I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents

Chapter 468: The Living Cave II

  • Next Chapter

Lian’s eyes narrowed, now that he looked more carefully, it was not hard to understand the truth, part of the cave really was natural stone and ice.

But what he called a laboratory had grown on something alive.

The walls he thought were covered with unknown materials were actually thick layers of tissue.

The tubes were veins, some of the blue lights were sensory organs, and that weak smell of blood...was the blood of this place itself.

The first time he had seen this man, he thought that he had lived or hidden in that border city all this time, but now he understood how wrong he had been.

Many of the guesses about this man, not only his but also the Federation’s, had been wrong, and he had been hiding far more secrets than they expected.

According to Gareth, this man had been in their world for at least twenty years, God knew what he had done in this world during all those years.

"Every time I think you can’t get any stranger."

Lian slowly breathed out.

"Thank you."

Ezrak smiled with satisfaction.

"That wasn’t a compliment."

"It was for me."

At that moment, mana gathered in his legs.

[Thunder Step]

Boom!

The stone under his foot cracked, and his body jumped several meters forward in an explosion of blue-purple light.

Ezrak was nothing like Rodrick in physical strength, if Lian reached him, one hit would be enough.

The distance went from fifteen meters to less than five meters in a fraction of a second.

But at that exact moment, the floor of the cave opened...it really opened.

A large crack formed under the young Vorhelm, and two rows of white bones jumped out from both sides of it.

They were jaws!

Teeth as long as a human arm that could crush and tear anything apart.

Crack!

The two rows of bones slammed into each other with terrifying force.

If Lian had reacted half a second later, his body would have been crushed between them like a piece of meat, but before the jaws could close, his body turned into ash.

[Ash Step]

A mass of black ash scattered between the teeth and formed again several meters away.

"Ah!

You didn’t have this!

Is it new?

That’s so cool!"

Ezrak clapped excitedly.

"There are many things I didn’t have."

"You know, when you combine with a Calamity Seed and my child finally comes alive, it will also be able to use all the skills and little secrets you use, even thinking about it is great, isn’t it?"

Lian had not answered yet when the wall on his left split open and five thin arms jumped out.

They were tall, each one was more than four meters long, and each one had three joints, with thin fingers and curved bone claws at the ends.

The first one came toward his neck.

He lowered his body, and the claw passed over his hair and broke through the wall behind him.

The second attacked his stomach, and this time the young Vorhelm did not move back, blue-purple lightning covered his entire right arm.

[Thunder Calamity]

His fist hit the arm.

Boom!

The tissue exploded from the middle, and broken bone spun through the air before falling to the ground.

The third and fourth arms came at the same time, Lian turned half a step, his elbow was covered with lightning, and he broke one of them in half.

Another claw passed only a few centimeters from his face, but the fifth arm twisted up from below.

He grabbed it, and his fingers closed around the thin bones.

With one movement...crack!

He tore the arm out from its root, and black liquid splashed onto the ground, Ezrak placed his hands over his chest and watched with excitement.

"Did you see?

Did you see?

I modified this one three times, what do you think?

I made them very well, right?

This place isn’t only the best place to live, it can even protect me!"

"It’s ugly, and not only that, everything you make is ugly, you have no understanding of beauty, do you?

Or is the taste of your civilization naturally this terrible?"

Lian looked at the torn-off arm.

"Rude, what you said really hurt me, even if you’re the last piece I need, that doesn’t mean you can dare insult my child."

Ezrak’s smile immediately disappeared.

Behind Vorhelm, the sound of tearing flesh came.

He turned around to see what was happening, and the arms he had broken were growing again.

White bone first came out through the tissue, then flesh wrapped around it, and gray skin covered it.

All of this took less than ten seconds.

"Of course."

He whispered to himself, and this reminded him of the same creature that this madman had called his masterpiece in the border city.

That damn thing also had an amazing kind of self-healing, to the point that it seemed almost immortal, and now it seemed that Ezrak had applied the same ability to this cave as well.

This profession of making monsters really seemed terrifying, especially if someone could reach the same level of skill as this white-eyed man.

He could understand why the Federation was after him.

At that exact moment, the ground suddenly tilted, it was not that the cave had shaken, but the floor under his feet itself started to rise.

In less than two seconds, the flat surface became a slope of almost forty degrees.

Lian kept his balance, but the ceiling also came down at the same time, and from the right, a crack opened in the wall.

A new hallway appeared, and from the left, the path that had existed before was closed by two thick layers of flesh and bone.

The entire battlefield was changing.

"Do you like this place?"

Ezrak was standing somewhere higher and happily watching him.

Lian gave him a poker face, right now he really wanted to punch that bastard in the face.
