Chapter 515: Demon Of Eclipse

"I don’t know how to say it ...but this is an instinctive feeling, I have no idea what this Witness is, but I’m sure if we want to get the Sphere, we have to separate those damn veins from it," Kain said seriously.

Lian looked at him, naturally, he had no reason to doubt his friend’s instinct, especially since this instinctive feeling he had might come from the Tear Of Witness inside his body.

"And I guess you’re the only one who can help me," he added.

"No problem, I’ve got you covered," the young Vorhelm simply added, besides all of this, he felt that those black veins would be very useful to him.

"What you need to do is simple, just when they are separated from the Sphere, completely destroy them with lightning or ice."

Kain stood on the main platform, the circular grooves under his feet started to glow.

When he placed both palms on the white surface in front of him, the Light inside his body entered the structure, he had no idea what he was doing, every movement he made was completely instinctive.

At that moment, the Sphere of Witness changed, its pure white color became golden for a moment and the twelve rings stopped moving at the same time.

Then they started rotating in the opposite direction, the black veins on the Sphere twisted and some of them started rising from their places.

The first drop separated from the surface of the Sphere, a completely black liquid that remained floating in the air.

Lian reached his hand forward, but no ice or lightning appeared on his hand, even though Kain had told him to destroy this thing, his instinct was telling him something else.

His instincts were screaming that this thick black liquid, whatever it was, would give him an unbelievable benefit.

The drop was suddenly pulled toward him and entered his body.

For a moment, he felt nothing special, as if nothing had happened, but suddenly ....his eyes widened.

He felt something moving through his veins and all the energy channels in his body, and wherever it went, it was eating away at the energy structure around it.

He felt all the Mana inside his body being destroyed and worn away.

What the fucking hell was happening?

He had no doubt that if his body had the structure of a normal human, maybe even that tiny amount would have been enough to destroy all his Mana channels from the inside.

The black liquid moved toward a special space inside his body, the same special space that had appeared after his first evolution, the same place where a Core was supposed to exist.

Lian slowly let out a breath.

Kain, who was still keeping both hands on the platform, asked without turning around.

"What did you do? I told you to destroy those black veins! Why did you absorb it? Are you crazy? That thing was even able to disable something that belonged to a god-like being!"

He wanted to stop what he was doing, because then the black veins would stop separating from the Sphere, but he could not watch his best friend die!

Lian also seemed to be completely in a trance and gave no answer.

"What...? Fuck fuck fuck!" Kain suddenly realized that no matter what he did, he could not stop the Light!

Whatever he did, the Light coming from his body would not stop!

"What is happening? Fuck, it’s stuck! If you don’t stop, Lian will die! ....Please stop!"

But it was as if his body no longer listened to him, it was only following the instinct it was supposed to follow.

At that moment, the second vein separated from the Sphere, then the third one, and this time the flow did not stop.

Neither of them noticed the black stain that had started moving on the wall a few meters away from them.

A dry and hard surface that had looked like part of the stone for centuries...slowly became soft and a black drop fell down.

In another street, the black stain covering the body of one of the dried pilgrims flowed down from his shoulder and entered the grooves on the street.

The same thing happened in thousands of places across the city, wherever that black liquid existed, it was set in motion by the remains of energy that had been trapped inside that material for centuries.

Those veins entered the old channels of the city and all followed the same path, all of them moved in the same direction.

The forces of Region Three and Region Six were still fighting, for now, no one had noticed that the city under their feet was changing.

Inside the Sanctuary, Lian was no longer absorbing only one or two drops.

The black liquid separated from the Sphere, entered the rings around it, and then was pulled toward him through the structure of the ritual.

That special empty space inside his body, which was meant for the formation of a Core, was slowly being filled.

But what was gathering there was not a Core yet, it was a shapeless black mass.

He tried to keep his breathing steady, he had understood what was happening to his body, a Core was forming inside him.

A fucking monster Core was forming inside his body.

But how? After his first evolution, he had wondered how he could obtain a Core, but he had no answer, and now this was suddenly happening so quickly?

And what exactly was this black liquid that could turn into a Core inside his body?

But before he needed to think about it too much, the world in front of him shattered and for a moment, the huge space of the Sanctuary disappeared.

At first, the only thing he could see was darkness ...then it turned into the sky.

Lian felt that he was at an impossible height, but he was not flying, he could not feel any wings and there was no force holding him in the air.

It took a few seconds for him to understand what was happening, and then after looking around, he realized that he was really floating in the sky.

The sea was still below, and hundreds of ships were moving across it, and near the docks, there were places filled with people.

Along with white towers and mirrors that reflected the light of the sky.

There was no doubt, he was above Silent Light.

Was he seeing a memory ....? But whose memories exactly?

And the feeling that came with the memory into Lian’s mind was nothing like the view of an attacker looking at a large city.

He only felt indifference from this memory, as if the people below were not even enemies, but only small and worthless points.

Things that moved, things that had not been extinguished yet and needed to be destroyed ...that was all.

Then he finally heard a voice, a calm voice, but when that creature spoke, the clouds in the sky shook.

The surface of the sea formed waves.

And the towers of the city cracked from the pressure for a moment.

"I am the living eclipse, the shadow that existed before the first flame and will remain after the last Light."

"I am the hunger between the beginning and the end, the decay hidden behind every creation and the silence that remains after worlds collapse."

It paused for a moment.

It was as if the creature had only decided to make the creatures below aware of something that it itself considered an obvious truth.

"Your names, your gods, your cities, and the skies you consider sacred...to me, they are only things that I have not had the chance to extinguish yet."

The image shattered.

Lian was inside the Sanctuary again, but only for a fraction of a second, and when more black liquid entered his body, the next memory appeared.

The sky was full of Light, thousands of attacks were happening, golden spears, arrows made of Light, and huge arrays that covered the entire sky.

Warriors were flying high in the sky, priests were standing on the towers.

If such a level of power was released on one of the countries of Earth, perhaps nothing would remain.

But the Demon Of Eclipse did not even defend itself.

Lian understood its feelings, there was no fear inside it, there was not even caution or worry, it truly saw this entire army of several hundred thousand people from the city as worthless points.

The creature only moved forward.

Hundreds of attacks hit its body at the same time.

BOOOOOOM!

Light covered everything for a few moments, the clouds broke apart from the explosion and the sea below was pushed to both sides by the pressure.

But when the Light faded, the Demon Of Eclipse was still moving, there was no serious wound on its body, and its speed had not even decreased.

It slowly raised its hand, a simple movement that was almost without interest ...then brought it down.

That single movement was enough to make all the buildings in the city separate from their foundations at the same time, not only the buildings, even all living creatures were lifted from the ground.

And suddenly everything fell back to the ground ...

But that same movement turned the holy city into an abandoned ruin with hundreds of thousands of dead.

From that single movement alone, Lian understood something that no number could explain to him, for the people of the city, this battle was the end of their world.

For the Demon Of Eclipse? It had not even reached the point where it could be called a battle.

"So this is a Demon ...?" He had always heard that Demons should never be compared with any other monster, that even if a million-person army of Awakened could hunt one of them, it would itself be a kind of honor.

And now he understood why, the power of a Demon was not even possible to imagine.

Just one movement of its hand was equal to the death of hundreds of thousands of people and the complete destruction of a holy city.

The image shattered again.

The black mass inside the Core space became larger, Lian clenched his teeth.

"Lian? Please answer, damn it! At least tell me you’re okay!" Kain could hear his voice from a distance.

But there was no answer, because the third memory had appeared.

Thousands of people, this time standing behind a huge array, with seven layers of Light shields placed over each other.

Each layer was connected to several towers, and thousands of priests and warriors were supplying it with energy.

Even from the memory, Lian could understand how difficult it would be to break such a defense with raw power, besides that, he understood that these were reinforcements that had been sent to save the city.

They could be considered some of the strongest military units of the Light Religion.

In the past, before its world fell, Silent Light had been at the center of a great civilization, there had been thousands of cities and villages around it.

And each of them had smaller and local sanctuaries, the military units of the Light Religion were spread among all the cities so they could defend them in case monsters attacked.

But when the holy city was attacked, all the military units received a call to return.

And this was one of the elite units that created a huge array to fight against this Demon.

The Demon Of Eclipse stopped, slowly looked at them, and at that moment, a part of the darkness on its body separated.

It was so small that compared to a finger, it looked almost worthless, the darkness reached the shield and then a black line formed inside the first layer.

Then a second one and a third one, and the Light around them started shaking, and the layers went out one after another.

The darkness moved inside the structure.

The priests tried to put in more energy, but it was useless, the more Mana they sent, the more food that darkness had to consume.

In less than a few seconds, the array that thousands of people were maintaining died without a huge explosion, without breaking the wall and without a direct attack...it simply died.

Its Light went out and its structure fell apart, and nothing remained.

Lian understood the nature of that energy, that thing was the Essence of the Demon Of Eclipse, its power was not in a bigger attack, the Essence of the Eclipse wore down the energy structure from the inside.

Unfortunately, these people had never faced a Demon before that day, they did not know what they were facing.

Every plan and weapon was meaningless against that monster.
