Chapter 202: Chapter 202: May Julian Sterling Die a Horrible Death

He couldn’t let this happen. He’d not only fail to get the house, but he’d also have to give the money back!

That would be like shooting himself in the foot.

"I already told you, I’m under no obligation to give you this money! If you have a problem with that, you can sue me. But right now, what I’m going to do is—take this money back."

’Perfect. Now that I’m trying to win back Evelyn Grant, I really need the money!’

As Mr. Jacobs tried to speak again, Julian Sterling shot a look at the nearby security guards.

Two guards immediately came over and flanked Mr. Jacobs, each taking an arm. "We’re sorry, sir, but you need to leave."

"I’m not leaving!" Seeing that he had lost, Mr. Jacobs realized that making a scene was his only option. He started shouting at the top of his lungs, "Julian Sterling, you heartless bastard! You were already married, but you still tricked my daughter into being with you! You got her pregnant, and then you and your wife schemed to kill her! You’ll get what you deserve! I won’t let you off the hook!"

His shouts immediately drew the attention of many people nearby.

Growing even more irritated, Julian Sterling quickly walked away.

He took the elevator back to his office and called his secretary on the landline. "Go downstairs and deal with that lunatic. If that doesn’t work, call the police and have him arrested."

"Yes, Mr. Sterling."

After hanging up, Julian Sterling went to the floor-to-ceiling window in his office and looked down again.

Mr. Jacobs was still struggling, fighting off the security guards. He screamed like a madman, "Julian Sterling is a fraud! He lied to my daughter, ruined her life, and caused her to die young! Now I’m just a lonely old man left all alone, and he still refuses to take responsibility!"

"Julian Sterling will die a horrible death! Julian Sterling, get out here!"

"I’ll never let any of you go! Julian Sterling, aren’t you afraid Jane’s spirit will come back to haunt you?!"

Julian Sterling frowned and shut the window, cutting off the sounds from below.

In that moment, he became acutely aware of what he had done wrong—and just how absurdly wrong he had been.

’My mother told me Jane Jacobs was only after my money, but I didn’t believe her. I even spoke up to defend her.’

’How could I have been so foolish?’

’It was like I’d been sold out and was still helping them count the money!’

"Damn it!"

Julian Sterling slammed his fist hard on his desk!

’The stupidest thing of all was that I gave up Evelyn Grant for a woman like that—for a pair of insatiably greedy vultures. I abandoned the one woman who had been completely devoted to me.’

’Right now, I want nothing more than to punch myself. How could I have done something so unbelievably stupid!’

...

Mr. Jacobs’s commotion didn’t just attract the attention of the company’s employees; the media was now also following the story.

This was something Julian Sterling hadn’t anticipated.

He never thought Mr. Jacobs could cause him this much trouble.

His secretary managed to have Mr. Jacobs removed, but the media was still camped out on the ground floor, hoping to catch a story.

When word of the incident reached Florence Morgan, she was so furious she drove straight to the company and stormed into her son’s office.

The moment she walked in, without a single word, she slapped her eldest son across the face.

The blow was hard enough to snap Julian Sterling’s head to the side, and the red imprint of five fingers immediately appeared on his cheek.

It was a testament to how much force Florence Morgan had used.

"I told you not to get involved with Jane Jacobs! And look what you’re doing now! Huh? You’re about to drag the Sterling family’s name through the mud!"
