Chapter 96: Chapter 92: Someone Soars Into the Sky...

Su Tan was already inside the Void God Realm.

Obtaining Cultivation Techniques was simple. All he had to do was stroll through the second floor—the repository for Cultivation Techniques—and throw a few punches to make them drop as loot. It was straightforward and crude, yet highly efficient.

"Cultivation Technique x1... Cultivation Technique x1..."

For his Qi Condensation realm, Su Tan was aiming for infinity. He reasoned, "If the Body Refinement realm can be infinite, there’s no reason the Qi Condensation realm can’t be."

"Ding! Equipped Qi Condensation Cultivation Technique: Celestial Fire Technique +1..."

"Ding! Equipped Qi Condensation Cultivation Technique: Water and Wood Technique +1..."

"Ding! Quality of the Ten Thousand Dao Furnace’s Qi Condensation Chapter +1..."

Now that he wasn’t lacking Cultivation Techniques, Su Tan’s only headache was his lack of energy. But he wasn’t in a rush; he would take it one step at a time. With his current cultivation base, the quality of the Ten Thousand Dao Furnace’s Qi Condensation Chapter was more than enough.

Having settled the matter of Cultivation Techniques, Su Tan turned his attention back to the Marching Battlefield and the Divine War Game. He needed to keep a constant eye on the players’ experience. If there were any shortcomings, he could update and patch them on the fly to improve the gameplay. The success of this game was of vital importance to him, so he took it very seriously.

Following Fu Jian, who became the first player, a second and third soon logged in. These players were none other than Fu Jian’s close friends and family members.

Families in this world were nothing like the ones in the novels Su Tan had read in his past life. Here, clans were incredibly united. Any benefits were kept strictly within the family, and internal strife was practically nonexistent. The reason was simple: clans plagued by infighting rarely survived long. And families that had already been wiped out obviously couldn’t give their enemies an opening.

"I’m telling you guys, the Divine War Game is insanely fun, and it really does increase your cultivation!" Fu Jian said to the group around him, all of whom were friends who shared a life-and-death bond.

In the real world, they always teamed up whenever they ventured into the Primitive Forest for training. They possessed phenomenal teamwork and mutual understanding. Initially, these friends thought the claims of a game boosting cultivation were total nonsense and refused to come, but they had eventually caved to Fu Jian’s relentless dragging and pleading.

"What could possibly be here... Fu Jian, I’m only doing this to give you face. Otherwise, who would want to come to a place like this?" a young man muttered reluctantly.

"I promise you won’t regret it!" Fu Jian declared.

"It doesn’t matter if we regret it or not. We’ll just humor you for a bit and then log out, just to get you off our backs," said Fu Ling’Er, Fu Jian’s cousin. "You know I have a date over at Dongling Academy. If you ruin this for me, I’ll wring your neck."

She was decently attractive and possessed a sharp mind. Her only flaw was that she could be incredibly boy-crazy at times. She looked around sixteen and wore her hair in twin tails, though her figure—particularly in certain areas—defied all logic for her age.

"How is romance more fun than cultivation? I guarantee that once you play this game, you’ll forget all about men!" Fu Jian said.

"Tch. In my eyes, men—especially handsome men—are way more interesting than some game or cultivation," Fu Ling’Er retorted, rolling her eyes at him.

Just then, their login was successful!

RUMBLE!

The deafening sound of a thunderbolt crashed down from the dark clouds above.

"Ding! Welcome to the Marching Battlefield!" an ancient voice echoed.

The sudden announcement made everyone’s heart skip a beat—except for Fu Jian’s. Dense raindrops began to pour from the dark, rolling clouds overhead. Just like during Fu Jian’s first login, the surrounding environment was incredibly dim and gloomy. Beneath their feet lay an endless sea of skeletons.

Seeing this scene, the group froze in shock.

"T-this..." Fu Ling’Er stammered, her face turning pale as she stared in horror.

"What a realistic game world!"

"What a terrifying setting..."

It wasn’t just Fu Ling’Er; the rest of the group also wore expressions of sheer astonishment. They couldn’t believe such a place existed. The bone-chilling, ghostly aura made them shiver uncontrollably.

Seeing his friends’ reactions, Fu Jian beamed with joy. As a veteran player, there was nothing more satisfying than watching a bunch of noobs look completely out of their depth, wide-eyed and clumsy. Especially since these people were his closest friends—he could finally show off how awesome he was.

"Heh heh... calm down, calm down. It’s completely normal. This is just the setting for the Marching Battlefield. There’s no need to panic," Fu Jian said with a smug smile. He explained it casually, brimming with confidence and looking every bit the seasoned expert guiding the masses.

"When the world first began, the Ten Thousand Races coexisted... But alas, the Yin Demon emerged... As the sole hope of the Ten Thousand Races and the only inheritor of the Celestial Emperor, you have decided to shoulder the heavy burden of saving the world... to restore peace to the Ten Thousand Races!" the system narrated.

Fu Jian was fine; he was already used to this. But the people around him were completely captivated by the lore.

He chuckled inwardly. "These noobs... making a fuss over nothing. Look at me—see how calm I am? This is the demeanor of a true master! You guys are too green..."

His sense of superiority skyrocketed. Little did he realize, he had made the exact same faces during his first login. But that didn’t stop him from acting tough now.

The ancient voice continued, "One-in-a-million inheritor, please uphold the will of the Celestial Emperor... The world needs you! Next, the Assistant Elf will guide you along your journey and teach you how to survive in this cruel world. Go forth, young ones! I believe in you!"

"Assistant Elf?"

"What’s that?" his friends muttered to themselves, completely at a loss.

"Heh heh... You guys have no clue, right? Let me enlighten you noobs," Fu Jian said, instantly transforming into a know-it-all. "The Assistant Elf is an entity that guides you and teaches you how to play the game. By following her in the early stages, you can quickly adapt to the Marching Battlefield. Let me let you in on a little secret, too—she’s a very pretty little loli. Oh, right... her name is Qing!"
