Chapter 390: Chapter 251: Red Sun Realm

Although Song Cheng’s tone remained normal when he mentioned the Inspectorate, Yu Fei keenly sensed the old Grandmaster’s displeasure.

Yu Fei wanted to ask for more details, but Song Cheng steered the conversation away in just a few sentences, so he couldn’t very well press the issue.

After delivering the suspects to Ghost Stone Prison, Song Cheng showed him around and explained the whole process.

Ghost Stone Prison was part of the Jingshan Provincial Prison system and was built underground.

As Yu Fei toured the facility, he found its defenses to be extremely tight.

Ghost Stone Prison incarcerated suspects on different levels corresponding to their cultivation realms.

Afterward, Yu Fei observed the interrogation process for common suspects.

Interrogations were divided into four levels based on the Martial Artist’s realm. Second and Third Realm Inner Qi Martial Artists who had not yet grasped any divine intent techniques were the lowest, subject to a Level One interrogation.

Divine intent Martial Artists were subject to Level Two, Gang Qi Martial Artists to Level Three, and Grandmasters and above to Level Four.

Song Cheng explained, "Before a Martial Artist grasps divine intent, it’s difficult for them to conceal their divine soul’s fluctuations. If you’ve mastered certain Divine Soul Skills, you can tell whether they’re lying, which makes it the best way to judge them."

"But once they reach the Five Realms Divine Intent, a Martial Artist naturally possesses the ability to resist Divine Soul Skills. At that stage, things become difficult to handle, so you must be extremely cautious."

"For those we really can’t handle, or for cases involving Grandmasters and above, we ask the Inspectorate to intervene!"

Yu Fei understood. This method of judging cases was very much in line with the nature of the martial arts world. Pursuing a complete chain of evidence was impossible. If you were a suspect caught at the scene, you were likely in the clear as long as you could withstand the mental interrogation.

He thought, ’But this system could easily lead to wrongful convictions or misjudgments by the interrogators.’

Yet, Song Cheng hadn’t mentioned this at all. One could imagine there was significant room for manipulation within the system.

Yu Fei didn’t ask any more questions. A system that had been in place and running stably for many years might have its flaws, but it was best not to challenge it rashly without the means and power to offer a solution.

’I’ll keep all the problems I’m encountering now in mind. When I’m weak, I’ll focus on myself and just stay alive. When I’m strong, I’ll change the world and do as I please!’

’A man does what his abilities allow.’

Yu Fei didn’t linger. He politely declined Song Cheng’s hospitality and immediately returned to Shenhan University.

There was no time to slack off in his cultivation.

In the Great Hall of Returning to Truth, Yu Fei and Ye Shuping sat facing each other. After more than half a year of interactions, the two had become quite familiar. Their trust had deepened significantly, especially after Yu Fei had acquired his spatial talent and traded for a large amount of jade resources with Ye Shuping’s help.

Without waiting for Ye Shuping to speak, Yu Fei picked up his teacup and chugged its contents. The sight made the old man’s brow furrow, and he looked as though he wanted to say something but held his tongue.

After closing his eyes to digest the benefits, Yu Fei got straight to the point.

"Professor, is there a way to speed up my absorption of the Violet Qi from the East?"

It couldn’t be helped. Under normal circumstances, it would have been impossible for Yu Fei to cultivate the Melt Gold Jade Body Skill to Major Completion so quickly. However, the opportunity he’d gained from the Golden Stone Gang Realm was simply too immense, and it had caused the cultivation of his Yang Fire to fall behind his resource acquisition.

Ye Shuping pondered for a moment. The Yu Kingdom had discovered a great many entrances to border-realms of varying sizes. Excluding the forbidden and dead realms, there were well over a hundred that could be explored.

Some of these were controlled by the Seven Great Powers, others by different Martial Saint organizations. There were jointly developed resource-realms, large-scale war-realms—the list went on and on.

The resource Yu Fei needed was a very obscure type within the yang-attribute category, so even Ye Shuping had to think for a moment.

It couldn’t be helped. Very few resources were effective for refining the Violet Qi from the East, and there was little research on the subject.

What’s more, Yu Fei needed a resource that was both fast-acting and safe, which made the search even more difficult.

"Hold on, let me look something up."

As he spoke, Ye Shuping surprisingly took out a pair of virtual glasses that looked like old-fashioned reading glasses, put them on, and connected to the network to search for information.

"This..."

’Yu Fei was genuinely surprised. So there was something that could stump the old professor after all. He remembered how easily Ye Shuping had recommended the Golden Crow Radiance Dew, and that stuff hadn’t even been that expensive.’

’He had been planning to ask if there was a higher-grade, superior version of that resource.’

Seeing the old professor working so intently, Yu Fei didn’t disturb him and just kept pouring and drinking tea.

Today’s tea had brewed to a bright red color, yet it was exceptionally clear.

It felt like a flame searing through his limbs and torso as it went down. He keenly perceived that the feeling of heaviness in his body, caused by absorbing too many gold and jade properties, was softening under this fiery burn.

This was a physical sensation, but its tangible effect was that Yu Fei’s body felt much lighter.

About an hour later, Yu Fei’s stomach was bulging. He had already brewed and finished two pots of the tea by himself. Apparently, this stuff was very high-grade and not so easy to digest; his stomach currently felt like a furnace.

He felt like he was being roasted from the inside out, and steam was continuously rising from the top of his head.

Ye Shuping opened his eyes just in time to see this.

He sighed helplessly.

’This kid really has none of the grace of a prodigy!’

He then poured himself some tea, but after a single sip, he spat it out. Looking at the now pale red liquid, his anger flared.

’If you’re going to freeload, at least leave a damn mouthful for me!’

’If Tang Lihui were here, Xiaohui would never have touched it without my permission!’

’Of all his students, only Tang Lihui was the most respectful and upstanding. A shame he was just too weak. He insisted on pursuing that nonsense about "entering the literary path through martial arts and carrying the Dao through literature."’

’Martial Artists are people of slaughter, deciding life and death in an instant. Nothing more than brutes.’

’But no, he had to put on airs and become some kind of philosophical hodgepodge.’

"Hm? Professor, did you find something?"

Having digested some of the energy, Yu Fei opened his eyes to find Ye Shuping staring at him, his face devoid of expression.
