Chapter 332 - 222: Torrent of Sword Qi
Chapter 332: Chapter 222: Torrent of Sword Qi
A dense torrent of Sword Qi descended like a heavenly flood, devouring the ferocious Spider Demon Corps. The bodies of countless blade demons exploded and vanished. The entire scene was like something from a dream.
Feng Bo was a man of the world. On the battlefields of Abyss, where war had raged for a century, even fights between Grandmasters were a common sight.
A Grandmaster’s techniques were devastatingly powerful, their attacks capable of shattering mountains and splitting the earth. The residual Qi Jin alone could annihilate any being on this battlefield.
But this black-armored youth was only at the Fourth Realm. His Sword Qi hadn’t even manifested a spiritual form, yet he could unleash such a brilliant and precise flood of it with absolutely no wasted energy. It was nothing short of a miracle.
Never mind someone at the Fifth Realm; even a Gang Qi Martial Artist couldn’t have accomplished this.
The black-armored youth stood with his sword, his battle robe as scarlet as blood. Emblazoned upon it, the bold and heroic word ’God’ billowed in the wind.
’God... He’s truly godlike...’
The primary traits of the All Things Return to Origin Scripture were its immense and tyrannical Inner Qi. Yu Fei, having cultivated it to the third level—Vast as the Sea—possessed Inner Qi reserves that were first-class among Martial Artists of his realm.
Having now consumed half of his Inner Qi and poured it all into his Immeasurable Sword Qi technique, he had unleashed far more than ten thousand streams of Sword Qi in an instant!
Yu Fei combined his fifteen-times-normal neural reaction speed with his formidable Spiritual Power to roughly direct the Sword Qi at every blade demon and shadow demon. Though he could no longer pierce their skulls with the same precision as before, the demons simply melted away under the immense volume of Sword Qi, like snow under the spring sun.
As innumerable streams of Sword Qi flashed by, the menacing 6th-rank Spider Demon Corps was instantly cleared, leaving only the massive, bewildered Spider Demon behind.
Yu Fei’s assault didn’t pause. He charged the Spider Demon, leading the remaining thousand-plus streams of Sword Qi. In mid-air, he pointed his longsword, and the dense barrage of Immeasurable Sword Qi rained down on the Spider Demon’s massive frame like a meteor shower.
At this critical juncture, the Spider Demon let out a deafening shriek as a brilliant fiery light erupted from its body, forming a protective barrier of flames.
The crimson patterns on its body began to glow like molten lava; it had clearly recognized the peril.
The defensive power of this crimson shield was immense. When the Sword Qi struck it, it was like rain hitting a furnace, and each stream was instantly vaporized.
Seeing this, Yu Fei hardened his resolve. He drew upon most of his remaining Inner Qi—which was already less than ten percent of his total—and formed several hundred streams of eerie blue Sword Qi to attack the Spider Demon again.
This time, he chose water-elemental Sword Qi and imbued it with a space-piercing property.
When he activated his Immeasurable Sword Qi without choosing an element, it would naturally produce a greater quantity of mottled Sword Qi with mixed attributes. However, if he specified an element, the activation would be slower and consume extra Inner Qi.
Since the Spider Demon was preoccupied with defense, Yu Fei opted for a targeted strike using an opposing element. The creature was fire-elemental, so he chose to attack with water-elemental Sword Qi.
This was the first time he had ever imbued so many streams of Sword Qi with his Sword Intent. The instantaneous drain on his Spiritual Power caused the veins on his forehead to bulge. Yu Fei felt an excruciating pain, as if his very nerves were being stretched to their limit.
He gritted his teeth and unleashed all of the Sword Qi at the Spider Demon.
The Sword Qi was cold and ominous. Sensing a threat from the opposing element, the Spider Demon roared, and its crimson shield flared, becoming even stronger. The azure Sword Qi pulsed with killing intent, and the demon sensed a mortal danger.
In an instant, the Sword Qi reached the shield. The Spider Demon watched it disappear, but before it could feel a moment of relief, it saw one of the streams bizarrely pierce through the shield and continue onward.
This was no fluke. Immediately after, all several hundred streams of water-elemental Sword Qi ignored the Spider Demon’s defenses, stabbing densely at vital points all over its body.
At this life-or-death juncture, the Spider Demon could no longer afford to fully maintain its shield. It furiously swung its greatshield and long saber, deflecting countless streams of Sword Qi. But it was too late. The moment its shield flickered out of existence, the remaining Sword Qi from the initial barrage joined the assault.
In an instant, the Spider Demon was peppered by the dense Sword Qi. Countless holes were punched through its massive body, and foul, greenish-red blood gushed out like a waterfall.
It couldn’t fathom why its defenses had failed, but there was no time for such thoughts in the heat of battle.
When the Sword Qi finally dissipated, the 6th-rank Spider Demon was, incredibly, still alive. Only two of its six arms remained, not a single part of its body was unharmed, and the fiery patterns on its skin had dimmed to a faint glow, threatening to go out at any moment.
’But it’s still alive. What terrifying vitality!’
Yu Fei, however, was in terrible condition. His Qi Sea was unprecedentedly empty. More importantly, to guarantee the result, he had not only imbued an enormous amount of Sword Qi with Sword Intent but had also added every possible enhancing property he could. The consequence was a massive, instantaneous drain on his Spiritual Power.
Furthermore, to ensure their accuracy, he had pushed himself to the limit to control the attack trajectory of every single stream.
Now, his head was splitting with pain, and his vision swam.
’But this Spider Demon still isn’t dead!’
"Die!"
A trickle of blood seeped from the corner of Yu Fei’s eye. With a savage expression, he raised Zhanming and brought it crashing down on the Spider Demon’s head!
"CRASH!"
The Spider Demon was severely wounded, with less than a tenth of its strength remaining. It struggled desperately to block Yu Fei’s attack.
With the first sword strike, the powered firearm it used to parry was shattered!
With the second, its middle right arm, the one holding the long saber, was severed!
Yu Fei let out a furious roar, channeling his remaining strength into both hands. Zhanming lit up with an azure edge as he swung it furiously at the Spider Demon’s head.
"Die!"
The massive Spider Demon’s head flew into the air, a final flicker of defiance in its eyes. Before it could even land, it dissolved in mid-air, turning into a cloud of acrid gas.
Its enormous body melted away like ice and snow. With nothing left to brace against, Yu Fei collapsed, crashing heavily to the ground.
Zhanming plunged into the corpse-strewn earth. He knelt on one knee, gasping for breath. That final burst of power had drained nearly every last drop of his Inner Qi and Spiritual Power. Now, he felt utterly hollow, his head spinning with intense, blinding pain.
This feeling was just like when he was first practicing the Green Lotus Sword Nourishing Skill, when his spirit had been shredded by the Sword Intent left behind by Sima.
Yu Fei’s face was impassive. He had grown accustomed to this level of spiritual agony back when he was still in the First Realm. He slowly got to his feet and hoisted Zhanming onto his shoulder.
On the vast battlefield, a clear patch of ground had opened up before him. The 6th-rank Spider Demon Corps had been annihilated so quickly that the next wave of demons hadn’t even had time to advance.
"He... actually won..."
Feng Bo was completely aghast, his forward charge grinding to a halt.
’What a... frightening young man. A truly terrifying prodigy!’
Defeating an entire 6th-rank Spider Demon Corps as a Fourth-Realm cultivator... in all his years on the battlefield, he had never even heard of such a feat.
Among the prodigies of the Seven Greats, he had heard of a few S-rank talents who could take down a Spider Demon Corps a full realm above their own. Even those individuals were exceedingly rare, and any who survived to maturity inevitably became towering figures.
But to do so across a two-realm gap? That was something he had never even heard of!
’An absolute monster!’
At that moment, a silver flash streaked across the battlefield, carving a path straight toward Yu Fei. Its blade moved like a bolt of white lightning, slaying countless demons. Nothing could withstand a single one of its strikes.
After receiving a warning from the Spirit Fox through their mental link, Feng Hua had feared the worst for Yu Fei and immediately charged over.
"Are you alright?"
Feng Hua asked with concern, her eyes fixed on Yu Fei’s pale face.
’She was completely stunned. With her current power, she could also destroy a 6th-rank Spider Demon Corps if she used all her trump cards. But she was in the Fifth Realm, and Yu Fei was only in the Fourth!’
’Compared to their last military exercise, Yu Fei’s power had obviously taken a massive leap. The last time they’d clashed, his bizarre Sword Qi abilities hadn’t been nearly this numerous.’
’But slaughtering a 6th-rank Spider Demon Corps as a Fourth-Realm cultivator had clearly taken a heavy toll, as she could tell from his feeble aura.’
Warm sunlight bathed Yu Fei’s body. The Yang Qi of the world was continuously absorbed and refined by his starved system, and a shallow layer of Inner Qi had already begun to pool in his Qi Sea.
’He wasn’t sure if he was imagining it, but it seemed his recovery rate had quickened slightly after this massive drain of Inner Qi. It looked like the All Things Return to Origin Scripture still had some hidden properties left for him to discover.’
He looked at Feng Hua standing guard in front of him, and a warmth bloomed in his chest. A crimson, blood-like flame flickered around her body. He recognized it as the last-resort technique she had only unleashed the last time she was fighting for her life.
Clearly, she had thrown all caution to the wind to rush to his aid.
"I’m fine. Thank you!"
Feng Hua glanced at him and said with a touch of chagrin:
