I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents

Chapter 502: Kain’s Crazy Idea

"Well...at least now we know where we need to go." Lian said while keeping his eyes on the fog on the other side of the pass.

The native commander looked at him with hatred, but he said nothing else.

There was nothing left to say either.

Within a few minutes, they had learned more than they were probably supposed to know; the forces of the Third Region had blocked the path of the Earth Awakened for several days, their priests were working on something on the other side of the pass, and their destination was also related to the Divine of Light.

The only thing he still did not know was exactly what was waiting for them there.

The camp leader came forward with several of his people.

"Thanks again for what you did." The man gave the native prisoners a short look and then continued more seriously.

"But if you really want to go to the other side, be careful. They are not the only group they have. If they have been blocking this path for three or four days, then they clearly have more people ahead."

"I know." Lian replied.

His eyes fell on the black restraint rings that one of the natives had brought to capture Kain.

A very small smile appeared on his face.

"Use the same things they brought to restrain us and tie them up."

The man was confused for a moment and then understood what he meant.

A few minutes later, the same restraint rings were around the native commander’s wrists.

The others were also restrained with special ropes and their own equipment.

The young Vorhelm only deactivated Frost Dominion after making sure that their hands and feet were completely restrained.

The ice around the prisoners’ feet cracked and turned into cold Mana particles within a few seconds, disappearing from the stones.

"Send the news to the base, both about the attacks over the past few days and about the fact that you captured some natives alive. If some of the missing Awakened really were captured, these people might know something, or at least it might be possible to negotiate with them."

"Don’t worry. I’ll send the report today." The camp leader nodded.

The native commander, whose hands were now tied with the same restraint device, slowly raised his head.

His eyes fixed directly on Kain.

"Pass through here and you will never return alive! What you stole will soon be taken back by our people!"

Kain, who was standing beside One, narrowed his eyes for a moment.

"I understand, apparently you don’t have anything besides nonsense." He said in a dry tone.

The commander sneered.

"When you see the people of the Third Region again, keep that same tone."

He said nothing and simply turned around and climbed onto One’s back, Lian also gave the prisoners one last look.

If the people of the Third Region still did not know that Kain was here, it was better for this situation to continue for as long as possible.

This group could no longer send the news, but sooner or later their disappearance would attract attention.

So there was no reason to waste time.

He also climbed onto One’s back.

"Let’s go."

The giant ant started moving.

A few minutes later, his six huge legs landed on the stone bridge of the pass and they crossed the last point where the groups from Base #9 regularly operated.

The sound of the camp slowly disappeared behind them, the lights became smaller and then the fog swallowed them.

For almost the first hour, the path was not very strange.

A wide road stretched between the rocks and most of its old stone pavement was buried under dirt and dust.

On both sides of the path, lantern statues appeared every few hundred meters.

Some were broken, some had no heads and some were still strangely well-preserved.

One passed between them without any problem.

Kain was mostly silent during that hour, Lian looked at him a few times, but he did not ask any questions.

In the end, his friend broke the silence himself, he raised his right hand slightly and a golden-white light the size of a small flame appeared between his fingers.

He looked at it for a few seconds.

There was nothing strange about it to him, it was the same light he had used many times during the past months.

He closed his fingers and the light disappeared.

"Do you think that from now on, every time I use the light, someone will realize that I absorbed the Tear?" He asked.

"Not everyone." Lian was looking at the path ahead.

"Are you sure?"

"Look at that previous group, all of them saw your light. But only one of them noticed it at first. Then he told the commander and the others reacted too."

"So it’s something obvious, but only to someone who knows what to look for." Kain thought for a few moments and reasoned with himself.

"Probably."

"So ordinary people won’t notice, but people who really know about the Divine of Light might realize it."

"So far, it seems that way."

A cold wind passed between the rocks, for a few seconds, only the sound of One’s footsteps remained.

Then Kain spoke again.

"It isn’t just that they want to capture me, that man looked at my power and understood something that I still don’t know after using it so much, I think that part bothers me more than the fact that they want to capture me."

This time Lian looked at him, what he said was not meaningless.

This boy had absorbed the Tear of the Divine of Light, his Class had changed, and he had gained new Talents.

The light inside his body could even be recognized by the followers of the Divine of Light, but he himself still did not know exactly what had entered his body.

With all the benefits it had given him so far, they still had no idea what exactly the Tear of the Divine of Light was.

And what made the light he used different from the light used by other users of the Light Element.

"Don’t worry, the place we’re going to belongs to the Divine of Light and the priests connected to it are there too, we should be able to get the information you want."

Kain stayed silent for a few seconds and then gave a short smile.

"I never thought that one day I would have to enter a place belonging to my enemy just to find out what is inside my own body."

"You had better choices."

"Like what?"

"Not absorbing it."

"That wasn’t a choice, remember? Even I didn’t understand what happened, but anyway, it caused me to have a four-star Class now." Kain laughed.

He then wanted to say something but suddenly stopped, his eyes stared ahead for a few seconds, but it was clear that his mind was somewhere else.

It was as if something had suddenly come to his mind ...and then he asked.

"Lian."

"Hmm?"

"Do you think the other six Divines also have something like that Tear?"

This time Lian slowly turned his head and only looked at his friend for a few seconds.

"Why? Do you want to absorb them too?"

Kain said nothing and that silence was the answer.

The young Vorhelm stared at his friend for a few seconds and then let out a short sigh.

"Are you crazy?"

"I haven’t said anything yet." The Child Of Light smiled.

"You didn’t have to."

Lian placed his hand on the armor on One’s back so that he would not lose his balance because of the movement of his huge body.

"You absorbed one Tear and the people of the Third Region want to capture you alive. Then your plan is to go after the other six? Do you want to make all seven native regions chase after you?"

"Well...when you put it like that, it sounds really bad."

"Because it is really bad."

Kain stayed silent for a few moments, this time the playful look on his face was weaker.

"But if one Tear was able to change my evolution path, then what happens if I absorb the other six?"

Lian looked at him.

And he continued.

"My Class is four-star. If these things can really affect the evolution path...maybe I can reach a five-star Class."

The Vorhelm said nothing for a moment, this time his friend’s words were not only about greed for power.

A five-star Class meant the possibility of five evolutions, much higher limits.

If something existed in this world that could change the number of stars of a Class, its value was impossible for most people to imagine.

But the problem was that Kain still did not know whether a second Tear would even be compatible with his body.

Or whether something like a Tear really existed for all the Divines.

Or whether two effects belonging to two different Divines would destroy his body.

"Let’s first find out what this is." Lian said.

Kain nodded.

"After that, you can make plans to make the other six regions your enemies."

"It’s good that you support me."

"I never said I would come with you."

"If I go, you’ll come." Kain leaned slightly toward him.

"No."

"You will."

Lian did not answer.

Kain waited for a few seconds and then nodded with satisfaction.

"That silence means yes."

"Now I understand that silence really can be interpreted very badly." The young Vorhelm only gave him a look this time.

When almost two hours had passed since they started moving, the road began to change.

The soft dirt became less common, the color of the ground became lighter and white layers that looked like salt could be seen between the cracks in the rocks.

In some places, black and shiny pieces were scattered across the ground.

Kain first thought they were pieces of stone, but when the light from the sky fell on one of them, its surface reflected it like glass.

Unfortunately, they had no map to know whether they were even going in the right direction or not, and the farther they went, the stranger the path became.

World Memory could not help by itself either.

This ability did not create maps.

It could only match its old information with an existing map and rebuild missing areas, old roads, or recorded structures on it.

But now there was no map.

Although this did not mean that World Memory had become completely useless ... perhaps it was time to combine it with the Celestial Book Of Treasures.
