I Can Devour Spirits

Chapter 686 - 423: Cultivation Chamber (Part 2)

This is something that both Fan Hongjiao and Wu Shidao agree on; Wang Yue’s cultivation speed is indeed a bit slow. If this kid can’t break through to the Third Level this year, Master won’t blame Wang Yue, but will blame the two of us.

We need to give this kid some stimulus!

After Fan Hongjiao finished speaking, they heard a sound like bellows coming faintly from the crevice. About the time it takes to burn an incense stick later, a shadow finally climbed up with difficulty. Wang Yue’s lips were cracked, his whole body was drenched in sweat, and there was a strange whistling sound, as if a whistle had been stuffed into his throat from time to time.

Once Wang Yue climbed up, he immediately grabbed Fan Hongjiao’s foot nearby. Looking at Wang Yue’s half-dead state, Fan Hongjiao stretched out and pulled up the corpse of the Two-legged Frenzied Python that was hanging behind Wang Yue.

Only then did Wang Yue lie sprawled out on the ground, his chest heaving up and down, and layers of sweat oozing out from all over his body.

Fan Hongjiao gave Wang Yue a light kick and said, "Look at you, such a useless sight. I’m telling you, Wang Yue, if you can’t break through to the Third Level this year, I’ll skin you myself."

Wang Yue, lying limp there, didn’t react at all to Fan Hongjiao’s kick.

After resting for a while, the whistling in Wang Yue’s throat gradually subsided. He panted for a bit, swallowed, and then said while lying there, "Dragging this thing up almost killed me. Halfway through, I wanted to throw that giant python’s corpse down and climb up myself instead."

Fan Hongjiao glared at him and said, "You’re such a wuss! If you dare to throw the python’s corpse down, I’ll throw you down too!"

Wang Yue pulled a face and said, "Senior Sister, do you have to be so harsh? I almost died of exhaustion!"

Fan Hongjiao replied, "Exhausted? Who told you your Realm is so low? You’ve been stuck at the Third Level for over a year, and you still haven’t moved forward. I never see you being diligent in your cultivation. If you could break through to the Third Level, would you be tired from dragging something like this up?"

Under Fan Hongjiao’s scolding, Wang Yue had no temper at all. He had been at Yunfu Peak for four years, and the resources had always been good, but his cultivation progress was somewhat lacking. However, that was only compared to a few of them, as compared to other direct disciples from other peaks, he was not lacking at all.

"Let’s go!" Fan Hongjiao shouted and started walking out.

Seeing the senior sister lose her temper, everyone quickly followed her out, and Wang Yue also struggled to his feet from the ground, dragging the giant python’s corpse along behind.

As the group exited the corridor’s stone gate, the elderly man sitting cross-legged in the corner remained there. When he saw them coming out, he merely glanced at them coldly and continued to meditate with his eyes closed.

This elder was practicing a type of Withered Zen Skill.

As they pushed open the door on the first floor of the pavilion and walked outside, they immediately felt the sunlight glaring.

They greedily took several breaths of the fresh mountain air, and their whole bodies felt comfortable as their lungs filled.

The bright sunshine and fresh air brought a faint joy to their hearts.

Fan Hongjiao, however, continued leading them towards the hall on the first floor of the pavilion.

At the entrance of the first-floor hall, Fan Hongjiao suddenly stopped, turned her head, and said to Duan Rong, "Junior Brother, I’m taking you now to our direct disciples’ cultivation chamber!"

"Cultivation chamber?"

Fan Hongjiao continued, "You’ve only been at Yunfu Peak for a few days. Bringing you into the cultivation chamber this quickly is already breaking records on Yunfu Peak."

Duan Rong’s eyes lit up, and he said, "Thank you, Senior Sister, for taking care of Duan Rong’s matters."

Fan Hongjiao acknowledged with a sound and continued to walk forward.

Behind the wide hall on the first floor of the pavilion, there was another space.

The group walked straight in, where four attendants were stationed. When those attendants saw the corpses of the Two-legged Frenzied Python and the Cyan-eyed Giant Lizard being dragged in, they seemed indifferent, clearly accustomed to such sights.

The attendants, seeing them enter, immediately bowed respectfully and said, "Master!"

Fan Hongjiao looked at the attendants and said, "Open the wooden wall door and prepare some food; I am going to meditate in seclusion for a few days."

"Yes!"

The four attendants replied, one already walking over to a hidden mechanism in the room, while the other two bent low and left to prepare food. The last one remained standing in place, bending over without moving.

The attendant twisted the hidden mechanism, and the carved wooden wall in front suddenly opened, revealing a dark hole hidden behind it.

Duan Rong looked at the cave’s entrance and felt a move in his heart. This pavilion was built against the mountain, and behind this hall, by positioning, was the mountain body of Yunfu Peak.

With Fan Hongjiao leading, they walked into the cave. After their figures disappeared, the attendant in the room twisted the mechanism to close the wooden wall door again.

After entering the cave and passing through a short corridor, they appeared in a large stone chamber. In the middle of the stone chamber was an enormous divine statue, more than two people tall.

Seeing the divine statue, Duan Rong’s eyes jumped. He recognized the statue as that of the Unmoving Bright King.

And on the four walls of the stone chamber, there were seven stone doors.

Fan Hongjiao glanced at Lu Geng and asked, "Lu Geng, do you have the keys to the remaining three cultivation chambers?"

"Yes, I have them."

"Choose a cultivation chamber for Junior Brother later." After saying this, Fan Hongjiao turned to Wang Yue and said, "Wang Yue, distribute the corpses."

Wang Yue responded, wielding his Butterfly Double Sabers, and started slicing the corpses expertly like a butcher.

Before long, five piles of carcass parts, varying in size, were laid on the ground.

Wu Shidao’s pile was slightly smaller than Fan Hongjiao’s, but he received a snake gall, which was considered the most valuable acquisition this time.

Lu Geng had a bit more than Wang Yue.

The division of these resources was obviously related to the Cultivation Realm; the higher one’s cultivation, the more one tended to consume.

The smallest pile, of course, belonged to Duan Rong, consisting of just a claw from the Two-legged Frenzied Python, a tail from the Cyan-eyed Giant Lizard, and a bag of blood.

Wu Shidao looked at Duan Rong and said, "Junior Brother, don’t be unhappy with so little. These things are basically enough for your cultivation for half a year."

After dividing the resources, each person took their share to their respective cultivation chambers.

Duan Rong went along, carrying the tail and claw, following Lu Geng.

Lu Geng used a peculiar-looking key to open a large stone chamber door and then turned with a smile at the entrance, saying, "Junior Brother, kindly wait here. I’ll take you to the cultivation chamber after I get the key."

Duan Rong stood there and nodded, saying, "Alright, please go ahead, Senior Brother Lu."

It seemed this cultivation chamber was quite a hidden place, and Lu Geng evidently didn’t want Duan Rong to enter yet.

Lu Geng entered the chamber, placed his portion of resources on the ground, and, after a brief flash in his eyes, walked over to a trunk in the corner to rummage through it. He quickly pulled out a wooden box, opened it, and found three rusted keys inside.

After a slight hesitation, Lu Geng chose one key and then exited the cultivation chamber.

Upon exiting, Lu Geng said to Duan Rong with a smile, "Let’s go, Junior Brother, I’ll take you to your cultivation chamber. Out of the three chambers, I specifically chose the largest one for you."

Duan Rong said, "Thank you, Senior Brother Lu!"

The two walked to a stone door, and Lu Geng inserted his key into a hollow in the shape of a beast’s eye and turned it slightly. The stone door slowly moved open.

Perhaps this chamber hadn’t been used in a long time, for as the stone door shifted, dust and small stones kept falling down.

Lu Geng fanned away the billowing dust in front of him and said, "Junior Brother, you might want to have the attendants clean this place up later; it’s been too long since anyone’s been in this chamber."

Once the dust settled, Lu Geng led Duan Rong inside.

Using a flint, Lu Geng lit the candles on the walls. Duan Rong took a look around and saw a rather large stone chamber, though it was covered with dust everywhere.

Lu Geng glanced at Duan Rong, and upon seeing the claw and tail Duan Rong was carrying, he said, "Junior Brother, let me show you how to preserve this Primordial Beast flesh first?"

"How to preserve it?" Duan Rong’s eyes flickered with interest.

Lu Geng replied, "This meat contains Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi refined by the Primordial Beast, which makes it easier for cultivators to absorb and nourishes the Dantian Meridian. However, once these Primordial Beasts die, the Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi in their flesh will slowly dissipate, so preservation is also vital."

As he spoke, Lu Geng went to a corner of the chamber and turned the head of a beast sculpture.

After that, a small stone door unexpectedly opened in the wall.
