength Damon had reached?

Damon leaned back.

He stared at the ceiling.

"So I still worry about them."

He laughed quietly.

"That’s annoying."

No matter how much had happened, they were still family.

At least in some way.

Damon closed his eyes.

But he soon shook his head.

There was nothing he could do about it right now.

"If we meet again, we meet."

He wasn’t going to chase them.

He wasn’t going to let the past decide what came next.

For now, he had his own life.

And he had worked hard to build it.

He had spirits that trusted him.

Strength that was still growing.

A world filled with places he hadn’t explored.

And mysteries surrounding the Distorted Zones that he was becoming more curious about every day.

Adventure.

Exploration.

Growth.

That was what he wanted.

Damon stood up.

"That’s enough thinking for today."

He finished his bath, dried himself and sat down to eat.

The food tasted even better than he expected.

He ate until he was satisfied, then finally collapsed onto the bed.

The moment his head touched the pillow, he felt his spirits through their bonds.

Freya’s affection.

Sylphie’s excitement.

Shiro’s quiet happiness.

They had been sending him their feelings while he was thinking about his family.

Damon smiled.

"I’m fine."

The three spirits responded warmly.

"I just remembered some things."

He closed his eyes.

"Don’t worry about me."

The bonds finally settled.

Damon relaxed too.

His body was exhausted. His Aether was nearly empty.

But his mind felt strangely peaceful.

He had started this life being rejected.

He had been called useless.

He had been pushed aside.

And today, the same kind of people had stood outside waiting to cheer for him.

Damon smiled faintly.

"Not bad."

His eyes closed.

A few moments later, he was asleep.

****

Damon woke up feeling completely refreshed.

He had slept for a long time, and for once, there was nothing urgent waiting for him the moment he opened his eyes.

Freya, Sylphie, and Shiro were still resting in his second core, recovering from the battle.

Damon sat up and stretched before getting out of bed.

The room was quiet.

After washing up, he sat down and began cultivating.

He placed several Aether crystals beside him and slowly absorbed the energy within them, guiding it through his Aether Veins.

The process was calm and familiar.

As his cultivation continued, Damon could feel the three spirits recovering through their connection.

His thoughts naturally returned to the battle.

The Distorted Zones were becoming stranger.

Different zones were beginning to show signs of instability, and the elemental essence within them was becoming more chaotic.

The Frostveil Expanse was only one example.

Beasts were mutating.

Distorted Zones were expanding.

Some of them were even beginning to show strange connections with one another.

And nobody knew why.

Damon opened his eyes.

There was still too little information.

Even the resonance formations used by the enemy only explained part of what had happened.

They had been able to influence the beasts and worsen the instability, but where had the instability come from in the first place?

Why were the Distorted Zones becoming more dangerous?

And what was happening deep within them?

Damon leaned back slightly.

His thoughts eventually returned to his second core.

The Spirit Origin.

He still didn’t understand why he had it.

It had allowed him to nurture Core Spirits that should have been impossible to obtain through ordinary means.

It had already changed his path completely.

But why him?

Where had it come from?

Damon thought about it for a while before shaking his head.

There was no point trying to force an answer without enough information.

If he wanted answers, he would have to explore.

That was where things became interesting anyway.

There were still countless places in this world that he had never seen.

Distorted Zones.

Ancient ruins.

Passages.

Strongholds.

And whatever was hiding beyond them.

The thought alone made Damon feel a little excited.

His old gamer instincts were already telling him that there had to be something hidden behind all of this.

A mystery.

A secret.

Something worth uncovering.

But before he could think any further, the Aether around him suddenly began to change.

Damon’s expression shifted.
