After considering all possibilities, the Four Emperors seemed the only plausible candidates.

In the New World, on a peaceful and quiet island, former Admiral Kuzan — Aokiji stood inside a small church, before a priest, going through the motions of prayer with a lazy, detached expression.

The priest, a middle-aged man wearing a cross around his neck, held no scripture in his hands — only a newspaper. He stared blankly at the headline, lost in thought.

After a long pause, he sighed. "I should have expected this. Now that Phantom has returned, of course they would go straight for the Divine Kingdom."

"Stirring up trouble the moment they come back... that really is their style."

Seeing no point in keeping up appearances, Aokiji walked over to a bench, sat down, and crossed his legs. "Though, I’m no longer part of the Marines. This isn’t my headache anymore."

"Angelle’s chances of survival are slim. The kingdom is finished... though there should be survivors left."

The priest said a quiet prayer, then spoke again. "Aokiji, I am going to the Sky Islands to search for survivors. You don’t need to stay here any longer."

Aokiji stretched lazily. "Last time, you were warning me not to get involved with Phantom. And now, you’re going to walk right into their path yourself?"

"That’s exactly what I need to discuss. I want you to find members of Phantom and contact their captain, or their first mate — even one of their high-ranking commanders will do. Invite them to come here."

"What are you planning?" Aokiji frowned.

The priest did not answer. He walked to a coat rack, put on a long overcoat, and headed toward the church doors.

"Go now. And remember — do not engage in conflict."

He left quickly.

Aokiji scratched his head and breathed out slowly. "The moment they return, the world falls into chaos... what a troublesome organization."

He stood up slowly, walked outside, mounted his bicycle, and pedaled toward the open sea surrounding the island.

"If I’m looking for them... should I start with Doflamingo?"

Inside a quiet, secluded room, Vladimir sat on a sofa, also reading the morning newspaper.

A moment later, he tossed the paper aside. With a wave of his hand, he tore open a rift in space and drew out a crate filled with Devil Fruits from the Shadow Realm.

"The Marines haven’t reacted much... they’re too busy with the World Conscription right now, trying to bolster their military strength. They have no time to care about this."

An idea formed in his mind. As their enemy, it really wouldn’t do if I didn’t go out and cause some chaos. But before that... I need to raise my Primordial Spirit Form to Six Stars.

Currently, Vladimir possessed 14 Spirit Forms:

- 5-Star: Sea Dragon, Shadow Wraith, Lich King, Gilgamesh

- 4-Star: Death God (Sosuke Aizen)

- 3-Star: Nine-Tailed Fox, King of Knights, Divine Archangel, Demon Lord of Fear, Chrono Fish, Raikou

- 2-Star: Ibaraki-douji, Uchiha Itachi, Azir, the Emperor of the Sands

Only Aizen was at Four Stars. If he wanted to increase the level of his main body’s Primordial Spirit, the highest priority was clearly the Death God.

However, aside from that, he also intended to raise another Spirit Form to Five Stars. The Divine Archangel seemed like the perfect choice.

"First, let’s max out Aizen’s level."

With that thought, Vladimir acted immediately.

Upgrading a 4-Star Death God to 5-Star required consuming 30 Devil Fruits. Now that he had vast resources at his disposal, cost was no concern at all.

He absorbed the 30 fruits directly from the crate. Massive, mysterious power surged into his body, rapidly pushing Aizen’s rank to its absolute peak.

On top of that, he had unlocked the Fifth Ability: Fusion.

This referred to the fusion with the Hōgyoku, becoming its absolute master and unlocking the path of infinite evolution.

It allowed one to break past the boundaries of a Shinigami and ascend to a higher dimension.

After a moment’s hesitation, Vladimir decided not to rush the fusion. It was something he could do at any time; there was no need to be hasty.

What interested him far more were the changes occurring within his own main body.

With that, he sank his consciousness deep into his true form.
