Chapter 210: Chapter 210: I Heard They’re Already Divorced

Before long, the teachers from the school arrived.

Not a single one came empty-handed. Some even brought expensive tonics like bird’s nest.

Piled in a corner of Evelyn Grant’s hospital room, the gifts nearly formed a small mountain.

"How are you feeling now, Alex’s sister?"

"I’m fine now. It’s just Alex who’s worried and won’t let me leave the hospital." Evelyn Grant chatted with the teachers for a few moments.

Suddenly, she noticed one of the teachers taking a picture of her with a phone!

The next second, the teacher realized he was being stared at. An awkward expression crossed his face. He forced a smile, his voice sounding a little guilty. "Uh... my husband asked where I was. I’m just taking a picture to show him."

"Oh, it’s alright. Go ahead."

Evelyn Grant didn’t say anything at the time. But after the teachers had left, she called her brother over.

"Alex, that teacher just now... the slightly heavyset one. Is he married?"

Alex Grant thought for a moment. "I think he was married, yeah?"

"Oh..."

She was just about to relax when her brother added, "But I heard he’s divorced now. And he has a kid."

"..."

Evelyn Grant’s brow furrowed slightly. "Divorced?"

"Yeah, he’s the homeroom teacher for Class Five. I heard it from some of the students in his class. What’s wrong, Sis?" Alex Grant was still a bit confused. "Why are you suddenly so curious about one of our teachers?"

"Oh... n-nothing. I just thought he looked pretty young, not like someone who’s been married."

"Him, young? Mr. Wright must be over forty!"

Evelyn Grant didn’t know how to salvage the conversation, so she just gave a dry laugh and changed the subject. "Oh, right, Alex, could you go buy me some more pastries later? Get a lot this time, and bring some for Mom, too."

"Okay, I’ll go as soon as I’m done tidying up."

Alex Grant, suspecting nothing, simply nodded.

The teachers had brought quite a few things. Being a tidy person, he had to arrange everything neatly before he could be satisfied.

Only after he had finished organizing everything did he get up and leave the hospital.

He had been concerned about his sister’s condition today, but seeing that she seemed stable, he finally felt at ease enough to leave.

The moment Alex Grant left, Evelyn Grant pulled out her phone.

’Something isn’t right.’

’Someone must have orchestrated this whole thing with my brother’s school! But I’m not sure if it was Ryan Sterling or Julian Sterling.’

’So, I have to test my theory.’

Naturally, the call was to Ryan Sterling.

After all, Evelyn Grant was completely unwilling to communicate with Julian Sterling. The man was just unreasonable.

"Hello?"

Ryan Sterling sounded surprised to receive her call, the pitch of his voice rising slightly.

"Do you have any... plans to leave the country soon?" Evelyn Grant’s tone, in contrast, was perfectly level.

She sounded as if she were discussing business with a client.

"Uncertain."

"Then before you go abroad, whenever that is, let me know. I’ll go with you to the Civil Affairs Bureau as quickly as possible."

Seemingly unhappy that her calls were always about those three words—"Civil Affairs Bureau"—Ryan Sterling fell silent for a second before retorting, "Is there anything else?"

"..."

Hearing his tone, Evelyn Grant thought... ’This probably wasn’t Ryan’s doing, was it?’

’After all,’ she considered, ’Ryan really has no reason to do something like this. Our separation was a mutual, unspoken agreement.’

’Besides, if Ryan had wanted to sponsor Alex, he would have done it long ago. Why would he wait until after the divorce?’
