I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents
Chapter 525: The True Child Of Light
"This reaction is more like what I wanted to say myself." Kain pressed his lips together after seeing the old man’s reaction.
He himself was not happy with the reasoning and the conclusion either, but seeing an old man behave like this because of him was annoying.
But the priest could not hear him.
"The Child of Light cannot be an outsider." The man stared at the ground.
"He cannot have come from another world. The prophecy... the prophecy never said—"
His sentence remained unfinished, because he himself realized it....the prophecy had never said such a thing....or at least, it had never said such a thing as far as he knew.
His eyes showed disbelief.
"The Tear..." His voice became quieter.
"The Tear of Witness was supposed to be kept for him."
The two soldiers behind him looked at each other.
The priest continued, speaking more to himself than to the others.
"The sphere was the same. All the inheritances of the Witness... were supposed to be given to him when the Child of Light descended. No one except him should have been able to—"
He became silent again...his mind was clearly fighting against something he had believed his entire life.
"Well, I don’t know if I should help or let him deal with it himself." Kain said calmly.
Lian did not answer, in his opinion, the best thing was to wait and see what would happen.
"Proof." The priest finally took his eyes away from the sphere.
"Proof of what?" The Child of Light frowned.
"Prove it....if you really are what he says you are...prove it."
"How?"
"I will test you."
The priest moved the torn collar of his clothes aside with his good hand and pulled something out from under it, a broken necklace.
In the middle of its short chain, there was a round piece that at first looked like nothing more than old metal.
But when the man placed it in his palm, seven very small mirror pieces opened around it.
[Seven-Ray Seal.]
The priest placed it on a relatively flat piece of stone, his good hand was shaking too much for him to put enough Mana into it.
So without saying anything, he dragged the tip of his finger across the broken edge of his own armor.
His skin was cut and a drop of blood fell onto the center of the seal, and then all seven mirrors opened at the same time.
"Priest...in your condition—" One of the Region Three soldiers said in a low voice.
"Silence."
The man did not even look at him and looked directly at Kain.
"Do not activate any skill. Do not give any structure to your Light, only use raw Light."
"Alright." He took a calm breath and held his right hand above the seal, for a moment, nothing happened.
Then a very weak Light was released from his palm.
The first mirror lit up.
Click.
The second and third also lit up behind it.
The priest continued watching, his expression almost did not change.
The fourth one lit up.
And this caused a small line to appear between his eyebrows.
The fifth one lit up.
The man’s breath stopped for a moment.
One of the two Region Three soldiers unconsciously took one step closer.
The sixth one lit up!
The color slowly disappeared from the priest’s face, leaving no anger or doubt.
Only one mirror remained.
"I think this last one is a little stubborn." Kain looked at it.
Before he could finish his sentence, the seventh one lit up and Light passed through all seven mirrors, but what happened after that made even Kain become silent.
The Light did not break apart, no colors appeared around it, the seven mirrors were supposed to divide the Light into different colors, this was what happened when a normal Light Element user put Light into the artifact.
But that did not happen!
The beam that came from Kain remained white and pure after passing through all of them, and there was no impurity in it.
The priest did not breathe.
The point of white Light expanded and all seven mirrors automatically rotated..
Click.
The Light gathered in the center of the seal and for a moment a symbol appeared on the ground.
An eye with a drop under it, the same symbol they had seen on the shrine gate.
No one said anything.
The Region Three priest only stared for a few seconds, his lips slightly apart.
It was as if everything he had believed in throughout his life had suddenly changed from a stupid story into something standing a few steps in front of him.
His legs bent, and he slowly fell onto both knees..
"Oh." Kain made a strange face.
"Child of Light..." The priest lowered his head.
The two Region Three soldiers looked at him and almost at the same time, they also knelt down.
Kain really had nothing to say this time.
The priest lowered his head even more.
"We did not recognize you." His voice had become calm, unlike before.
"We raised our weapons against you, sent forces to capture you, and even tried to take back something that had been kept for you from the beginning."
His good hand clenched in shame.
"I ask for your forgiveness, Child of Light."
Kain looked at Lian.
For someone who usually almost always had something to say, his expression was very clear.
What exactly am I supposed to do with this?
Lian only raised his shoulder very slightly.
The Child narrowed his eyes, this was not helpful.
"No..."
Another voice broke the silence.
Everyone turned toward the commander of Region Six, the man had remained silent until now but his expression had completely changed.
Of course, it was not the same hatred from before or anger, it was something much closer to fear.
"No."
His hand tightened around the handle of his weapon.
"This should not have happened."
The Region Three priest slowly raised his head.
The commander stared at Kain, but it was as if he no longer saw an outsider....he was seeing something much greater.
"Damn you..." His breathing became heavy.
"We are too late. We should not have let you open the shrine. We should not have let the Tear reach him and we definitely should not have let the sphere choose him."
"What are you talking about?" Kain frowned.
The commander did not answer him, he turned his head toward his three remaining warriors.
"Kill him."
One of the warriors did not move for a moment.
"Commander?"
"Kill him!" The man shouted this time and more blood came out from the wound in his side.
"If he stays alive, the prophecy will begin! Kill him right here. It does not matter what happens to us, it does not matter if none of us leave this city alive!"
The three warriors looked at each other for a moment, then their weapons were raised.
Kain gathered Light around his fingers to protect himself, but before he could move, Lian raised his right hand.
"Not necessary."
The commander gathered darkness around himself, and two warriors moved from the left and right.
The third one went directly toward Kain, the distance was about twenty meters.
But this time Lian was not looking at their bodies, he was seeing the Light, the white beams on the blades and the reflection of the sun from the edges of the armor.
The Light that came from the sun and fell across the commander’s face.
The Eclipse Core gave a small pulse and a small amount of energy was released from it, at that moment four lines of Light....became black.
The young Vorhelm only moved his index finger a few centimeters.
There was no explosion and there was not even any special sound.
Four very thin lines of Corrupted Light, so fast that normal eyes could barely follow their paths, passed through the space between them.
The commander reacted in time, a shield of darkness gathered in front of his body.
The first line reached the shadow and for a moment the surface of the shield even became thicker, but then a black point appeared at the center of contact.
The line simply passed through it, as if the structure of the darkness no longer existed at that point.
The thin line entered the commander’s chest and the other three lines reached the warriors almost at the same time.
One of the men still took two steps...then the sword fell from his hand.
The second one tried to gather Mana in his legs, but the energy in his paths became unstable, his knee bent and he fell onto the stone.
The third one put his hand on his throat and then he also fell.
There were no huge wounds on their bodies, this attack was not made to destroy buildings.
These lines made of Corrupted Light had eroded their vital organs and as a result, their dead bodies fell one after another.
The commander lasted a few seconds longer, his knees bent, but he held himself up with his sword.
Blood came down from his mouth, but his eyes fell on Lian, and it was as if Kain no longer mattered to him...as if he had seen something even more frightening....
The man’s eyes first moved in disbelief over the lines of Corrupted Light disappearing in the air.
Then his expression changed.
He had recognized something or at least remembered something.
"Corrupted Light..." The man whispered in a rough voice.
He paused and let out another breath, then those words came out of his mouth, more precisely, it was a title.
Something that even the Region Three priest became tense after hearing.
"The Dormant Calamity...."
Real fear could be seen on the face of the Region Six commander, a fear as if he had faced the end of the world...
Not fear of his own death, a much older fear.
It was as if what stood in front of him had, for a few moments, overlapped with something from his childhood stories or religious warnings.
Then the strength left his legs...his body fell onto the stone and became still.
