I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents

Chapter 641: Fried Withered

  • Next Chapter

He was only Level 28, and defeating three creatures up to Level 33 without direct help showed that his martial art and experience were truly valuable.

Of course, the difference in their strength was still huge, Lian could easily kill even Level 45 monsters.

But he was an anomaly, not a normal standard, and no one should use common sense to compare him with others.

After a short rest, they both continued moving.

The closer they got to the paths leading toward the center, the more Withered they encountered.

But the strange thing was that many of them still paid no attention to humans.

Creatures with broken bodies, missing legs, and twisted faces continued moving without stopping.

Some did not even turn their heads toward Lian and Rindo when passing beside them, as if their destination was more important than anything else.

Near noon, Rindo’s communication device activated.

"Southwest scouting team to all nearby forces, we need immediate help!"

He answered immediately.

"Report."

"There are four of us! Our escape route is blocked, and several mutated creatures are attacking us!"

Lian looked at Rindo.

His friend checked the reported location.

"They’re about two kilometers from here."

"Then let’s go."

Before Rindo could even lower his communication device, Lian started moving.

His body moved quickly through the trees, and his friend was forced to send more mana into his legs to keep the distance between them from becoming too large.

A few minutes later, the sounds of metal clashing and creatures roaring reached their ears, and they arrived at a rocky area with a deep crack on one side.

Four Awakened had taken positions near a broken wall.

One of them was injured, and two others were using their weapons to keep several attacking Withered away.

But there were more than just a few creatures around the area.

Lian quickly estimated their number with a glance.

Nearly thirty Withered.

Some were moving toward the center and paid no attention to the battle, but another group was acting very aggressively.

One of them, a creature nearly four meters tall, attacked the defenders with its bone claws.

Rindo immediately prepared his spear, but Lian raised his hand.

"It’s my turn this time." He didn’t want to waste too much time here, the Third Judgment was getting closer, and time was very valuable in this situation.

Rindo looked at the creatures.

Several information windows had appeared in front of him.

[Level 38]

[Level 42]

And even [Level 46]

He did not lower his spear, but he stopped moving forward.

"Alright, I’ll protect the trapped forces."

"Good." Lian nodded and then walked toward the battlefield.

A Level 34 Withered noticed his presence and ran toward him with a rough roar.

He didn’t even change the speed of his steps, when the creature came within a few meters, he lowered his palm slightly.

[Frost Dominion]

Intense cold spread across the ground.

The moisture in the air turned into tiny ice crystals, and a layer of ice formed over the stones, cracks in the ground, and the attackers’ feet.

Several Withered tried to change direction, but before they could succeed, the ice around their limbs became thicker.

The Level 34 creature pulled its foot from the ground with all its strength.

Part of the ice broke.

But just as it was about to take its second step, Lian appeared in front of it.

The creature opened its mouth, but it had no chance to make a sound.

His right fist struck its face.

BOOOOM!

The Withered’s head was destroyed by the strike, and its headless body remained standing for a few moments before falling onto the frozen ground.

[You have killed a Level 34 Withered]

Lian turned his gaze toward the others.

"Next."

A Level 40 Withered with thick arms broke the ice around its feet and charged forward.

But before it could reach the young Vorhelm, another strike hit its chest, and the sound of breaking bones could be heard.

The creature’s body bent backward and fell to the ground.

Lian had not even used a special skill, for most of these creatures, his normal physical strength was more than enough.

[EXP Gained]

At the same time, three Withered moved toward the four trapped Awakened from the eastern side of the battlefield.

Rindo stepped forward and prepared his spear, but one of the creatures was Level 42, and it had already gotten very close to the injured forces.

Lian glanced in that direction and then raised his right hand.

[Glacial Reaper Claw]

Cold mana formed in front of his hand, and five huge, curved blades made of solid ice appeared; their edges were so thin that the golden sunlight reflected on them as bright lines.

With a movement of his hand, the claw moved across the battlefield, the first Withered tried to jump backward, but it was too late....

The ice blades passed through its body.

The second creature raised its arms, but the huge claw cut through them and continued moving, tearing open its chest.

The third Withered managed to move beside a large rock.

But Lian changed the direction of his attack.

The ice claw returned from the opposite angle and cut the creature’s body in half before it could escape.

All of this had happened in just a few seconds.

Rindo stopped moving for a moment, then turned his gaze from the bodies toward Lian.

This isn’t fair at all.

He had been forced to change his position several times and use a considerable amount of mana to defeat three weaker Withered.

But Lian had destroyed stronger creatures without even getting close to them.

Of course, this did not make him jealous.

Instead, seeing such a huge difference in strength helped him better understand how far he still was from the greatest talent and genius of his generation.

And more importantly, he still had plenty of time to improve.

At that moment, a loud roar came from the direction of the crack.

A Level 46 Withered with a long body and several bone arms came out from between the rocks.

Unlike most of the creatures around it, its movements were fast and well-coordinated.

Several of its long arms had turned into bone blades, and every time it moved, their tips left deep marks on the stone surface.

The creature examined the battlefield, its gaze stopped on the frozen bodies, and then it stared at Lian.

For a moment, it remained still, it had enough intelligence to understand that it was not facing an ordinary human, but a top predator.

A predator created to hunt monsters, the ultimate nightmare.

Even so, it did not have enough common sense to run away, and instead, it attacked at high speed.

Lian looked at the creature.

The Withered jumped from the frozen ground and twisted its body in the air, four bone blades moved toward him from different angles at the same time.

But he did not even take a step back, and mana began flowing around his body.

[Thunder Calamity]

A loud sound of thunder filled the battlefield, and streams of dark, bright lightning formed around the young Vorhelm’s arm.

Before the bone blades could reach him, the lightning crossed the short distance between them.

CRAAACK!

The Withered’s body tightened in the air, and several of its arms moved away from their attack paths without control, stopping its fast movement for a moment.

Lian tilted his head slightly.

"Did you really think you could reach me?"

Despite its injuries, the creature tried to regain control of its body.

But he raised his hand, and another stream of lightning gathered along his arm, and a moment later....KRAAAACK!

The lightning struck the Withered’s chest, the smell of burned flesh spread through the air, and the creature’s body was thrown backward before falling among the broken rocks several meters away.

This time, it did not get up again, naturally, after turning from a Withered into a fried Withered, there was no way it was getting back up.

[You have killed a Level 46 Withered]

[EXP Gained]

One of the trapped Awakened stared at the scene with his mouth half-open.

"Is he... is he really a student?"

His companion did not answer, because he himself did not know what to say.

They even felt a little sorry for the Withered, they had been fried in just a few seconds.

Without paying attention to their reactions, Lian moved toward another Withered.

The Level 43 creature, unlike the previous enemies, had formed layers of dense mana around its body.

When he approached it, the Withered raised its thick arms, and the defensive structure around its chest became stronger.

He examined the mana flow for a moment and then gave a faint smile.

The golden light around his right fist turned dark for a moment.

[Corrupt Sun]

Eclipse Energy moved along the same corrupted light and settled on one of the creature’s defensive layers.

The Withered noticed the change and tried to send more mana to that same point.

But the young Vorhelm moved before the monster could complete its defense, and his fist struck the creature’s chest.

At that same moment, the damaged mana layer began to weaken under the effect of the corrupted light, and a small amount of End Energy also reached that same point.

The connection within the damaged section broke for a moment, and the physical force of Lian’s fist passed through the opening.

CRACK!

The sound of the Withered’s internal structures breaking could be heard.

The creature remained still for a moment, then fell to its knees before its body collapsed forward.
