I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents

Chapter 527: The Seven Divines

"Region Four follows the Divine of Chaos."

Lian immediately thought of the Wolfgrave, as well as the ruined civilization he had found around that area, he had encountered some remains related to the followers of that god there.

From what he had seen, he could only say that they definitely had a very deep and very different view of life.

"Region Four is stranger than the others. Even they themselves do not always agree on what Chaos means. Some of their sects believe Chaos means freedom of choice, while some say it means breaking anything that limits the future to a single path."

"As long as there is a second path, fate is not a command, huh?" Lian quietly whispered, as this sentence was suddenly remembered in his mind.

The priest looked directly at him.

"That is one of their slogans...Have you met them before?" he asked and then added.

"That is one of the oldest sentences connected to the Divine of Chaos. But Region Four does not have only one school. Some of their branches are almost harmless, some of them...it is better to never be alone with them."

Lian looked at Two, that wolf was the result of the work of one of those branches, he had no disagreement with this part.

They really could be crazy.

"Saying that I have met them would be wrong, I have only seen some things related to them, however, since they do not like Fate very much, what is their relationship with you?"

"Well...they did not care about us from the beginning and it is still the same, but they do not act against Fate either...with all their beliefs and teachings, they still do not have the courage to do that," the old priest answered.

"How ridiculous," Lian laughed a little, he did not expect those crazy people to not have the courage to oppose Fate despite everything they said.

"Anyway, Region Five follows the Divine of Eternity and Immortality."

"The name is too ambitious," Kain said.

"They themselves have not become immortal yet," the priest answered without changing his expression.

Kain almost laughed

"The oldest living families among the seven Regions are mostly there. They work on increasing lifespan, preserving the body, keeping the soul, transferring memories, and preventing decay."

"How long can they live?"

"For normal people, there is not much difference. But some of their elders...have lived for several hundred years, since the same year the world entered this era full of destruction and monsters."

Lian slightly raised his eyebrows, this information was more important than it seemed at first.

If there were people in the Ruined Realm who had lived for several centuries, they probably had information that could explain many things.

"Do they know more about the time before the Fall? Or the reason for what happened to this world?"

"A lot more, and why our world became like this? Well...that is information that perhaps their oldest people know, but I doubt anyone knows the real reason," the priest answered after a short silence.

"And do they give that information?" The young Vorhelm was not disappointed after hearing that perhaps no one knew about the Calamities, and it was still possible that they at least knew one or two things.

But perhaps in the end, the best way to learn more about the Calamities was Ezrak.

"Rarely, Region Five gives almost nothing valuable without getting something more valuable in return," the old man gave a bitter smile.

Lian kept this in his mind as well, perhaps he would have a chance to meet them in the future, and even if they did not know anything about the calamities, they might have other useful information.

"Region Six follows the Divine of Shadow and Darkness."

"I think this one could be guessed," Kain said.

"Infiltration, hiding, spying, assassination, gathering information, and moving through darkness. They are the best at all of these."

"So the reason your secret operation had an entire army as guests after three days is clear, you cannot hide anything from them, huh?" The Child of Light looked at the corpses.

"Almost no major operation outside the borders of Region Three can stay hidden from Region Six for long."

"They are annoying."

"That was the mildest description I have heard of them," the priest looked at him.

Only one remained.

"Region Seven follows the Divine of Soul and Dream."

The priest continued:

"Culturally, they are different from most Regions. Many of their teachings are built around the soul, sleep, memory, dreams, and mental communication, and they are also good at making artifacts."

"So they can enter your mind?" Kain frowned slightly.

"Some of them."

"Great."

"What about their army? They do not seem that strong."

"Their army cannot directly be compared to Region Two, but if you think that means attacking them is easy, you are wrong."

"Why?"

"Because some of Region Seven’s defenses are not walls at all."

Kain became silent.

The priest explained.

"You may think you passed through the gate. Walk for hours. Fight a guard. Even think you entered the center of the Region...and then wake up and realize that you had been lying asleep a few steps in front of the entrance the entire time."

"Okay.... I do not like this one," the Child of Light sighed.

Lian was also thinking, he had previous information about this Divine as well, according to what they knew from the previous Ruined Realms, the followers of this god were considered some of the most harmless ones.

He did not know if they were the same in this world or not, but at least in the previous ones, if a small civilization of them existed, they were isolated and tried to hide as much as possible.

They were more defensive than aggressive, and because of that, dealing with them was not easy, and since nothing about them seemed especially dangerous, the Awakened also ignored them.

Of course, in the ruins related to this Divine, good artifacts and skill books for protection against mental attacks, and even skill books for mental attacks, had been obtained.

Methods of Soul Refining had also been discovered and developed through the remains of their civilizations.

Lian stayed silent for a while.

Until today, "the seven Regions" had been more of a geographical term to him, he knew they were special, the fact that unlike the previous Ruined Realms, seven civilizations had still managed to survive in this world showed how special they were.

But until now, he had never thought much about them, and now he could see that the reality was much more complicated.

Each Region was the heir of one of the seven Divines, with a different religion, different culture, different way of fighting, different technology and artifacts, and differences that apparently went back for centuries.

Now a prophecy had disturbed this entire fragile structure.

"But this prophecy is still bothering me," he looked at the priest again.

"What?"

"The Child of Light is chosen and sent by a god, you believe that you will be saved by this person, and even the apocalypse will end and your world will also be saved...right?"

"Yes, this is the belief of me and all the followers of the Divine of Light."

"Then why, from the view of the other Regions, even Region One, is this not a good thing? What exactly is said in this prophecy that made everyone look at the negative side? Is it related to the companion? But what is this companion supposed to do?"

This time, the priest did not answer immediately, the same silence appeared again whenever the prophecy was mentioned.

"Because what comes after the Child of Light...from their view, is not salvation, but it could be the end of the world...all worlds."

"If my guess is correct, the prophecy does not say anything about salvation, this is your belief, because you believe your god is on the right side, right?" Lian added again with the same expressionless face.

Kain looked at Lian, he did not know where this discussion was going, but he also had a bad feeling about this prophecy.

What did it mean that he was supposed to have some connection to the destruction of the worlds in this prophecy?

"We cannot talk about the prophecy...that prophecy is blasphemy and talking about it has been forbidden by the Lord," the priest did not answer again.

However, his words confirmed Lian’s reasoning, the prophecy did not say anything about the Child of Light coming to save the world, and that was why it was considered blasphemy.

But he did not like his own reasoning, what did it mean that both he and Kain might have something to do with the destruction of the worlds?

Where did this stupid prophecy even come from?

What is the origin of the followers of the Divine of Fate?

"Am I really going to become the reason the worlds are destroyed?" But he did not reach a conclusion.

It was possible that the prophecy had nothing to do with the destruction of the worlds, maybe all these natives had simply misunderstood it.

Several minutes of silence passed.

The priest now looked less like a prisoner and more like a very tired man who had finally allowed his body to feel the pain.

He rested his head against the pillar and.

"When I was a child, the first outer shrine I knew was lost."

Kain and Lian looked at him.

The man continued without anyone asking.

"My father served there. One night, news came that it had been attacked. No one came back."

The two Region Three soldiers lowered their eyes.

"When I reached the age to become a priest, no caravan left the Region without guards anymore. A few years later..." a bitter smile appeared on his face.

"Even guards were not enough."

"Every year, one less route, less trade, and more suffering."

"All this time, from when I was a child until now, we heard one thing; endure."

He paused.

"Preserve the remains, find the lost shrines, do not let the Light go out."

Then he raised his head and this time looked directly at Kain.

"Until the Child of Light comes."

Kain said nothing.

"Many people have heard this sentence their entire lives," the priest continued.

"Many died with it...my father was one of them. My teacher was one of them, many of the people who died here today also believed in the same thing."

His eyes moved toward the corpses of the people from Region Three for a moment.

"Endure."

He slowly let out his breath.

"But none of them saw this day."

This time even Kain could not use a joke to make the moment lighter, and his eyes stayed on the shrine as his thoughts returned to the Sphere Of Witness, the Tear it had absorbed, and even his Child of Light class.

For him, a few hours ago, this Sphere had been an incredible reward.

An Ancient-ranked artifact and a powerful tool, and that Tear was only something that had changed his talent and class and given him the chance to finally become a genius and prodigy.

That was all....

But for the man sitting in front of him, all of these things were something very different...even his own existence was the same, and proof that the expectations of several generations might not have been useless.

Kain slightly turned his face away, he did not feel comfortable, and for once, instead of hiding it behind a joke, he allowed the silence to remain.

Lian also said nothing, he had no idea about his friend’s inner struggles, but his mind was not idle either.

They now had several problems, first, Kain.

If what the priest said was true, he was no longer just one of Earth’s Awakened who had accidentally found an Ancient-ranked artifact.

The six Regions might simply send forces to kill him.

Second, the prophecy.

Region One knew something about Kain’s arrival, and apparently also knew about the person who would come with him, and there was a good chance that person was him.

Third....Region 3.

Going there could give them a huge amount of information.

But it could just as easily turn into willingly entering one of the strongest native fortresses.

Fourth...Lian himself.

He had obtained the Corrupted Sun and the Eclipse Core, fought a Level 50 Fallen, and seen short memories of a Demon.

The simple journey that had started only to see what was beyond the border of Base #9 had quickly gone out of control.

After some time in silence, the priest slightly straightened his body, the new respect in his eyes toward Kain was even a little strange to Lian.

"Anyway...Child of Light."

Kain immediately changed his expression, it was clear that he still did not like hearing this title.

"Now that we have found you, I cannot pretend this is only a chance meeting."

His eyes stopped on Lian for a moment, short but meaningful, and then returned to Kain.

"Do you want to come to Region Three?"
