Chapter 336: Chapter 164: This... How Long Will It Take to Dig... Dig... Dig... Dig

"Even the last remaining humans were turned into a mist of blood."

"The Ghost Objects that were farther from the New Continent and had not yet landed fled in a blind panic toward the distant Thunderstorm Sea Realm. The seven-colored light instantly dissipated when it touched the Thunderstorm Sea Realm, and only a small number of Ghost Objects that rushed into the sea realm managed to escape."

"When I woke up again, I was already on the Flying Ship."

"The members of the Commerce Pavilion said they had been looking for me for three days. They finally found me at the spot where I disappeared—the center of the Deep Pit—and were taking me back. As soon as I came to, the first thing I wanted to do was tell you this news, Domain Lord."

Perhaps because he had finished speaking.

The once-terrified Wang Mazi now seemed much more relaxed.

Celestial Dao.

To a Jiangbei native like Wang Mazi, that word was akin to the name of a god. Just hearing it was terrifying, let alone experiencing things from the Celestial Dao’s perspective.

"..."

Chen Fan stood there in silence, his face expressionless. He didn’t speak for a long time.

He understood.

Wang Mazi hadn’t become the Celestial Dao. Rather, he had entered the perspective of the New Continent’s Celestial Dao and witnessed the final battle on the New Continent up close.

It was just like when he had obtained the Immortal Celestial Master’s Jade Scroll and saw the final battle of Jiangbei in the Ancient Era.

This was a fairly common technique.

What wasn’t normal was...

His perspective had been that of the Immortal Celestial Master.

Wang Mazi’s perspective had been that of the Celestial Dao.

This revealed four things.

First.

Wang Mazi was a decent leader to his men. He had taught them well, evidenced by how they kept searching for him for three days. If the members of the Commerce Pavilion had given up and left, Wang Mazi—uncontactable, weakened, and completely alone—would have never made it back to the Mortal Realm.

His death would have been certain.

Second.

During the final battle on the New Continent, with humanity on the brink of extinction, the Ghost Race tried to force the New Continent’s Celestial Dao to become *their* Celestial Dao. It refused and self-destructed, taking the entire Ghost Race with it.

Third.

Many of the Ghost Objects in the Thunderstorm Sea Realm must be the ones that managed to escape and hide there during the final battle on the New Continent.

The good news: hiding in the Thunderstorm Sea Realm seemed to grant eternal life.

The bad news: they’d be tormented for eternity.

Fourth.

The Thunderstorm Sea Realm had existed since ancient times. This meant he didn’t have to worry about it suddenly vanishing. It made no sense for a Sea Realm that had been around for thousands, perhaps even tens of thousands of years, to just disappear after he had only been in this world for a little over a year.

His luck couldn’t possibly be *that* bad.

And...

Another question arose.

"..."

After a long silence, Chen Fan looked at Wang Mazi with a complicated expression and said softly.

"Mazi, the seven-colored light from that Celestial Dao’s self-destruction covered the entire New Continent and its surrounding Sea Realms. Since it was able to annihilate all Ghost Objects, its power must have been immense."

"Yet the Thunderstorm Sea Realm was able to completely withstand the force of that explosion."

"It could even provide shelter for some of the Ghost Objects."

"That alone proves how terrifying the Thunderstorm Sea Realm is."

"Can you tell me..."

"How did you manage to make the trip there and back through the Thunderstorm Sea Realm?"

The Thunderstorm Sea Realm.

He’d long known this Sea Realm was peculiar, but he had no concept of just *how* peculiar. Now he did. The self-destruction of a Celestial Dao on the verge of death—practically its ultimate attack—hadn’t caused the slightest bit of damage to the Thunderstorm Sea Realm.

And yet Wang Mazi had managed to go there and back.

Wasn’t that just a little absurd?

"Uh..."

Wang Mazi stood there, stunned. It was only now dawning on him that he’d apparently done something unbelievable. Scratching the back of his head, he thought back for a long while before saying hesitantly, "We just... passed through it..."

"The rain and wind are heavy in the Thunderstorm Sea Realm, and there’s constant thunder and lightning."

"But the Thunderbolts never struck our Sea Ship."

"The Ghost Objects in the sea realm don’t attack them either."

"As long as you’re lucky enough not to get swept away by a wave and the ship doesn’t capsize, you can get through..."

"..."

Chen Fan remained silent. ’If only it were that simple,’ he thought. ’He must have had incredible luck and accidentally stumbled upon the one and only safe passage through the Thunderstorm Sea Realm.’

’And he just happened to find it on the way there *and* on the way back.’

’But what’s even more absurd... is the Thunderstorm Sea Realm itself, a place that not even the self-destruction of a Celestial Dao could damage.’

’And yet Hey Hey claimed it could destroy the Arrays deep beneath its seabed. It just said it would be a little difficult and take some time...’

’I always thought that being able to suppress Arrays was just an innate ability of a Heaven-Swallowing Crocodile.’

’Now I’m seriously doubting that.’

’I vaguely recall Qi Feng, the Young Master of Medicine King Valley, telling me... that the Heaven-Swallowing Crocodile is a purely combat-oriented Exotic Beast.’

’Purely combat-oriented?’

’Hey Hey says that, with enough time, it can destroy the Arrays under the seabed of the Thunderstorm Sea Realm—a place that even a Celestial Dao’s self-destruction couldn’t harm?’

’So Hey Hey is even more badass than the Celestial Dao?’

...

After a long while, Chen Fan finally patted Wang Mazi’s shoulder and chuckled, "Relax. You just witnessed the final war on the New Continent from the Celestial Dao’s perspective. No need to be so terrified."

"But..."

"The Mortal Realm needs to develop faster."

"Otherwise, if the Celestial Dao of the Eternal Night Continent thinks the front lines can’t hold and decides to imitate the New Continent’s Celestial Dao by self-destructing, things could get ugly."

"It might not self-destruct. Maybe our Eternal Night Continent’s Celestial Dao will just surrender," Wang Mazi blurted out.

"..."

Chen Fan looked at Wang Mazi grimly. "Wouldn’t that be even worse?"

’What is the purpose of the Celestial Dao?’

’I don’t know.’

’But guarding Jiangbei comes with a Celestial Dao Blessing, and during the final battle on the New Continent, its Celestial Dao watched the entire thing from the sidelines. This suggests the Celestial Dao has no means of combat. It can only observe from a distance and do its best to grant blessings to powerful and deserving individuals, giving them the ability to defend more territory.’
