I Can Devour Spirits

Chapter 670 - 417: Mental Realm and Saber Aura (2)

But because they are mental realms, they have a very fragile and thin membrane of light as a barrier. Duan Rong used his Divine Soul Needle to pierce the thin outer membrane, allowing the essence of the mental realm to enter the gray phantom body and be absorbed by it.

The gray phantom is his Divine Soul Origin, and being absorbed by the gray phantom means being absorbed by his own divine soul.

With a thought, Duan Rong’s image suddenly vanished from the void.

With a single thought, he had already exited the Divine Soul Space.

Sitting cross-legged on the large bluestone beside the deep pool in the dense forest, Duan Rong’s eyes suddenly opened, clear and bright, deep and flickering.

He suddenly leapt up, the animal skin falling in mid-air, and the Frost Patterned Phosphor Crystal Saber appeared in his hand with a flash of white light. In the depths of the dense forest, he began to execute the Six Harmonies Saber Technique.

After executing three moves, Duan Rong’s mind moved, and simultaneously, in his Divine Soul Space, the saber shadow at the center of the gray phantom’s forehead suddenly lit up.

On Duan Rong’s Frost Patterned Phosphor Crystal Saber, an indistinct and wavering saber aura about half an inch long suddenly emerged!

This saber aura was the Power of Mental Realm!

With this mental realm, he was almost invincible within the same tier!

Saber aura is something that only a Martial Artist in the Qi Vortex Realm can produce, yet it appeared on Duan Rong’s saber blade. Although the saber aura was not solid, appearing very indistinct and wavering, it was still a saber aura!

It was completely in a different league!

Mental realms are purely matters of the divine soul level. Therefore, even though Duan Rong had not yet reached the Qi Vortex Realm, as long as his divine soul merged with the mental realm, he could still wield its power.

As the saber aura sprang forth, Duan Rong’s eyes remained calm and unaffected. With each slash, he distinctly sensed a delicate change in the sound of the blade cutting through the air. The sensation of that power in his hands instantly spread throughout his entire being.

After completing a set of the Six Harmonies Saber Technique, Duan Rong stood and collected his thoughts, his eyes not showing any hint of joy, but rather a deep worry crossing them.

To use or not to use the mental realm and saber aura was just a matter of his mind’s urging.

He could try his best to conceal it and not expose it, but what if one day it was exposed? How would he explain it?

After all, his environment had changed; it was no longer the remote and isolated Xianggu County. He was now in the Taiyi Sect and had been accepted by an elder in the Elder Hall, becoming a Direct Disciple.

He was surrounded by masters! Even if he was very careful, there was always the possibility of exposure!

Moreover, before, he had only observed hundreds of weapons in the stone chamber of Gu Mountain. Although it was a bit unusual, he didn’t think it was a big deal. But even so, it still attracted Wu Shidao’s repeated probing.

If a disciple of the Primordial Qi Realm suddenly demonstrated the Power of Mental Realm, wouldn’t that be going against the general norms of the world?

Therefore, he must plan ahead! At the very least, have a passable reason to cover it up!

Plans must be in place to succeed, or without them, they are doomed to fail!

As Duan Rong contemplated this, a vague idea flashed through his mind, something related to the mental realm.

He traced that hazy memory, but could not recall its specific content. However, he was certain that he had seen this thing in the Scripture Repository.

"Related to the mental realm..."

Duan Rong stood with his saber, his eyes flickering.

After a while, he decided that since he couldn’t remember, he would go back to the Scripture Repository and search again. So, Duan Rong wrapped the Frost Patterned Phosphor Crystal Saber in animal skin, tied it to his waist, and left the mountaintop, heading towards the Scripture Repository.

The Scripture Repository had many hidden areas that were only open to Inner Sect Disciples. However, Duan Rong was not going to those places. He had found the item related to the mental realm when he was still a Registered Disciple. Thus, Duan Rong went straight to a certain pavilion in the Outer Court.

Registered Disciples needed to swipe points on the Star Disc to enter the Scripture Repository, but Duan Rong directly presented his Sect Cloud Scroll as an Inner Sect Disciple.

The elder guarding the entrance immediately stood up upon seeing Duan Rong’s Sect Cloud Scroll, and respectfully returned it with both hands, saying, "Sir, please enter!"

Though puzzled as to why an Inner Sect Disciple would visit the Outer Court of the Scripture Repository, the elder did not dare to inquire further.

After slipping away his Sect Cloud Scroll, Duan Rong stepped in boldly. A few scattered Registered Disciples near the entrance looked at Duan Rong in amazement, wondering why the usually arrogant guard treated this young man with such respect. Those Registered Disciples were puzzled and soon began to speculate about Duan Rong’s identity.

In this place, Duan Rong strolled casually as if walking through a garden, but his eyes never left the items on the shelves.

Occasionally, he saw a few Registered Disciples leafing through the texts.

Suddenly, Duan Rong stopped next to a shelf, and from its corner, he pulled out a thin, yellowed booklet. Its cover read: Taiyi Sect’s List of Ancestors.

Standing by the shelf, Duan Rong opened it.

The booklet was thin, and Duan Rong quickly flipped through it, shaking his head before putting it back where it belonged.

When putting it back, his eyes caught another book beside it, thicker than the previous one and, like the former, yellowed and covered with a thick layer of dust.

Duan Rong pulled it out and dusted it off, revealing a cover that read: List of Elders of the Taiyi Sect.

A vague memory flashed in Duan Rong’s mind as he opened the booklet, directly skipping the front parts and reading from the last few pages backward.
