Chapter 257: Chapter 185: Xia Lan’s Shock, Cultivation Technique Perfected
Yu Fei didn’t dare to resist. A soft warmth pressed against his left cheek. If he moved too violently, his head would probably be buried right in it.
Xia Lan grabbed the Osprey’s stock with her left hand and gave it a light shake. Light flowed between her fingers, and in an instant, the Osprey collapsed into a pile of parts on the ground. Then, her hands danced like butterflies, and a complete Osprey was assembled once more. The entire process of disassembly and reassembly took no more than two seconds. The 168kg super-energy firearm was truly like a little toy in her hands.
As Xia Lan’s right hand let go, Yu Fei could finally breathe again.
"Did you see that clearly? Disassembling and assembling super-energy firearms is a simple matter for you!"
Yu Fei nodded. "I saw it clearly!"
"Oh?" Xia Lan was a little skeptical. Although these were basic skills, reaching her level required relentless practice—tens of thousands of tedious repetitions to achieve her current results.
Moreover, she was in the Gang Qi Realm. The skill she had honed in such close quarters had been practiced for who knows how long. Even an Inner Qi Martial Artist wouldn’t be able to see the specific details of her movements. How could Yu Fei possibly have seen it clearly?
Xia Lan immediately let go of Yu Fei. Even if he was a top-tier prodigy, she disliked people who bragged. The warmth vanished from her expression.
She tossed the Osprey in front of Yu Fei. "Here. If you saw it so clearly, give it a try!"
With that, she crossed her arms, which were full to overflowing.
Yu Fei was a little bewildered. Mrs. Xia had been so enthusiastic just a moment ago, warm as a small lightbulb, but she had suddenly turned into a small fan, blowing cold air.
Although the instructor’s movements had been extremely fast, with his fifteen-times-normal nerve response speed, Yu Fei had easily seen every detail. Seeing a chance to try it himself, he stepped forward and began to disassemble the Osprey.
After a moment of recollection, Yu Fei replicated Xia Lan’s movements perfectly. With the dual enhancement of Fleeting Moment and Electric Arm, he accurately and quickly completed the firearm’s disassembly. The entire process took about three seconds.
Xia Lan’s mouth fell open in astonishment. This was incredible. She had thought Yu Fei was just bragging, but she never expected him to actually be able to do it.
The moment Yu Fei started, she noticed something. First, his disassembly technique. Xia Lan had been handling guns for so many years that her technique had a strong personal style; it didn’t strictly follow standard procedure. These were her own personal tricks and insights. She was shocked to see that every single one of Yu Fei’s movements was identical to her own.
Beyond that, Yu Fei’s hands moved with frightening speed, not at all like a beginner’s. It was comparable to that of a Warrior who had practiced for years.
And yet, Xia Lan was absolutely certain this was Yu Fei’s first time handling a super-energy firearm. Although his movements were fast, the tell-tale hesitation and stiffness of a novice were plain to see. There were subtle pauses between his actions, clear signs that he was thinking.
An experienced Warrior, even a slower one, would have a smooth and fluid rhythm to their disassembly. That was something Yu Fei lacked.
’He really is the prodigy who broke the record on his first evaluation, a leader among his peers!’
Xia Lan thought to herself. She had underestimated him.
After Yu Fei finished the disassembly, he felt the warmth behind him increase, as if the lightbulb had gained a few hundred watts. He knew some sort of misunderstanding must have occurred without his knowledge.
As he set down the last part, the placement of all 25 large and small components on the table was identical to how Xia Lan had arranged them.
"It’s disassembled. Please, give me your feedback!"
Yu Fei said as he turned his head.
Xia Lan’s eyes were shining. Suppressing her delight, she said impassively, "Continue. Assemble it."
Yu Fei nodded. He turned, and his hands became a blur of motion, once again perfectly replicating Xia Lan’s assembly sequence. Electric Arm tripled his arm speed, while Fleeting Moment allowed him to control it all perfectly. In the blink of an eye, five seconds later, the Osprey was once again a deadly weapon.
"Beautiful!"
Caught completely off guard, Yu Fei found Xia Lan’s arms wrapped around his neck from behind again.
’This instructor is... too much.’
"Yu Fei, you must have a natural feel for guns! I’ve never seen anyone do what you just did on their first time handling a super-energy weapon!"
Xia Lan’s eyes shone as she looked at Yu Fei with delighted surprise.
In Mrs. Xia’s eyes, he saw only admiration, nothing flirtatious. Yu Fei felt a little ashamed of his own thoughts and couldn’t help but lower his head, only to be dazzled and flustered by her "headlights" again.
"Come, come! Let me explain the finer points of the technique to you. Your feel for guns is top-notch; you just need a little practice."
Immersed in the joy of discovering such a rare talent, Xia Lan held nothing back, passing on all her experience to Yu Fei. She had him disassemble and reassemble every conventional super-energy firearm in the training room, meticulously explaining the details of each one. Yu Fei studied with intense focus; this was the precious experience accumulated by a battle-hardened Warrior.
Xia Lan didn’t just talk about the firearms; she also recounted key principles of sniping, including crucial points for battlefield engagements, sharing them in bits and pieces.
Yu Fei listened very carefully. These were personal insights, exclusive experiences that couldn’t be learned in a general education setting.
During the learning process, he carefully compared the on-paper stats of each firearm, combining theory with practice to deepen his memory.
This lesson continued well into the evening. Their teaching model was simple: Xia Lan would first explain, then demonstrate it herself, then have Yu Fei recite the key points, and finally, have Yu Fei perform the operation himself.
Xia Lan was an experienced teacher, and Yu Fei was a first-class student with exceptional comprehension. The knowledge transfer during the lesson was almost lossless. By the end, Xia Lan even started to think her teaching skills were incredible, and she felt the urge to go ask the principal for a raise.
