Chapter 523: Chapter 317: Sea of Blood, Bombshell

Without Su Yue’s help, it would have been nearly impossible for Yan Sea to find Zhou Xing so quickly, let alone enter the Celestial Phenomenon Corps’ encampment and interrogate him.

Although he was a Grandmaster who cultivated a Dharma Body, giving him a formidable physique and immense explosive power, his sensory abilities were almost nonexistent.

Su Yue, on the other hand, was a former member of Chongming University’s Celestial Pride Class with an incredibly versatile array of Secret Techniques. Without her assistance, the two of them would never have escaped.

In the process, they were targeted by a rank-8 Elemental Demon. They expended a great deal of effort to slay it, but the price was Su Yue’s grievous injuries.

Now, in Pingsha Ridge, the two of them seemed to have reached a dead end.

With no medical supplies, their strength was greatly diminished. If they were to venture outside without Su Yue to conceal his presence, Yan Sea would be discovered by an Elemental Demon in minutes.

Inside the dim cave, Yan Sea was gaunt and withered, his gaze vacant.

The Buddhist Teachings he had once cultivated had all come to naught, his spirit utterly crushed.

From his perspective, the only good thing he had ever done was take Yu Fei on as a student. Otherwise, his life was a litany of failures. He had even held back and endangered Su Yue. He was inept at accomplishing anything but an expert at ruining everything, dragging down everyone close to him in the process.

When Yu Fei arrived, he saw Yan Sea with a deathly pallor, watching over the gravely injured Su Yue as if they were both just waiting to die.

"Sigh."

He remembered a time when Yan Sea had been full of vigor and pride after his breakthrough to Grandmaster. But now...

Perhaps recognizing Yu Fei’s aura, Yan Sea only stared at him blankly for a moment before becoming still again.

His aura was a chaotic mess. His Buddhist state of mind had been shattered, and the Frenzied Blood Spirit technique was lashing back at him. Normally, this would have driven him into a crazed, demonic frenzy. But Yan Sea’s will to live was so faint, his heart so steeped in desolate sorrow, that even the cultivation technique’s backlash couldn’t stir him. Instead, it was simply dragging him inexorably toward death.

Yu Fei briefly scanned him. ’Yan Sea’s condition is severe. If this goes on, he could just... fade into nothingness. But there’s no rush. This isn’t something I can fix in a moment. A few more days won’t make a difference.’

Su Yue’s condition, however, was more urgent.

What had started as simple external wounds and exhaustion had become critical due to the lack of timely medical resources. If she were left like this for a few more days, Su Yue would almost certainly die.

Yu Fei stepped forward to perform a detailed diagnosis and quickly understood the problem.

Su Yue had used a Secret Technique to suppress her wounds, buying them the chance to escape. But her condition had deteriorated afterward, causing her to fall into a coma and decline steadily.

After tidying up a bit, Yu Fei cleared a flat area and took a Treatment Pod out of his storage space. This was a high-end model he had asked the Shenxiao Corps to procure for him.

In the Yu Kingdom’s martial arts world, the most advanced Treatment Pods could facilitate a full recovery for Martial Artists up to the highest tier of the Grandmaster realm. Healing anyone stronger was extremely difficult. If a Martial Saint was severely injured, they could only rely on their own Cultivation Technique’s properties to self-heal. Yu Fei had over forty sets of various Treatment Pod models in his storage space, all fully stocked with medicinal fluids.

Yu Fei also took out a longan-sized pill—a high-grade elixir called the Wood Rejuvenation Elixir, which he had obtained from Ye Shuping. He mixed it with a medicinal drink and administered it to Su Yue. The elixir was highly effective against most injuries for anyone below the highest tier of the Grandmaster realm. He had a hundred or so of them stocked in his storage space.

After connecting and calibrating the equipment, Yu Fei confirmed everything was working and placed Su Yue inside. Various monitoring lines were now attached to her body, and her vital signs were displayed on the pod’s screen.

Watching the various metrics appear on the screen, Yu Fei followed standard procedure, selecting the appropriate medicinal fluid to be administered.

These were all standard-issue fluids. Their effects were slow, but their properties were gentle. The worst-case scenario was that they would simply be ineffective, not cause any secondary harm.

Treating high-level Martial Artists was more complicated. For those at the Gang Qi level or below, you hardly needed to diagnose conventional injuries—just stick them in the pod and pump in the universal repair fluid, much like how he had treated himself in the Savage Beast Sea-Forest.

But for something like reattaching a severed limb, one would have to return to the home planet and rely on professional medical personnel to devise a treatment plan.

Yu Fei wasn’t a professional medic, but Su Yue’s injuries weren’t complex—their severity was simply a result of being left untreated for too long. The treatment itself wasn’t difficult.

BEEP...

A monitoring light on the display turned green, indicating that the pod was operating normally.

The biggest difference in this newer-model Healing Pod was its use of an Elemental Energy Converter, which solved the power supply issue.

Conventional electrical or chemical power sources couldn’t be used in the Junction Realm, but the new Elemental Energy Converter developed by Tianwen University could.

Without this device to provide a simple damage assessment and diagnostic recommendations, Yu Fei would have had to rely solely on his own experience, and the results would have been less effective.

Sensing that Su Yue’s condition was no longer deteriorating, Yu Fei breathed a sigh of relief and turned his attention to Yan Sea, whose life force was as faint as a dying ember.

’This is going to be tricky.’

Yan Sea’s condition was indeed thorny, with the root of the problem lying in his personal history and personality.

Imagine a Martial Artist who started as an orphan. He went through the Yu Kingdom’s basic compulsory education, later showing some talent for martial arts. Though not exceptional, it was enough to get him into an ordinary Martial Arts University. Through diligent, day-in-day-out cultivation, he earned an offer to become a common soldier in a Class-A corps. But somewhere along the way, he was selected and groomed by the demonic cultivator Sima Hong.

And so, Yan Sea was muddle-headedly brainwashed and trained, practicing a demonic Cultivation Technique without even realizing it.

His reclusive personality and diligent nature allowed him to make lightning-fast progress in cultivating the Frenzied Blood Spirit. But just as he was about to reach the pinnacle of his life, Sima Hong and his puppets were all wiped out. Yan Sea was likely caught in the fallout and grievously wounded.

Perhaps whoever did the cleanup realized Yan Sea himself was not truly at fault and spared him. Logically, he could have sought help from the military to heal his wounds. He might have been able to step out of the shadows and move on.
