Chapter 1303 The Forbidden Law
Chapter 1303 The Forbidden Law
Nyssira frowned, but not even her alone. Even the pink haired girl also had a dark grimace on her face. She leaned away from the corner of the wall she was in and stepped forward.
“Yooo…” Shae quickly outstretched his hand to block her, saving her life in the process.
Some people could really be reckless, it was up to the sane ones to step in times like that Shae believed.
Northern glanced at the commotion behind him and turned back to Nyssira. She had a grimace and seemed deeply bothered by Northern’s question.
Northern sighed.
“I see… you don’t want to share. Is the hostility supposed to ward me off?” He smiled fondly, somehow his next few words contradicted that smile, “You know better than being hostile to me Nyssira? Do I really have to put people in their place for them to understand?”
But he wasn’t up for it. Northern simply didn’t care how people viewed him. To him, it was as simple as he was going to crush them when they crossed the lane. Before that, he felt benevolent enough to give people the opportunity to really be cocky.
If not, how else will potential be seen? It’s not like he was going to fight residents of the underworld alone…
Technically he could but where was the fun in that? The people at least should be strong enough to not get killed by falling stones with the might of meteors.
Either ways, he didn’t feel threatened or concerned by any of this at all and so therefore saw no use in bothering. Maybe this was a very intense character flaw, he didn’t know, all he knew was that he simply didn’t care.
Nyssira pressed her lips together, she was restraining herself so much, clenching her fist which was placed on her thighs.
Northern observed this and shook his head slightly.
“Is that difficult?”
“Let me…”
He shifted his focus to the back, Nyssira’s subordinate.
“Uh?”
“The princess cannot disobey royal order, her soul is bound by it. But I can…”
Nyssira turned to the girl with a wide eye.
Northern saw this and a small frown was etched on his face. In that moment, he knew that something was going on that was beyond these two girls.
Shae and the rest allowed her to step forward. She came close but not too close.
Nyssira’s widened eyes narrowed and then she said.
“Pathie, don’t…”
The girl looked at Nyssira and smiled somberly.
Nyssira turned to Northern and said with a straight tone.
“Please. Don’t make her say. She’ll die.”
Northern’s brows furrowed. He immediately held up his hands at the girl.
“Wait a minute, stop.” His gaze focused on Nyssira.
Blood was already coming out of her nose. She looked down at it and picked it with a finger.
“Did you get that from just saying…”
Nyssira did not answer, she just simply looked at him.
Already… Aoi already knew what to do.
[Analyzing Human…]
Nyssira’s blood hit the floor in a soft, wet drop.
“Princess…”
“Enough,” he said flatly. “Don’t move. Both of you.”
The girl froze, breathing heavily and worriedly looking at Nyssira.
[Subject: Nyssira]
[Status: External Compulsion Detected]
[Nature: Non-hostile, Non-parasitic, Non-corruptive]
Northern’s brows drew together.
‘Non-hostile?’
Nyssira wiped the blood from her lip with the back of her hand. Her breathing was steady, practiced. Too practiced.
Whatever it was that they weren’t permitted to say, Northern could only think of the cruelty of whoever had made them not able to. He had a few guesses given Nyssira’s position and what the lady had said earlier.
‘Such a tight lipped security is very ominous… I must find out]
[Compulsion Classification: Law-Type Influence]
[Deviation from Curse Parameters Confirmed]
[Deviation from Contract Parameters Confirmed]
Northern’s pupils shrank.
‘Law?’
That word carried weight.
[Conclusion: This influence does not command behavior.]
[It enforces consequence.]
Northern’s brows furrowed in slight confusion.
‘Aoi, what does this even mean? Did an Origin do something to her?’
[No…]

[Transcendent: 3.04%]
[Transcendent Entity Identified as Probable Source.]
[I’m quite confident…]
Aoi’s last words did something to Northern. There was a manner it would speak in certain times thar assured Northern the system knew just what it was doing.
‘So… you’re saying a Transcendent bounded her soul with a law? And I’m guessing that law simply is if she divulges any information regarding the reason why she is in the Central Plains or how she got here she will die. It’s like that for the both of them.’
[Correct]
‘Can it be removed?’
[For you? No…]
‘Wait, look at this carefully, the law itself also has to have an essence signature, if we can copy that… or if we can use Soul—’
[No. It can’t work.]
Aoi’s voice was very final.
[The law is not just an essence signature, it is a weave of another being to be able to understand it, we must first understand them and their nature. To properly analyze the law itself, we need to analyze the Lawmaker.]
Northern exhaled.
‘I see… quite a dilemma.’
He glanced at Nyssira who had now found a handkerchief and was now cleaning her nose thoroughly.
‘Wow… it’s been a while I felt this… helpless… nice to get reminded that I’m not a god… yet.’

But he was also far from human.
He stared into the distant for a moment, observing Nyssira as she cleaned her nose, even though the blood was all gone, she was still pressing the tissue across her nose and cheek, as if it was turn to clean off her skin.
But that was not all that Northern was seeing.
Although she was doing a great job suppressing it… but he saw a girl broken inside, with one slight push away from completely shattering into different pieces.
He had no idea what glue it was that was holding her broken soul together but it seemed to be slowly coming off.
Nyssira’s shoulders trembled slightly but she relaxed and looked up with a blank expression.
Northern saw her cold control and almost shivered.
‘Sick…’
