Chapter 480: Chapter 296: Spirit Weapon Zhanming, Mass-Energy Conversion

Zhuo Feiming scoffed. "Have you seen how packed this city is?"

As she spoke, she finished processing the last of the materials and beckoned to Yu Fei.

"Come on, come with me to the storage room."

Zhuo Feiming was eagerly anticipating the food supplies Yu Fei could provide. The moment her work was done, she impatiently led him off to retrieve them.

She dismissed the others and personally stored the ingredients Yu Fei produced. They filled three entire warehouses, while the portion Yu Fei had set aside for her was stored separately.

It was best not to flaunt one’s space ability, so Zhuo Feiming put up a bit of a front to hide it, though Yu Fei suspected her attempts at concealment were probably useless.

His path to becoming a Grandmaster was largely secured. With his heaven-defying space ability, Yu Fei was gradually becoming less concerned about it.

During this time, he was concerned about his teacher, Yan Sea, and wondered if he could see him. However, Zhuo Feiming told him that Yan Sea was no longer in the Sky-Palace Ruins.

"Yan Sea has returned to the legion’s garrison on the mother star. Due to the unique nature of the Sky-Palace Ruins, I only brought 100 Grandmasters and 300 Gang Qi Warriors for the cleanup mission this time."

"This place has a harsh environment. Martial Artists below the Gang Qi realm have very poor resistance. If they get injured in the field, it’s easy for the extra-normal radiation to corrode them, leaving permanent damage. There’s no need for that kind of risk."

"Come on, I’ve finished upgrading your Zhan Ming. I can give it to you now!"

As they walked, Zhuo Feiming held a large handful of semi-prepared skewers that were already well-marinated.

With a casual wave of her hand, the skewers were seared by an intense heat, releasing a rich, meaty aroma.

She ate with incredible speed. As soon as she finished one handful, Yu Fei would hand her another. Her red lips seemed like a bottomless pit.

’Since Yan Sea is no longer here, Ye Shuping’s arrangements must have already taken effect.’

This realization came from the new "Destined Trajectory" effect, a result of upgrading his Insight ability.

’Yu Fei sensed that Ye Shuping had definitely plotted something regarding Teacher Yan Sea’s transfer, but he couldn’t imagine what Ye Shuping’s goal might be. Besides, it wasn’t convenient to investigate.’

’He guessed that Miss Zhuo was likely unaware of the old man’s plans. In this matter, Zhuo Feiming was just an unwitting pawn.’

’The old man’s machinations left no trace, like an antelope hanging by its horns.’

’If not for the alert from his Destined Trajectory ability, Yu Fei would have been completely in the dark.’

’Fortunately, the feedback from the ability indicated that this affair was merely troublesome, not harmful to him. Yu Fei decided to wait and see how things unfolded. He could use this as a test case to assess the tangible effects of his Destined Trajectory ability.’

After a leisurely ten-minute stroll, the skewers in Zhuo Feiming’s hands had been replaced by a piece of honey-melon, a specialty from the Beastial Wilds.

Yu Fei took out a chilled honey-melon. An invisible wave of Sword Qi sliced it into perfectly-sized chunks. Miss Zhuo went at it with both hands, eating joyfully.

’Even with her mouth stuffed, she could still speak clearly. Martial Saints truly were incredible.’

"I’ve adjusted Zhan Ming’s form. Back when you were still in the Inner Qi realm, you didn’t have the potential you have today. The sword just looked decent, so it relied on the might of a greatsword to increase its killing power."

"In combat at the Grandmaster level and above, techniques are about intent, not brute force. The extra weight is unnecessary and only makes the mass-energy conversion more difficult."

"But I got my hands on a lot of precious metals from my teacher. Zhan Ming’s current form is more like a longsword now—a true longsword."

Zhuo Feiming led Yu Fei through three security checkpoints and into another laboratory.

The moment he stepped inside, Yu Fei sensed a familiar, connected aura.

"SHIING!"

A crisp sword-song rang out. Before him, a lethal blade, ink-blue in color, floated above a sword pedestal, emanating unrestrained wisps of killing intent.

’This was Zhan Ming.’

Their auras were linked; Yu Fei was absolutely certain.

This blade of slaughter, his constant companion, had been completely slimmed down. The body of the sword was now only two inches wide, while its hilt was a foot and a half long. In contrast, the blade itself was over 1.5 meters in length.

Yu Fei extended his hand. Zhan Ming vanished in an instant, only to reappear abruptly in his grasp.

A look of stunned admiration crossed Zhuo Feiming’s face. As its forger, she knew better than anyone the sheer degree of innate spirituality this sword possessed.

Zhan Ming’s current behavior confirmed her suspicions. During its second refinement, the Spirit Weapon had been forged with nothing but the most premium materials. Its own spirituality had undergone another evolution, allowing it to inherit some of Yu Fei’s own traits.

In terms of potential, this sword was capable of growing alongside Yu Fei all the way to the Martial Saint realm.

Yu Fei gripped Zhan Ming, continuously pouring his own vast Gang Qi into it. The ink-blue blade flared with a brilliant light, radiating a peerless edge.

He swung the sword lightly. He himself hadn’t moved, and the hilt was still in his hand, yet the tip of the blade bizarrely appeared a hundred meters away.

The sword had the ability to pierce through space. Though the blade was only 1.5 meters long, its reach was a full hundred meters.

’What a bizarre ability!’

Yu Fei was ecstatic. He immediately pierced his palm, smearing his essence blood across the blade. The fiery red blood was absorbed in an instant, vanishing from sight.

Suddenly, Zhan Ming let out a clear, melodious sword-song. It vanished from his hand and flew directly into his Qi Sea.

Yu Fei immediately sat down cross-legged. This was so sudden. He never thought his affinity with Zhan Ming would be this high—they had already reached the stage of mass-energy conversion.

Zhuo Feiming reacted in a flash. She issued several commands on her Elemental Energy Communicator, sealed all the laboratory doors, and took up a guard position by Yu Fei’s side.

’She hadn’t expected this either.’

Normally, achieving mass-energy conversion—the stage where a Spirit Weapon merges with the body—required a very long period of nurturing.
