I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents

Chapter 457: Holy Rank Skill II

  • Next Chapter

"The entire Academy only has three skills whose confirmed Evolution Paths can reach Holy Rank." Aldric then pointed at the first container.

The book inside was black, and seven thin silver lines could be seen on its cover.

"Seven Void Steps, a movement skill."

The information on the container lit up.

[Seven Void Steps.]

[Rank: Common (+).]

[Description: At the current stage, it allows you to make several sudden changes in direction over a short distance, without having to completely stop your previous momentum. The higher it goes, the number of steps, distance, and freedom to change direction will increase.]

Lian looked at the book for a few seconds, it was not a bad skill, in fact, it was excellent for most close-range fighters.

But he already had several movement skills, a skill after reaching Holy Rank could definitely become much more useful.

But he felt that he should not waste his reward like this.

"I don’t recommend it to you, from what I’ve seen, you have strong movement skills."

He went to the second container, a white book with golden lines.

[The Indestructible Body.]

[Current Rank: Common (+).]

"It starts by creating a permanent Mana cycle inside the body. It increases resistance, recovery, ability to endure pressure, and the ability to continue fighting. At higher stages, its body regeneration becomes really ridiculous." The Professor explained.

"This one isn’t bad." Lian whispered to himself.

"No, it’s very good, this skill after reaching Holy Rank can give you a body that is practically indestructible for several minutes, even attacks from someone like me would not be able to destroy it, but it is not the best for you." Aldric gave Lian’s body a short look.

"Why?"

"Your body changed enough after the First Evolution that you already naturally have many of the advantages this skill gives at its lower stages. Bones, muscles, joints, ability to take hits...all of them have increased to an abnormal level." His eyes narrowed slightly.

"I don’t know exactly what your Evolution did to you, and you also have that armor, I guess it’s Ancient Rank, right? That armor alone is enough."

Lian said nothing, a body that was indestructible for several minutes? This skill could be very good for someone like Marcus.

Even for himself, it could be useful and could help him when fighting creatures much stronger than himself.

But he waited until he saw the last Holy Rank skill before making his final choice.

They reached the third container, a dark-colored book with the image of a palm on its cover, the image was simple.

But several thin golden lines spread from the center of the palm toward the fingers.

Lian had not asked anything yet when the panel of the container lit up.

[Suppressing Palm.]

[Rank: Common (+).]

"At the initial stage, you compress Mana inside your palm. You can release it together with a real strike, or send it from a distance in the form of a Mana palm." The Professor explained.

"But what makes this skill valuable is not the size of the palm. It is the density. The higher your mastery becomes, the more power you can compress into a smaller space."

"Does Physical Strength also affect it?" Lian looked at the information.

"Yes, this skill can be both a small strike and a very large strike, at Holy Rank its name becomes Heavenly Suppressing Palm, once, you can make a strike that can deal devastating damage and lock all of the opponent’s stats for several seconds to several dozen seconds, depending on the opponent’s strength."

This was exactly suitable for his fighting style.

A skill that could deal both limited damage and wide-range damage, and especially after reaching Holy Rank, it could basically act as a trump card for him.

Especially locking all of his enemy’s stats for several seconds, those few seconds would be enough for him to take down many enemies.

Lian had almost made his decision, he looked at the three books for a few more seconds and then pointed at the third container without hesitation.

"I’ll take this one."

"I thought you would choose this one, besides, I have this skill myself." Aldric did not even raise an eyebrow.

"Really?" He stayed silent for a moment and looked at the book again, then asked.

"Yes, and mine has reached Holy Rank."

"You managed to evolve it all the way?" He asked this question because upgrading a skill to Holy Rank could require thousands of Fragments.

Of course, it was not always like that, there was also a way to obtain a skill directly at Holy Rank, without needing to upgrade it anymore.

But that method required a Level 100 Awakened who had passed through all five Evolutions, this was the same method Seris had used to obtain her Holy Rank skill.

But he doubted that the Professor had used such a method.

"It took years, as you know, having Holy potential does not mean the skill will wake up one morning and become Holy, it needs thousands of Fragments, many people never reach the final stage even though they have such a skill."

The container opened and Aldric took the book out and gave it to Lian.

"That is why choose carefully."

"I think I just chose." Lian took the book, his fingers touched the image of the palm.

Light came out of the cover of the book, the pages started turning without any wind.

And a moment later, the lines separated from the book and entered his hand.

New information appeared in his mind.

The Mana circulation path, how to compress it, the angle of the palm, the moment of transferring the force.

[New Skill Acquired.]

[Suppressing Palm.]

[Rank: Common (+).]

"Can you show me the peak of this skill?" The young Vorhelm looked at the announcement for a few seconds and then turned back to Aldric.

"Of course, but we can’t do it here, come with me." Then they left the place.

Naturally, they went to one of the training areas, a place built exactly for Awakened to practice new skills and reinforced by various Arrays.

In the middle of it, several testing pillars made of a gray and very dense material were placed.

Each one was made to withstand attacks from high-Level Awakened and they did not break that easily.

Aldric stood in front of one of the pillars, and Lian stood several meters behind him with his arms crossed over his chest.

He expected to see something big, considering the name of the skill, maybe a palm tens of meters large that covered half of the yard.

The Professor only raised his right hand, Mana gathered in front of his palm.

At first it was misty and then became denser, the shape of five fingers appeared inside it, a semi-transparent palm almost two meters tall.

"That’s it?" Vorhelm looked at it for a few seconds.

"Size is important for beginners." Aldric said without looking at him and then moved his palm slightly forward.

The palm also moved and went forward.

Click.

It hit the pillar.

Lian waited, but nothing happened, even the pillar had not moved back a single centimeter, and he raised an eyebrow.

"Are you sure it’s Holy Rank?"

"Come closer." The Professor lowered his hand.

He went forward, the outer surface of the pillar was completely fine, even the place where it had been hit could not be seen.

Aldric placed his index finger on the stone.

Crack.

The outer shell of the pillar shook for a moment and then....collapsed.

The intact stone shell folded inward like an empty piece of cloth, and thousands of gray particles fell from inside it onto the ground.

The entire pillar had turned into powder.

Lian’s eyes narrowed slightly, this time there was no joke in his eyes at all, and the Professor moved his foot through the stone powder.

"When you first learn the skill, you will probably make a twenty-meter palm, put half of your Mana into it, and be very happy that you blew up a wall."

"And when you master it? It no longer needs to be big." He picked up some of the stone powder between two fingers.

"Power that is spread everywhere wastes a large amount of itself. Power that is released at one specific point, at one specific time, and with enough density...can destroy the inside of the target without making any noise."

Lian smiled calmly, this skill could be both loud and quiet, and it completely depended on its user.

But the fact that the Professor used the quiet version made him feel that either he did not like noise, or his base Class was an Assassin.

He was satisfied with his choice, he had chosen it mostly because of its Holy version, which could be a trump card.

But upgrading it was not easy, and this reminded him again that he needed to do something about Fragments, and hunting wolf-like monsters seemed to be the only way.

Nearly an hour later, the two separated
