I Became the Eye Candy: Four Bigshots Claimed to be My Dad?
Chapter 662: No Mere Fish in a Pond
"The girl created her own script? Really?"
Zhan Chi glanced at it a few times before a thought suddenly struck him. "I think so. I’ve seen the girl write characters with the same kind of strokes."
Zhan Yi and Gu Shuo didn’t understand, but seeing how certain the others were, they turned to Dean Chen with agitated expressions. "What’s going on?"
"This is indeed the simplified script my young disciple created. She taught it to me, and back then, she even declared she would replace all existing scripts with these simplified characters." Dean Chen had also been extremely shocked when he received the letter.
"What does it say?"
"’To Master. Wait.’"
"Wait? Did the girl really write it?"
’Wait? Wait for what?’
"It’s not her handwriting, but the script is hers. I thought about it all night, and I believe there’s one possibility." Dean Chen suppressed the excitement welling up inside him.
"What possibility—?" Zhan Chi’s eyes widened.
Qian Fanji’s breathing grew taut; he didn’t even dare to take a deep breath.
Gu Shuo also felt an indescribable tension. ’It’s Ye Qianning’s unique script. What does that mean? It means...’
"My young disciple might not be dead," Dean Chen voiced his suspicion.
Upon hearing his words, it was as if a string was pulled taut in everyone’s mind. Uncontainable joy surged through their hearts, and their faces trembled, their expressions nearly losing all control.
"But... but her body..." Zhan Yi wanted desperately to believe, but they had seen the girl’s body with their own eyes. She had been cold to the touch, with no breath, no heartbeat.
"I know," Dean Chen said, his belief unwavering. "But I have faith. This letter must be from my young disciple. Her injuries were likely so severe that she couldn’t hold a brush, so she had to have someone else write for her."
’Because that was his young disciple’s script. No one else in the world knew it.’
Qian Fanji stared at the rice paper for a long time before speaking a single word: "Wait."
"Fan Ji, you believe it too?" Qian Fu asked in surprise.
"I do."
’He believed. He would wait, no matter how long it took. He believed that one day, she would come back.’
"I believe it too," Gu Shuo said, his eyes rimmed with red.
The younger generation all chose to believe. Qian Fu and Zhan Yi, however, had seen too much in their lives. Although they also hoped it was true, they had never witnessed anyone survive such grievous injuries.
’The young ones are just fooling themselves.’
"Zhan Yi, Qian Fu, I know you may find this too fantastic to believe," Dean Chen said, a deep intuition guiding him. "But who can truly claim to understand the ways of the world? That girl was destined for great things; her fate should not be so brief. I firmly believe she will return."
Zhan Yi and Qian Fu were both taken aback by his words.
’Destined for great things?’
’The girl in their family was indeed different from other children. Perhaps...’
’Perhaps miracles really do happen in this world?’
"I will wait with everyone else," Qian Fu said, fingering his Buddha Beads as he prayed to the heavens.
Zhan Yi’s perspective also cleared. "Then we will all wait, no matter how long it takes."
"It is best that this matter remains only among ourselves. The men you sent out to search must continue their work. We cannot let anyone suspect a thing," Dean Chen instructed.
"Rest assured, Dean. We understand," said Zhan Yi.
’As far as the world was concerned, the girl was dead and gone. Even if she were to return in the future, it would have to be with a new identity...’
’As for being the Crown Princess Consort... let all of that scatter to the winds.’
When Qian Fanji, Gu Shuo, and Zhan Chi came out of the room, they were immediately surrounded by Luo Wen, Du Yi, and Ying Ge. Du Ying and Luo Xuan, who had rushed back after hearing the news, were there as well.
"Minister Qian, is what the Dean just said true?" Luo Wen’s voice trembled.
"If you believe, then it is true. If you don’t, then it is nothing," Qian Fanji replied.
