Chapter 422: Chapter 267: Daily Life
Yu Fei’s incredibly direct confession overjoyed Li Mengyao. She could hardly believe her ears.
In Li Mengyao’s eyes, Yu Fei was a classic player type—he never initiated, but he never refused, either. This had been a great source of distress for her, especially after his martial arts cultivation skyrocketed. She became increasingly aware of the vast gap between them.
She had thought she might miss her chance with him in this lifetime. Yu Fei was too outstanding, and she was too ordinary. Back in high school, she had watched his cultivation progress by leaps and bounds. She had tried so hard to keep up, but he remained far beyond her reach.
She had assumed it was just an unrequited crush, one that would probably never amount to anything.
But then, at a critical moment, Yu Fei had given her a Vitality Elixir. Later, he had tutored her in her cultivation at the Aurora Martial Arts Hall, helping her, step by step, to get into Shenhan University—a height she could never have reached on her own.
’That liar told me to major in pharmacology, saying it was to help his cultivation. But after I got into Shenhan, the guy gave me a bunch of merit points and would flirt with me occasionally, but he never showed his face, never initiated anything, and never got in touch. What kind of help was that?’
Li Mengyao’s emotions were a rollercoaster. After chatting with Yu Fei for a bit, she would feel like she had a chance again. But then ten days or two weeks would pass with no word from him, and she’d start to suspect he had already found someone more suitable.
Plagued by this constant anxiety, Li Mengyao was in utter agony.
Hearing Yu Fei’s words, Li Mengyao snapped her head up and stared at him, her gaze fervent and filled with anticipation. She didn’t even glance at the gemstone necklace he held out. For a moment, the world seemed to roar in her ears, everything blurring around her.
She couldn’t stop herself from asking, "You..."
And then she heard the very confession she had dreamed of countless times.
Yu Fei’s voice was low and serious.
"Yes. I like you!"
Immense joy swelled from the bottom of her heart, making her blood race and her head spin. She had fantasized that she would be more reserved, or maybe test him a little like the heroines in stories. But when she heard Yu Fei’s confession for real, she couldn’t stop the tears from streaming down her face.
"You jerk, why didn’t you say so sooner!"
Her voice thick with tears, Li Mengyao spun around and threw her arms around Yu Fei, her embrace forceful and decisive.
Yu Fei heard Li Mengyao’s trembling voice. "Do you have any idea how much I like you, Yu Fei? From morning to night, from high school until now, from the moment I wake until I’m dreaming, you’re all I ever think about!"
"Do you know? You’re like a drug. Sometimes I wish I could get far away from you, even lose my memory, but I just can’t bear to!"
"Yu Fei, liking someone can make you feel so pathetic... Yu Fei, you can’t ignore me anymore! Don’t you dare leave me!"
Yu Fei froze, feeling the girl in his arms holding on with all her might.
He had known Li Mengyao might have feelings for him, but he’d never imagined they were this intense.
It was as if a long-held lovesickness had been cured in an instant.
Li Mengyao was in a state of great emotional turmoil. Only after a long embrace did she finally calm down.
The girl in his arms was soft and carried a unique, clean scent, almost like a baby’s. Her chest was ample, and her skin felt supple.
"This is all your fault! My makeup is ruined!"
Li Mengyao chided playfully. After a quick touch-up, the two of them began to wander aimlessly around the vast campus.
As they walked, Li Mengyao showed him many places, and Yu Fei discovered that quite a few upperclassmen had set up stalls around the school.
Some sold small, handmade items or trinkets crafted from exotic materials. Others had set up food stalls, frying and selling Spiritual Food.
This, perhaps, was the reality for most Martial Artists. Even though they were enrolled in one of the seven great universities, they were only slightly better off than the average Martial Artist. They could receive a better education and had access to more valuable legacies and opportunities, but resources were still incredibly scarce. They were stronger than ordinary Martial Artists, but only by a limited margin.
Not everyone could persevere on the path of martial arts. Even reaching the Inner Qi Realm was a distant, unattainable dream for most, to say nothing of becoming a Grandmaster.
Around noon, Yu Fei took her to a well-known restaurant on campus. Both the flavor and the quality of the ingredients were top-notch, comparable to what Xiaohai could prepare.
After spending the day together like this, they were no different from any other couple, each enjoying the other’s company.
As evening fell, after they had been strolling for a long time, Li Mengyao finally said hesitantly, "I... I should be heading back!"
Yu Fei pulled Li Mengyao into an embrace and, without a word, kissed her deeply.
The young woman’s body stiffened for a moment before she relaxed into it, awkwardly starting to kiss him back.
When their lips finally parted after a long moment, Li Mengyao’s eyes were glazed over. Yu Fei, for his part, felt an uncontrollable stiffness.
He leaned down and whispered softly in Li Mengyao’s ear, "Why don’t I take you to see my cat? The one in my dorm can talk."
The implication was obvious. She wasn’t a child; of course she knew what Yu Fei meant. Feigning reluctance, she agreed.
"Really? That’s amazing! I don’t believe you."
"Let’s go see!"
"Alright!"
Yu Fei swept Li Mengyao into his arms, carrying her by the waist. He activated his Perfection-level Celestial Star Travel Body, and in an instant, they arrived at the entrance to the Geometric Pyramid Realm.
If not for Li Mengyao’s fragile body, he would have used Burning Void Escape to get there in a single step.
"Welcome, great lady!"
The moment she entered the room, she discovered a little black creature that could speak human words.
Just a moment ago, Yu Fei had added Li Mengyao’s access permissions to the Geometric Pyramid Realm, second only to his own.
"It’s so magical! It can really talk!"
Li Mengyao had thought it was just an excuse from Yu Fei, but she discovered that this little black cat, with a spiritual glint in its eyes, could actually speak!
Shocked, she stepped forward to pet it, but her jade-like fingers passed straight through the hologram. The little black creature dissolved into motes of light and reappeared in another spot.
