Seeing Little Fatty, a faint surprise flashed through Luo Yirui’s heart, and then a sudden warmth rose up inside.

Looking at the smile in Luo Yirui’s eyes, Little Fatty scratched his head and said, "Ahem, how come you ended up going the same way as me? Anyone who didn’t know better would think you were following me."

As he spoke, Little Fatty sprang down the slope in a jump, striding toward Luo Yirui.

Luo Yirui shot him a glare, annoyed—stubborn as a dead duck, still refusing to admit it.

"You’re gonna grill fish? Hahaha, Brother Pang loves grilled fish the most!" Little Fatty ran excitedly to the riverside. Seeing fish inside about the size of an adult’s palm, looking quite plump, he practically started drooling on the spot.

"I’ll go catch the fish, Brother Xiao Rui, you make the fire!" Little Fatty finished speaking and ran into the woods. Before long he came back out with a wooden stick of just the right thickness in his hand. He used Luo Yirui’s knife to sharpen one end, then hitched up his pants, ignored the cold river water, and jumped in to start spearing fish.

Luo Yirui saw how practiced his movements were—obviously this wasn’t his first time doing this. He was clearly better at it than Luo Yirui, so Luo Yirui didn’t interfere. By comparison, he could probably get the fire going faster.

Little Fatty was starving, and so was he. The two of them, in perfect tacit understanding, started building the fire and catching fish. In no time, waves of delicious aroma were drifting through the air.

Little Fatty kept turning the stick in his hand. Even though he was about to lose patience, he still wanted every inch grilled just right, so the fishy smell wouldn’t be such a problem.

Finally it was time to dig in. Little Fatty chomped down on the fish with a loud "awooh," making Luo Yirui’s mouth water too.

That one bite was pure tender fish meat. Even though there were some small bones, for two people with growling stomachs, a bit of trouble didn’t stop it from tasting wonderfully sweet.

Just as the two were eating, a rustling sound came from nearby. They immediately stopped chewing and turned their heads toward the woods a short distance ahead.

Someone had caught up to them. Could it be security personnel?

Luo Yirui reached for the knife lying beside him, and Little Fatty picked up the wooden stick he’d used for spearing fish. The two of them stood up together.

Soon, a figure appeared among the trees. The height wasn’t much, so they first let out a breath of relief—then they saw Fu Xuan Ge’s face, a bit proud yet very tired-looking.

Seeing Fu Xuan Ge, Little Fatty suddenly burst out laughing. "Looks like I’m not the only one who ’accidentally’ took this path!"

When Fu Xuan Ge saw Luo Yirui and Little Fatty, a hint of amusement flashed in her eyes, but her tone was flat as she said, "What are you doing following me?"

Little Fatty: "???"

Seriously, have some shame. At least he was still a bit reserved, but this one shows up this late and is still this shameless—no fish for you!

Fu Xuan Ge had smelled the aroma long ago. At this point she couldn’t be bothered with her reserve or that bit of pride. She walked quickly to the fire, saw there were still two fish there, and unceremoniously picked one up.

Little Fatty complained, "Hey, hey, Brother Pang caught those fish, Brother Xiao Rui grilled them. Don’t eat so casually, will you? You’re making the Fu Family lose face completely!"

Fu Xuan Ge gave him a chilly side-eye and kept eating. Right now, someone who hadn’t eaten anything yet was the biggest deal.

Luo Yirui sat back down. He could understand Little Fatty catching up with him—he’d even thought that was likely. Fu Xuan Ge showing up, though, he really hadn’t seen that coming.

"What’s your plan?" Luo Yirui asked.

Fu Xuan Ge gulped down the whole fish, nearly getting choked by a bone halfway through. She said, "Let’s go together!"
