Chapter 67: Chapter 67: Shen Yun on the Road

"Just wait patiently, Annie. I will let you experience true joy."

After Ludwig said this, his black mist-like figure dissipated into the wind.

This world was simply wonderful to him. Though it lacked powerful materials, the knowledge and equipment here had opened the doors to a New World. It fascinated him deeply, providing an endless stream of creative inspiration.

Annie lay on the ground completely motionless, as if he were dead. But three hours later, he suddenly sat up.

Annie was an expert at grasping patterns. This was the secret to his repeated escapes from the hospital. No matter what kind of pattern it was, he would memorize it deeply. Similarly, he had an obsessive dedication to these patterns. If it was agreed that he would attack once every four hours, then it would be exactly once every four hours!

Annie carefully pulled a fist-sized crystal from his pocket. Holding it up to the light, a wriggling mass of flesh inside was distinctly visible. He knew that once his teacher immersed himself in research for more than two hours, it meant he wouldn’t appear again for at least ten.

Annie’s eyes gleamed with excitement and smugness. He slipped silently out of the house, sinking into the ground as if dissolving into water, and darted toward the nearby city.

One hour later.

The colossal monster once again appeared in the late-night city. The bright, pale moonlight spilled across the earth. It should have been a beautiful night, but now, it was filled with the terrified screams of the people.

Meanwhile, Shen Yun was still on his way.

"Hahaha!" The teenage boy laughed lightly and joyfully, resting his cheeks in his hands as if watching a funny cartoon, while half of his body was embedded in the monster’s shoulder.

The fear of others brought him unprecedented pleasure. However, feeling the exact same pleasure for too long left him a bit disappointed, so he continuously scanned the fleeing crowds below, trying to add a little more fun.

Suddenly, he spotted a girl. She was a very, very pretty girl—just like the girl of his dreams.

"Become my partner! Just like the Doctor!" An intoxicated, shy blush spread across Annie’s face. He controlled the giant monster, extending a massive hand to grab the fleeing girl below.

The girl’s face was already deathly pale, and her legs were trembling.

"That’s enough!"

An empty car suddenly flew over from a distance, smashing heavily into the monster’s arm. The voice belonged to a man clad head-to-toe in a green bodysuit, which completely covered his face. In his hand, he wielded a bronze sword blazing with flames. He dashed forward, planting himself firmly in front of the girl.

"It’s the Fire Sword Hero!" Excited shouts erupted from the bystanders.

"Go, Fire Sword Hero!"

"Take him down!"

"The Fire Sword Hero is a great expert who has already cultivated Divine Thought!"

Even in the West, where Cultivators in the Divine Thought Stage were extremely rare, there were always one or two lucky geniuses. The man standing before them was one such genius. He was of mixed Eastern and Western descent. Relying on an ancestral sword, he had awakened as a Cultivator and advanced step by step to the Divine Thought Stage. Using the moniker "Fire Sword Hero," he had built quite a reputation for himself in this area. And today, he had followed his crush all the way here just to protect her.

"Are you alright?" the Fire Sword Hero asked softly, turning his head to look at the girl behind him.

"I-I’m fine," the girl replied, struggling to stand, though her legs were still shaking uncontrollably.

"Don’t worry, I will protect you," the Fire Sword Hero said, suppressing his internal excitement. There was nothing more thrilling than showing off in front of the girl he liked.

"Watch out!" the girl suddenly shrieked.

A powerful gust of wind pressure hit them from the front. A massive palm, larger than a car and reeking of rot, came crashing down with a whistling sound. The Fire Sword Hero reacted instantly. He spun around and slashed fiercely with his sword, the flames forming a giant, fiery blade.

SIZZLE!

The pungent smell of burning flesh instantly permeated the air.

"Watch me cut you down!" the Fire Sword Hero roared, pouring all his energy into the attack. With a continuous battle cry, his sword finally sliced through.

The massive hand was severed and hit the ground. The Fire Sword Hero was thrilled, confident that he could win!

BAM!

He was swatted away by another hand that had just reached him.

"Hahaha!" Annie’s manic laughter echoed from a distance. "I thought you were actually tough! But you’re just like an annoying mosquito—swatted away with a single slap."

"It’s not over yet!" Scorching flames erupted with a roar as the Fire Sword Hero charged out of the collapsed rubble. He placed himself in front of the girl once more, then leaped high into the air, launching an imposing assault toward Annie on the monster’s shoulder. "Let me tell you! The Demon King’s fate is to be defeated by the hero!"

CRACK!

A sudden whip struck the Fire Sword Hero dead center, sending him flying in an instant.

"What did you just say? I couldn’t hear you." Annie cupped a hand around his ear, then shook his head and sighed. "Teacher was absolutely right. The suffering of others truly is a tremendous joy. Come on, use all your strength and continue to entertain me!"

From the severed stump of the monster’s hand, a long black whip had grown at some point. It was thrashing wildly through the air, generating whistling wind pressure. A few bold reporters were already live-streaming the event from nearby. Across the globe, an increasing number of people were tuning in to watch this real-life hero battle.

"It’s not over..." Blood trickled from the corner of the Fire Sword Hero’s mouth, but it was quickly evaporated by the flames. "The hero always wins!" he shouted, cheering himself on. He charged forward again, his entire body transformed into a human torch.

He dodged, repositioned, and advanced!

It had to be said that this Western Cultivator had clearly undergone extensive combat training. His evasive instincts were exceptional. He successfully dodged the lash of the whip, closing the gap until he was only a few meters away from Annie.

"Come on! Take him down!" the girl cheered from below.

Boundless courage surged in the Fire Sword Hero’s heart. He firmly believed that victory would be his!

CRACK!

The same scene played out again as the Fire Sword Hero was swatted away once more. Everyone saw that right next to Annie on the monster’s shoulder, another long black whip had surprisingly sprouted.

"Hey... have any of you ever experienced true despair?" Annie’s lazy voice echoed out, before instantly turning into a ferocious scream. He threw his arms wide open, his twisted face brimming with sheer ecstasy. "Let me show you the real Doctor! My favorite Doctor!"

The moment his voice fell, a continuous series of sickening squelches rang out—like the sound of bubbles being punctured.

From the giant monster’s hands, feet, arms, shoulders, and even its head, nearly hundred-meter-long black whips sprouted everywhere. They flailed around at blinding speeds, whipping up a violent whirlwind. The beast had morphed into a complete tentacle monster!

Everyone abruptly fell silent.

The only sounds left at the scene were Annie’s arrogant laughter and the whistling wind pressure. He was simply far too delighted. Out of all his previous destructive attacks, this one brought him the most pleasure.

"...You should run away," the Fire Sword Hero said, using his sword to prop up his body as he struggled to stand. Suddenly, he yanked off his hood, revealing a plain but young face. He turned his head and smiled at the girl. "Although I really wanted to fight anonymously like the heroes in the movies, I guess... I still want you to know who saved you."

"Sob..." The girl’s tears flowed uncontrollably.

The television cameras perfectly captured this poignant moment.

And at this very moment, Shen Yun was still on his way.
