Chapter 616 - 487: Epic Hidden Quest: Hint Result (2)
’What the hell kind of move is this?’ Gao Neng complained inwardly. But he quickly recalled Mu Feifei’s soft cry from before. ’Could this thing be the legendary Angel’s Descent?’
’But what’s the principle behind it?’
’Why would a phantom of light have more power than the real thing?’
’Damn it!’
’This special ability of the Celestial Race is a bit tricky.’
’Besides, the most important thing is that I can’t use the Flying Earth Dragon or my gene weapon right now. Otherwise, the whole act I put on earlier would be for nothing.’
’I’ll just have to fight her head-on and see what happens. There’s no way I can’t beat Mu Feifei!’ After a brief analysis, Gao Neng settled on a new strategy.
The power of these light phantoms was immense, but they couldn’t move.
In other words, as long as he stayed out of their attack range, the phantoms were useless.
’In that case...’
’I just need to be a little more careful.’
Gao Neng made his move.
His Body Technique was nothing to scoff at, either.
Luna had just taught him a movement set that could produce nine afterimages.
SWISH!
SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!
At that thought, nine black afterimages appeared in midair.
"!!!" Mu Feifei was clearly startled by the sudden development. She remembered that the Blood Race wasn’t supposed to have an ’Angel Avatar’ ability, right?
’Wait!’
’Those aren’t Angel Avatars, just ordinary afterimages!’
Mu Feifei was just about to dodge when she suddenly felt a sharp chill from behind.
In her urgency, she immediately swung her sword back to block.
BOOM!
The force of this strike was immense.
Gao Neng hadn’t held back at all.
RUMBLE!
Lightning flashed.
Blue serpents of electricity coiled around Mu Feifei’s body like chains, binding her in place.
"Thunder?! The Fourth Prince isn’t using the power of the Blood Mist, he’s using thunder?" Mu Feifei had met Gao Neng a total of two times.
The first time was in the Forgotten Land.
She had been blasted by a massive amount of energy that Gao Neng had pulled forth with his Energy Extraction Technique, forcing her to make a temporary retreat.
The second time was in the Royal City of the Dark Night Elf Clan.
That time, Gao Neng still hadn’t revealed any elemental abilities. As a result, Mu Feifei had never truly witnessed his "Thunder God Domain."
So, upon seeing the thunder element, she naturally didn’t make the connection to Gao Neng.
"The best abilities are the ones that suit you, wouldn’t you agree?" Gao Neng spouted a platitude. After all, he couldn’t very well admit he didn’t know the Blood Mist Technique.
"’The best abilities are the ones that suit you?’ Hmm... The Fourth Prince is certainly one of a kind!" Mu Feifei paused, slightly stunned, before nodding lightly.
"Here I come!"
"This bit of thunder isn’t enough to hold me! Angels... return!"
BOOM!
An Angelic phantom of light merged into Mu Feifei’s body.
Mu Feifei’s expression became incredibly serene and holy.
The lightning coiled around her shattered into motes of light.
’This Mu Feifei is seriously strong. If I don’t use some special tricks, I really won’t be able to take her down quickly... Delays could cause problems. I need to end this fast. After all, I’m here to complete a mission, not to actually have a drawn-out sword fight.’ Gao Neng’s eyes narrowed. The moment Mu Feifei broke free from the lightning’s embrace, he decisively vanished.
"He’s gone?" Mu Feifei tilted her head back, her first instinct to look above her.
But in that same instant, she felt her ankles being seized. Then, her entire body was yanked out of the air like it was caught in a gale.
Ghostly Ghost Eye!
It could see through any weakness with a single glance.
And Mu Feifei’s weakness was...
’Mu Feifei is a rare genius of the Celestial Race. Possesses the special ability "Angel’s Descent." Adaptable to both close-quarters and long-range combat. Sole weakness: inherent pride. When an enemy disappears, her first instinct is to never look down at her feet.’
Gao Neng had seen Mu Feifei’s weakness long ago.
The outcome of this contest had been decided from the start.
There was no way for Mu Feifei to escape his grasp...
The only question was how long he would toy with her.
Gao Neng didn’t want to end it too quickly...
So, he held back slightly.
He started with a little prelude with Mu Feifei.
The results were good.
Mu Feifei’s strength was truly impressive.
’Okay, I can’t play around anymore. If I drag this out, something might go wrong.’
CRASH!
Mu Feifei was yanked out of the sky by Gao Neng.
This was clearly not what she had expected.
But the moment she was pulled down, she began to struggle. Her two enormous wings flared open, preparing to carry her back into the sky.
But Gao Neng was already prepared.
SWOOSH!
"Break!"
This slash wasn’t just about power.
Gao Neng’s slash utilized the ’laser’ from his ’Life Atom Fission’ ability. A strike like this could injure even a ninth-rank expert.
CRACK!
A sickening crack echoed through the air.
Mu Feifei’s body instantly froze in place.
Because the moment she heard the sound, she felt the connection to the wings she’d had her whole life... sever.
"My wings... severed?!" Mu Feifei turned to look. Behind her, her two pristine white wings were shedding clouds of feathers.
FLAP!
FLAP!
The wings flapped uselessly, completely beyond her control.
"You..." Mu Feifei’s eyes went wide. She could never have imagined that the "Fourth Prince" would sever her wings.
’I am a member of the Celestial Race!’
’The noble Celestial Race, far above all others!’
’But without my wings... am I still part of the Celestial Race?’
’Am I still the Ninth Princess of the Celestial Race?!’
"Mu Feifei, you’ve lost," Gao Neng said. "This was a fair duel. Since you accepted it, you should have been prepared to accept the punishment, shouldn’t you?"
"Prepared to accept the punishment?!" Mu Feifei stared at the white wings still twitching on the ground, completely frozen.
’That’s right.’
’I accepted the "Fourth Prince’s" challenge.’
’And I even swore I would fight with all my strength.’
’But why...’
’Why did he have to sever my wings?’
"You don’t understand why I severed your wings, do you?" Gao Neng asked, placing one hand behind his back as he spoke.
’The little hammer is ready!’
’Just one more strike!’
"Why?" Mu Feifei asked, staring blankly at Gao Neng.
"Because I consider you a kindred spirit!"
"A kindred spirit?"
"That’s right. I want you to stay."
"Stay... No!!!" Mu Feifei let out a sudden roar, her mind instantly descending into madness. Two Angelic phantoms in the distance immediately surged toward her. "Xue Ruyu, I, Mu Feifei, will perish with you to—"
THUD!
A dull thud rang out.
The world before Mu Feifei’s eyes gradually blurred.
In her last moment of consciousness, she saw a small hammer hurtling toward her forehead.
And then...
There was nothing.
The world before Mu Feifei’s eyes went dark.
This Angel...
...no longer had wings.
"Xue Ruyu, I’ll kill you! I’ll definitely kill you!!!" Mu Feifei shrieked in anguish as her body finally collapsed to the ground.
[Ding! Congratulations, Host, for completing the ’Once, Twice, Thrice (Variant) Mission.’]
[Mission Reward: One Skill Upgrade Opportunity.]
[Evolution Point +1.]
[Host will receive a hint for an ’Epic-tier Hidden Mission’.]
[Would you like to upgrade a skill now?]
"Don’t upgrade anything, I want the hint now!" Gao Neng interrupted the system’s mechanical voice. ’Who cares about upgrading a skill? The hint is the important part!’
[Hint: A single seed can only melt a small patch of a world of ice and snow. You need more seeds to turn the entire frigid Northern District Battlefield into a true spring!] The mechanical voice stopped there.
"What does that mean? Wait... you goofy system, you better explain yourself! What do you mean, ’turn the entire frigid Northern District Battlefield into a true spring?!’"
