Chapter 303: Chapter 208: Battle

The discussion in the mental network continued.

Zhang Hu: "Feng Hua probably got screwed over. This freshman’s abilities are extremely specialized. He’s got a top-tier recon and sniper skillset. If we’re not careful, we could easily get wiped."

Qingshan: "So we have to stay steady. We need to try and take him out in one go. Otherwise, our entire year will be nailed to the pillar of shame!"

Gao Nianzhen: "There was nothing we could do. Who could have expected it? By the way, Yun Jing, how did you find him? My perception Secret Technique was completely useless."

Yun Jing: "The kid is good at hiding, but he’s still a bit green. He doesn’t know how to erase his tracks—footprints, scent, disturbed vegetation. I was able to deduce his location from all that..."

Zhang Hu: "Gao, look at Yun Jing. You’re just not skilled enough..."

Gao Nianzhen was filled with doubt. ’Was it really that simple?’ He had investigated carefully last night. The surrounding environment hadn’t changed at all. Besides, finding anomalies in the environment was a required course for any perception-type Martial Artist.

’I can’t be that bad, can I?’

But since Yun Jing said so, Gao Nianzhen didn’t argue. She had been able to track him, and he hadn’t. That meant he was just worse.

Qingshan: "All right. Later, have Nianzhen sneak in with the other support-types. If you combine your perceptions, you might be able to catch this kid."

Zhang Hu: "Once you find him, don’t alert him. Wait for me to set up an ambush. We’ll trap a turtle in a jar and make sure he can’t escape even if he grows wings!"

Qingshan: "Do it!"

The sun was high in the sky. Yu Fei silently finished infusing all his bullets with energy. In his [Insight] perception, malice surged toward him like a tidal wave.

He realized that stopping had been a mistake. He had thought that if he stopped, his pursuers would lose his trail and leave.

He never expected that long-legged support-type Martial Artist would be able to pinpoint his general location, putting him in a difficult situation.

’Well then, let’s fight!’

In the distance, Yun Jing was heavily guarded. He had no opportunity to make a move.

Yu Fei released three false forms to hide in the surroundings and decisively placed his crosshairs on the seniors searching in the distance!

BOOM! BOOM...!

Qingshan frowned. ’Gao Nianzhen is still on his way. Why did the kid lose his patience and attack first?’

The distance was too short and Yu Fei’s attack too sudden. Thanks to his fifteen-fold neural reaction speed, he still managed to claim four heads. Immediately after, he was riddled with a dense barrage of bullets. He quickly swapped places with the false form to his right just as the bluestone beneath it was pulverized into dust.

"Brothers, surround the kid!"

Meanwhile, Qingshan’s urgent command rang out in the mental network, "Zhang Hu, forget the ambush! The kid just revealed himself! Get over here and let’s take him down together!"

Seeing Yu Fei take the initiative to attack, Gao Nianzhen quickly regrouped with Yun Jing. By combining their efforts, the two of them finally pinpointed his location.

Suddenly, Yu Fei’s figure was exposed to the eyes of numerous sophomores. Grinning maliciously, they raised their super-powered firearms and fired a shot at the target marked in their vision.

When Zhang Hu finally arrived, he was greeted by Qingshan’s punchable voice.

"Hey, what happened to your left hand? Jerk it ’til it broke?"

"Fuck you! The kid sniped me last night. My arm got hit."

Qingshan’s lips twisted into a disdainful, mocking smile. "Scrub. You still have to rely on me!"

Zhang Hu leveled his Dragon Sparrow Greatsaber. "Watch your mouth, or I’ll shut it for you!"

"Anyway, we finally managed to flush the kid out. How does a freshman like him even train? With his skills, he’d be one of the top members of our team!"

Qingshan blew a perfect 360-degree smoke ring, using no Inner Qi, only pure skill. Then he spoke with a hint of melancholy.

"There are always people in this world who can’t be measured by common sense. You and I are considered somebody, but do you remember Lu Bufan?"

Hearing that name, a shadow passed over Zhang Hu’s eyes.

"Of course. How could I forget?"

Their year had produced someone who truly dominated his generation. The last time they met, he had faced an alien Grandmaster on the battlefield with the body of a fifth-realm cultivator and remained undefeated!

The one they call Tianwen, Lu Bufan, is unmatched in his generation!

The gap between one prodigy and another is even more despairing.

Qingshan clapped a hand on Zhang Hu’s shoulder and said with a chuckle, "I, for one, am looking forward to the day this kid runs into Lu Bufan!"

Zhang Hu looked astonished. "Are you saying this kid has the same kind of potential as Lu Bufan?"

Qingshan jutted his chin. "Well, isn’t it obvious? Dozens of guns can’t take him down. You have to remember, we’re sophomores. If you put Emperor Bufan from last year in that situation, he might not have even lasted this long."

Zhang Hu watched Yu Fei on the battlefield. Perhaps realizing that stealth was useless, he had finally dropped his concealment and revealed his true appearance.

Yu Fei was currently busy dodging. He had tossed aside his sniper rifle and was relying solely on the greatsword in his hand. His body weaved left and right, evading the vast majority of bullets. When one was unavoidable, he would raise his greatsword with a CLANG, emerging completely unscathed.

As time went on, Zhang Hu noticed that the kid was actually adapting to the rhythm of their fire. His evasive movements became smaller, and he even began to look composed and unhurried.

On their side, however, after firing so many times, their supply of super-powered bullets was starting to run low, and the interval between shots grew longer and longer!

To be honest, putting aside his actual strength for a moment, the freshman’s presence was already far superior to Emperor Bufan’s!

The so-called "Emperor Bufan" was a nickname their year had for Lu Bufan, an acknowledgment of his power. If Lu Bufan truly ascended to the rank of Martial Saint one day, he would become a true emperor.

Zhang Hu rubbed his shiny, bald head and said resentfully:

"You know, I can stomach their talent in cultivation. But why do all these guys have to look so good and have such great charisma too? Have they hogged all the good things in the world for themselves?"
