Chapter 508: The Tear of Witness

The first line lit up.

Then the second.

The third.

All of the metal frames that the priests had installed around the tower lit up at the same time.

He immediately pulled his hand back, but it was already too late, the huge mirror at the top of the tower moved.

Krrrrrrrr...

Dust fell from its edges and the plate started to turn.

At the same moment, light came from behind them, from the first tower, a white beam moved hundreds of meters above the buildings and hit the mirror of this tower directly.

The surface of the mirror lit up, for one second it was so bright that the two of them had to narrow their eyes a little.

Then the second tower caught the beam, turned, and sent the light into the depths of the city.

The third tower.

Tak.

It lit up and caught the next beam, then the fourth tower, then the fifth, of course, this did not happen throughout the entire city but only a specific chain of towers lit up, but that was enough.

For a few seconds, a huge white path of light appeared across the entire dead city, from the upper entrance to the depths of the area.

In one of the Region Three camps in the city, a priest who was standing beside a table full of maps raised his head.

The light from the third tower fell onto the wall of the tent, the man only watched it for a few seconds.

"No..."

Another priest came outside and when the fourth tower lit up, the color left his face.

"This is impossible."

The high priest who was standing beside one of the half-completed frames slowly raised his head.

His eyes followed the path of light.

The fifth tower.

The fourth.

The third.

The second.

Then directly toward the same district where Lian and Kain were.

His eyes narrowed and he said only one sentence.

"They are there."

A few seconds later... DOOOOOOONG!

A huge bell rang in the camp, its sound spread between the buildings and then a second bell... DOOOOOOONG!

In different parts of the city, the forces of Region Three came out of their tents, soldiers picked up their weapons, and the patrols changed their routes.

And the priests one after another looked toward the towers that had lit up.

"I think they know exactly where we are now." Kain listened to the sound of the bells from beside the tower.

Lian opened the Heavenly Book of Treasures, this time the map had changed, the barrier that had kept the central area unclear until now had moved back.

The golden treasure mark became clearer.

[Treasure Information Updated.]

[The main source is located deep inside the shrine.]

[Path identified.]

A golden line appeared on the map, from the second tower, to the third and from there to the fourth and finally to the Shrine of Light.

He had already guessed that the treasure was in the shrine, but now the book had confirmed it too.

Kain listened to the bells that were waking the dead city one after another.

Then a thin light formed between his fingers.

"Looks like we can’t delay the confrontation anymore." Then his eyes fell on a group of Region Three soldiers who had reached the end of the street they were on.

DOOOOOONG!

The sound of the first bell passed through the towers of the Silent Light city.

A few moments later, the second bell answered, and before the first echo had completely disappeared from the abandoned streets, the third one also rang.

Lian closed the Celestial Book of Treasure.

Soldiers were coming out of the tents, guards were taking positions on the bridges, and groups that had been scattered around the city until a few moments ago were moving toward the mirror tower from several different paths.

Kain took his eyes away from the street below.

But the ordinary soldiers were not what caught their main attention.

Three stronger presences were moving among the crowd, coming from three different directions.

All three were wearing light-colored clothes under their light armor and, unlike the soldiers, they were not carrying normal weapons.

The first one was carrying a long staff with a golden ring at its end, the second had several thin tablets tied around his arm, and the third only had a white circular seal on his chest.

If he had to guess their levels based only on their presence, they were at least Level 39.

They were three priests who seemed to be leading the forces of Region Three.

None of them was a serious threat to Lian alone, they were not even an ordinary threat.

But looking at the mirror towers around them, he doubted they would fight alone, he did not know why, but he had a bad feeling about them and his instincts were warning him to be careful.

His instincts had never been wrong before.

Kain gathered light around his fingers again.

"About thirty soldiers are getting close, but three of them are more interesting."

"So you noticed too?" The young Vorhelm looked at his friend.

"Yeah, they give me a bad feeling too."

One moved a little forward.

Its antennae were raised, and its huge body almost completely blocked the entrance of one of the streets.

Lian sent a short command through the link.

Don’t kill them for now.

One sent a very slight feeling of dissatisfaction.

"Maybe I will let you later." Lian said quietly.

"You talked to One?" Kain looked at him.

"Yeah."

"What did you tell him?"

"Don’t eat people for now."

"I really don’t know when I should understand that you are joking." Kain looked at One for a few seconds.

The first group of soldiers entered the square.

Six came from the northern path, eight came from the stone bridge, and more than ten came from the street that led directly from the main camp.

None of them attacked immediately, the reason was obvious.

One.

The presence of the giant ant in the center of the square was enough to make even trained people slow down for a moment.

But then several of them noticed Kain.

"Outsiders!" one of the soldiers shouted loudly.

"Honored priests, what do you order us to do with them? They are barbarian outsiders! Whatever judgment you make, we will deal with them accordingly." The commander of the group turned toward the priests and asked in a very respectful and somewhat fanatical tone.

Lian and Kain both turned their attention toward the priests, they somewhat wanted to see whether the priests of this religion of light were the kind who were kind or not.

"They are stains that entered the city."

"Kill them. If they resist, it only proves that they have something to hide." The priest who seemed to be the leader of the other two priests said calmly.

"...."

"Light was not given to forgive everyone, they must be punished for existing in our holy city."

"The light decides what is worthy and their blood will make the light pure."

None of the priests seemed interested in forgiving them.

The commander of the group then turned his eyes toward his soldiers.

"You heard the orders! Kill the barbarians!"

"They are really good at welcoming guests." Kain gave a smile without any happiness.

"You know, I expected more from the religion of light, I guess I expected the wrong thing."

Two arrows made of light came from the building in front of them.

He raised his hands, a dense layer of light formed in front of his body for a moment.

Tak! Tak!

Both arrows were deflected and hit the wall behind him, the white stone cracked and then he moved his right hand forward.

A short beam of light was fired, directly toward the archer, although the archer immediately activated a defensive skill.

The beam of light broke through the defensive skill but was deflected and hit beside him.

Boom!

The wall behind the man exploded and he was forced to jump backward.

Kain was still looking at him when one of the three priests entered the square, his steps were slow and he did not seem to consider these outsiders a threat.

Then he completely stopped and his eyes fixed on the light around Kain’s hand, for a few seconds, he did not even pay attention to One or Lian anymore.

"Wait!"
