Chapter 218: Chapter 193: Chen Yuan’s Ambition

Chen Dong didn’t stay long.

He’d gotten what he came for. As for the specifics of how the village and the business would cooperate, Chen Yuan and Chen Wenbin had already talked through the guesthouse side of things — they could iron out the details themselves.

"No wonder Dong made the call on the spot. Just your first goal alone is terrifying enough."

After Chen Dong left, Chen Wenbin grabbed the laptop and read through Chen Yuan’s Dayuan Pond development plan. He took a couple of hard drags on his cigarette before letting out a long breath.

Chen Yuan’s vision for the pond was to turn it into the gold standard of the industry — the most famous pay-to-fish venue in the country, a mecca that every angler in China would dream of visiting.

He wanted anglers to feel that if they hadn’t been to Chen Yuan Fishing Ground, they couldn’t really call themselves true fishermen.

He wanted every fishing influencer online to be scrambling to come check it in.

He wanted bait and tackle brands to bring their products to Chen Yuan Fishing Ground for real-world testing — because if a product hadn’t been proven at Chen Yuan Fishing Ground, no one would dare put it on shelves.

In short, it would become what Jinghai Garden had been in his previous life.

And on top of that, by combining it with Dayuan Pond’s competitive fishing format, he’d grow the sport into a legitimate competitive scene, establish the most prestigious fishing tournament in the industry, and push angling into the mainstream as a recognized sport — breaking into major competitions across the board.

"The first goal is relatively more achievable, to be fair. I’ve looked into your products — everyone who’s come to the pond has raved about them. People are already waiting for you to put them on the market."

Chen Wenbin took Chen Yuan Fishing Ground seriously, and he’d clearly done his homework. The bait and tackle line would definitely help drive the first goal forward.

It could also lay the foundation for a tackle brand and open the door to the wider fishing gear industry.

Whether it was a booming fishing ground or top-selling bait and gear, the tax revenue that would generate was nothing to sneeze at.

And with the fishing ground tied into leisure and recreation, pushing further down that path would bring real change to Yu City Village — jobs and economic stability, both taken care of.

"But this idea of yours to break free from the current mold — to get fishing fully recognized as a legitimate sport and break into major competitions — that’s a different story. That’s an incredibly tall order."

Chen Yuan knew that better than anyone.

In his previous life, Dayuan Pond had taken things about as far as they could go. Every tournament drew massive crowds of anglers, including international competitors — fishermen from all over the world coming to take part.

The million-yuan prize pools were practically irresistible.

And yet it had still been confined to the Fishing Association, trapped within the fishing world, never able to break into mainstream sporting events.

But Chen Yuan’s ambitions ran deeper. He wanted to build fishing into a true sport — the kind that got recognized alongside basketball and football, included in official competitions.

He wanted to crack the World Championships. He wanted to get into the Olympics.

Right now, that sounded like pure fantasy.

"Nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it. As long as we get the foundation right and stay the course, who’s to say we can’t end up somewhere completely new?" Chen Yuan said with conviction.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

He’d been given a second life, with a system backing him up — one built specifically around fishing grounds. So why couldn’t he make it the industry benchmark? Why couldn’t it become the most revered name in the fishing world?

Why couldn’t he be the one to lead the charge — to carve out a whole new future for the sport and witness something nobody had ever seen before?

The road ahead was hard, no question.

But he had the ultimate cheat code on his side.

So.

Keep walking.

Whatever lay ahead, the view along the way was worth every step~

"You’re bold. You’ve got vision. Or maybe the word is ambition. If you actually pull this off, it won’t just change things for me or Yu City Village — even your Uncle Dong’s world would be turned upside down."

Chen Wenbin could now fully understand the shock and excitement Chen Dong had shown earlier.

He felt it too — completely floored — and yet there was something almost surreal about it all.

Chen Yuan’s ambitions were simply that enormous. If it worked, it would be staggering. If it failed, it would all amount to nothing — every bit of it gone up in smoke.

"You’ve set the direction. Now go after it. I’ll be right there with you."

Chen Wenbin stubbed out his cigarette and gave Chen Yuan an encouraging look.

"Thanks, Uncle~"

Chen Yuan meant it from the heart.

Ever since the fishing ground opened, Chen Wenbin had smoothed the path at every turn. And today Chen Yuan had learned that no matter how things played out, Uncle Bin had his back — no matter what.

That kind of loyalty wasn’t something you could take lightly.

Chen Wenbin caught the gratitude written all over Chen Yuan’s face and froze for a moment — then broke into a grin and smacked the back of Chen Yuan’s head with his palm.

"What the hell are you thanking me for? You call me uncle every other sentence — how could I not help you? But I can only do so much. For the big stuff, you’re going to need your Uncle Dong to have your back."

As he spoke, Chen Wenbin’s smile faded, and he fixed Chen Yuan with a meaningful look.

"Your Uncle Dong is someone you can trust. If you want to go far, listen to what he tells you. People like him don’t come around often in a lifetime — when you find one, you hold on."

"You’re one of those people too, Uncle."

"Stop trying to butter me up. Just work hard. The future of Yu City Village is on your shoulders."

Those words told Chen Yuan everything he needed to know about Chen Wenbin.

Yu City Village was what Uncle Bin carried in his heart. He genuinely wanted to see it grow and thrive.

The opportunity just hadn’t been there before. Now that Chen Yuan had shown up, of course he was going all in.

"Uncle, did Uncle Dong used to live in Yu City Village?"

Chen Yuan closed the laptop Chen Wenbin had slid over, stood up to refill his uncle’s cup, then picked up the cigarette pack and offered him one.

"That was a long time ago. Back when the old village chief was still around, there was a big push to formalize grassroots cadres. Your Uncle Dong was a university graduate, so he got posted to Yu City Village."

Chen Wenbin waved off the cigarette, picked up his tea, and settled back into his seat.

"A college-graduate village official."

Chen Yuan tucked the cigarette between his own lips, the connection between Chen Dong and Yu City Village now making perfect sense.

"Yeah, that’s what they started calling it later on. Your Uncle Dong was sharp — spent a few months in Yu City Village before the higher-ups pulled him away."

There was clear admiration in Chen Wenbin’s voice, but then he shook his head slowly. "Shame, though."

"What do you mean, shame?"

Chen Yuan was curious.
