I Can Devour Spirits
Chapter 700: Red Fire Elephant
Chapter 700: Chapter 431: Red Fire Elephant
When Duan Rong followed Fan Hongjiao into the council hall, Wu Shidao, Lu Geng, and Wang Yue were already gathered around a table.
On the table, Wu Shidao’s wax-yellow beast-hide Geomancy Map was spread out.
As soon as Fan Hongjiao entered, Wu Shidao looked up at her.
She saw the look in Wu Shidao’s eyes and immediately understood his meaning, so she asked, “Do we have a plan now?”
Wu Shidao nodded and said, “I’ve just looked at a few locations, and there’s one ready-made spot for capture, it’s one we’ve surveyed before.”
“Surveyed before?” Fan Hongjiao’s eyes lit up.
“Yes.” Wu Shidao pointed to a spot on the map and looked at Fan Hongjiao as he spoke, “Senior Sister, do you remember this place?”
Fan Hongjiao lowered her head to look at the spot Wu Shidao was pointing to on the map.
Wu Shidao said, “There are two adult Red Fire Elephants in that stone cave. Red Fire Elephants can be tricky, and at the time, I proposed that it wasn’t worth capturing them then. We should wait for them to have calves and then capture them all at once. Two adult Red Fire Elephants can give birth to four or five calves. Now, over a year has passed, the timing is just right. Those calves still wouldn’t have the power to kill, but they’re probably not small in size by now.”
“Two adult Red Fire Elephants, plus four or five calves, will be enough for one go.”
Fan Hongjiao glanced at Wu Shidao and said, “Isn’t the distance a bit too far?”
“It is indeed a bit far,” Wu Shidao said with a touch of excitement, “but the location of the stone cave is still on the outer edges. We can go around instead of taking a direct route through the heartland. Moreover, our junior brother has now reached the Third Level of the Primordial Qi Realm and has some self-defense ability. Considering the distance and being on the outer edges, it shouldn’t be a problem for us to go together.”
Fan Hongjiao pondered briefly and said, “Alright then, let’s go with this plan.”
Having chosen the location, they prepared to set off. Everyone had their gear ready. Wu Shidao packed up the Geomancy Map from the table, and under Fan Hongjiao’s leadership, they left the council hall, heading towards the Dark Forest.
Several hours later, the group was hiding in a thicket within the Dark Forest.
Duan Rong was nestled between Wu Shidao and Fan Hongjiao, and by now, they had been staking out for two or three hours.
Not far from the thicket was a cliff.
The cliff was quite peculiar, dark and not easily noticeable. If the daylight were bright, one would see the cliff was entirely crimson.
On the exposed crimson cliff, there grew sparse, low shrubs scattered across.
These shrubs were only about knee-high, but each bore one or two fiery red berries the size of an infant’s fist, called Fire Infant Fruits.
Due to the unique composition of the cliff, ordinary vegetation struggled to grow, only the Fire Infant Fruit could adapt to such fire-attributed terrain.
For the Red Fire Elephants, these Fire Infant Fruits were extremely beneficial. Particularly for the growing calves, they were both a delicious delicacy and a source of fire-attribute nourishment.
The two adult Red Fire Elephants had chosen a cave not far from the cliff precisely for the Fire Infant Fruit on it.
Moreover, no other Primordial Beasts fought over these fruits with them, as other Primordial Beasts, upon consuming the fruits, felt as if their internal organs were burning. Only the Red Fire Elephants found them enjoyable.
The group waited in the dim forest, and as Duan Rong squatted until his legs were stiff, Fan Hongjiao whispered from beside him, “They’re here!”
Soon after, the leaves in the nearby dense woods rustled, and then several shadows emerged from the woods.
Two large dark shadows followed by five smaller ones.
The two large shadows were like small mountains, causing Duan Rong to catch his breath slightly.
Even in the darkness, it was apparent that these shadows moved slowly. As they passed through the thicket, Duan Rong saw an adult Red Fire Elephant seemingly using its trunk to stroke the back of a calf.
Before long, the two adult Red Fire Elephants had brought the five calves to the cliff.
The adult Red Fire Elephants, already towering in stature, rested their sturdy front legs against the cliff, stretching out their trunks to pluck berries and present them to the calves.
The five calves eagerly surrounded the two adult Red Fire Elephants, impatient to eat the berries…
At that moment, two shadows suddenly leaped from a patch of shrubbery at the edge of the nearby woods.
The ones who jumped out of the thicket were Fan Hongjiao and Wu Shidao. The two moved as swiftly as phantoms in the night.
As an adult Red Fire Elephant extended its trunk towards the berries on the cliff, Fan Hongjiao’s Python Whip hit like an apparition.
The whip coiled around the trunk of the adult Red Fire Elephant as it approached.
With a strong yank, Fan Hongjiao pulled the adult Red Fire Elephant off the cliff, tightening the Python Whip in her hand.
Meanwhile, Wu Shidao was already wielding an Iron Ruler, his figure moving like a thundering bolt toward the head of the Red Fire Elephant that Fan Hongjiao had tugged down.
This strike, Wu Shidao put all his strength into. If he hit, he’d critically injure a Red Fire Elephant, ensuring they held the absolute advantage in the ensuing struggle, making things much easier.
This was the sudden coordinated attack and a crucial killing move between the two.
But as Wu Shidao was still in mid-air, the two Red Fire Elephants had already noticed him.
