I Can Control Resources
Chapter 614 - 486: A Test of Wits: Let’s Operate
Although this was the Blood Race Royal Hall, and Mu Feifei’s chances of escape were practically zero, who was to say that ’practically zero’ meant impossible?
Better safe than sorry.
It wasn’t wise to make a move before seeing Mu Feifei with his own eyes.
This seemed to be a rather tricky problem.
Because Mu Feifei was clearly observing his actions, keeping herself hidden. If anything changed, she could seize the initiative at a moment’s notice.
A very clever strategy.
Unfortunately for her, she was up against Gao Neng.
Gao Neng’s realm had only just broken through to the seventh rank, which was a bit lower than Mu Feifei’s.
The problem was, Gao Neng had cheats.
He was a cheater.
So, he directly activated his Ghostly Ghost Eye.
’I have X-ray vision. What’s there to panic about?’ Gao Neng blinked, his gaze piercing through the darkness of the room before him.
The room’s layout appeared before his eyes in an instant.
’So there really are traps!’
’And there are so many of them!’
From the very first step inside, it was... a death trap!
’That girl Mu Feifei really shows no mercy.’
Gao Neng was one hundred percent certain that even if he hadn’t impersonated the Fourth Prince, Xue Ruyu would never have been able to force himself on Mu Feifei in the Royal Hall.
’That girl’s intelligence is at least double Xue Ruyu’s!’
’She even modified the space under the bed?’ Gao Neng discovered Mu Feifei’s location and was, for a moment, genuinely amazed.
Mu Feifei wasn’t sleeping on the bed. Instead, she had hung a special ’sleeping bag’ underneath it, and she was currently hiding inside.
If Gao Neng’s guess was correct, Mu Feifei would strike without hesitation the moment he dared to approach the bed.
"Fourth Prince, please follow behind us. We will scout the path ahead for you." Seeing that Gao Neng didn’t enter immediately, the two Blood Shadow Army guards exchanged a look before speaking up.
"No need. I’ll do it myself." The corner of Gao Neng’s mouth curved up.
With his X-ray vision active, everything was under control.
’Having them scout the path... is just too lame!’
"Yes, sir!" The two Blood Shadow Army guards said no more and immediately stepped aside.
Gao Neng then took two steps forward, walking straight to the doorway of Mu Feifei’s room.
"When I was eight, I paid a visit to the Celestial Race. I wonder if the Ninth Princess still remembers?" As Gao Neng spoke, he observed the expression on Mu Feifei’s face.
There was a slight change.
A frown, but nothing else.
Gao Neng didn’t mind. He was only saying this to keep Mu Feifei hidden under the bed.
"The Ninth Princess was very young that year, but my impression of you has lasted for a decade... Every day when I trained, I would think of the Ninth Princess from back then," Gao Neng continued.
Mu Feifei’s brow furrowed even deeper.
"The Princess might think I am confessing my feelings to you, but that’s not it. I’m just telling you that I’ve always considered you a kindred spirit."
"As the saying goes, ’A scholar dies for one who appreciates him, and a woman adorns herself for one who delights in her.’ The Ninth Princess didn’t specially dress up for my arrival, so it’s clear you don’t see me as a kindred spirit."
"But in truth, I already consider you a friend for life."
Mu Feifei’s body trembled slightly, and her expression looked a little bewildered.
Gao Neng’s heart stirred.
He had learned from Wu Dingxiang that the Fourth Prince, Xue Ruyu, had visited the Celestial Race Royal City when he was eight, which was why he’d come up with this speech.
’But I didn’t expect... it to be this effective?’
CRACK!
Gao Neng stepped through the doorway.
Two beams of light instantly shot out from the left and right, aiming for his head and heart.
CLINK!
CLINK!
With two crisp sounds, the two beams of light fell to the floor.
Gao Neng stood in the doorway, looking calm and unbothered, as if what had just happened was not surprising at all.
In fact, he really wasn’t surprised.
After all, he had already seen through all these traps.
"Eight years old... such a beautiful age. But as a member of the Royal Race, I am ultimately just a canary trapped in a cage. I want to fly outside and see the world, but I can never escape this cage. My talent forces me to stay inside, to follow their arrangements."
Gao Neng walked forward again.
This time, Mu Feifei’s face turned noticeably pale.
’The traps at the door were broken.’
’And so easily, at that...’
Normally, Mu Feifei should have fled immediately, but she only moved the tip of her foot slightly before pulling it back again.
’It’s true, the troubles of a genius are all the same! There’s a saying, "Birds of a feather flock together," and it’s absolutely right. Geniuses are lonely, and their childhoods are full of pressure... This speech of mine about being a genius seems to have really touched Mu Feifei!’ Gao Neng was secretly delighted, but his face gradually took on a look of wistful melancholy.
"For the past decade-plus, my life has been defined by one thing: training! Training! Non-stop training! The Ninth Princess must have experienced this too, right? You can deny it, but the fact is, I can read the loneliness of a genius in your eyes!"
As he spoke, Gao Neng moved closer to Mu Feifei’s position.
Mu Feifei finally grew a little more vigilant.
She began to draw her weapons.
They were two shortswords.
She held them carefully in a reverse grip in her palms.
SWISH!
At the same time, another trap was triggered.
Gao Neng sidestepped slightly.
The projectile missed.
BOOM!
A loud crash echoed from the wall.
The two Blood Shadow Army guards standing outside immediately cried out in alarm.
"Fourth Prince!"
"It’s nothing. Don’t come in without my command!" Gao Neng waved his hand dismissively.
"Yes, sir!" The two Blood Shadow Army guards backed away.
At that moment, Gao Neng successfully saw Mu Feifei clench her jaw. She seemed to be wrestling with something, looking hesitant.
’Life is a stage, and it’s all about the acting. Whether or not I can take down Mu Feifei in one go all comes down to my performance!’ A smile once again touched Gao Neng’s lips.
The room was quite large.
But he had already made it halfway across.
This just went to show: where there’s a will, there’s a way.
"What does it feel like to have a kindred spirit? It’s when you’re training, and you think to yourself that far away, there’s a genius just like you, and she’s training too. When you’re so exhausted you don’t want to move, you still think that far away, a genius is constantly pushing forward. You can’t stop, because if you do, she’ll leave you far behind. You’ll never be able to see her back again, never be able to follow in her footsteps."
CLINK!
CLINK-CLINK-CLINK-CLINK!
After a series of crisp sounds, several new cracks and two deep pits appeared on the floor.
Dust filled the air.
And Gao Neng had already reached the bed.
"Now, I’ve learned that the Ninth Princess has come to the Blood Race Royal Hall. Do you know how excited I was? I couldn’t sleep. I just wanted to see... if the you of ten years later... is still my kindred spirit?!" As Gao Neng’s voice fell, he slammed his palm onto the bed.
CRASH!
With a tremendous noise, the wooden bed was blown to pieces.
A figure shot out from within.
Two shortswords were thrust out in an instant.
One aimed for the eyes.
The other for the heart.
They were two incredibly fast blades.
But they did not pierce Gao Neng’s body.
Because from the very first moment Mu Feifei made her move, he had seen it all—perfectly, clearly, and without a doubt. So how could he possibly fail to block it?
"Ninth Princess, I, Xue Ruyu, have only one wish in this life: to battle you. Please, do not hold back!" Gao Neng looked at the figure that had leaped back and landed opposite him. A bloody light shot from his eyes, and he looked exceptionally thrilled.
"Since the Fourth Prince has such a wish, then I, too, will use my full strength to fight you with all I have, without relying on any external forces!" Mu Feifei nodded seriously.
"My thanks!" Gao Neng smiled.
